Excellent hotel well located in Tokyo. A superb choice of quality restaurants at walking distance. No need to take the breakfast as the offer is relatively limited and pricey. Many options around the Hotel. The proximity of the train station is not noisy at all, but allowing an easy access to any point of the city by metro, subway, or express train. Hotel […] is a bit dated in look, old European style, but extremely well maintained and clean. Room are well equipped, and bathroom is generously replenished in Shiseido bathroom amenities. Staff always willing to help, even if the English is not fluent for everybody. Bell captain will support your tourism needs. Superb laundry service. Functional and delivers the basics of what is needed in a hotel. Staff are friendly and professional. We stayed for 5 nights before moving to the Conrad. All I can say is - save, work hard and splash out on staying at the Conrad instead.

Hotels.com is a good website but nearly got short changed by the Hotel as initially was given a smaller and cheaper room than the type that I booked. Only upon entering the room than I realized the room was not the one that I have booked. Excellent Hotel with a good location as you are able to travel around Tokyo by train from the Shimbashi station which has it's own exit into the Dai-Ichi Hotel. The room was clean and spacious by Japanese standards. The staff were always attentive and friendly to any request. We were on the higher floors away from the railway line and were not distrubed […] by the busy railway lines next to this hotel. This is a great hotel if you want to use the efficient Tokyo rail network and you just about go anywhere in Tokyo starting from the Shimbashi station. Continua a leggere

Overall, the stay was quite enjoyable. The hotel service was great -- the front desk staff were quite helpful and spoke English well -- and walking around the surrounding area was fun. The hotel itself seemed a bit dated, but the room was quite comfortable.

My room was very nice, but the public areas of the hotel could use some TLC. The carpet in the hallways on the 17th floor were dirty and frayed and need to be cleaned/replaced. But the service was excellent from everyone including the front desk and the concierge desk.

The Hotel staff were welcoming and helpful the air con is efficient and quiet and the room is very quiet so easy sleeping at night or during the day. Very good shower and full size bath. The hotel is very central, close to shops and Shimbashi rail and subway stations. Only 2 stops from Tokyo station. This made travel around the city very easy. It is […] within walking distance of the Imperial palace and gardens. We were fortunate to have our room at no extra charge until our departure time at 2.15pm. This of course may not be always possible. My only warning is that the hotel is in two separate buildings, not interconnected. Our room was in the one without the pool so not convenient for swimming. I would request a room in the other building next time. We got an excellent rate through Expedia perhaps the cheaper rates did not apply to the newer building with pool. Continua a leggere

We stayed here one night looking for a more "Japanese" hotel in Tokyo. It didn't disappoint. This hotel is used mostly by Japanese business people so it was an interesting experience. The hotel does seem a bit dated, but as another reviewer said, it has more of a period feel and it was clean. There are several restaurant choices which was nice. We had […] the buffet - which was decent but not great. The bakery on the main floor was delicious though. We also had some drinks on the 21st floor (Lounge 21) and the view was spectacular. Drinks were expensive though. The room service is also pretty pricy - even for Tokyo. The hotel is near alot of eateries (delicious and cheaper) and shops. Train station access was very convenient - it's downstairs (bit of a walk to the turnstyles though). Also, they do have wired internet but it is not complimentary. There is nothing bad I can say in our stay in Dai-Ichi Hotel from the time we walked in to check in up to date we checked out. All hotel staff were helpful and courteous. Location was perfect. The location with minutes from the Yamanote line, or 1000Yen taxi from the Tokyo Station, minutes walk from the Ginza shopping area, and Narita shuttle bus service are all strong assets. Front desk and nearby staff very friendly. Breakfast is a kind of a la carte and is not the best. The bar at the top is also not well priced for what it is, however plenty of good options just outside in Ginza Corridor. Room is larger than comparable hotels near by and that is why I choose it.

This hotel is tops and has some nice little touches like a sewing kit that we needed to use! Our price (through Expedia) was mid range but was great value for money. Room size was great as was the bathroom. Reception was friendly, attentive and efficient. Room cleaning service was prompt and courteous and the room presentation was extremely pleasing […] so it was a great place to return to each evening - we had five nights there. The hotel is in a good location for sight seeing around Tokyo and has easy access to transport. There are plenty of eating options nearby with a range of prices from low to high. Between Shinbashi and Ginza this hotel is a great location, with much within walking distance and well-placed for metro rides elsewhere. Inside is peaceful, with a European décor (and patisserie). Staff were very helpful, rooms were very nice, although the sound of the nearby trains was a little louder than might be hoped for. One thing that did disappoint […] was that the 21st floor bar closed at 10, with 9:30 last orders over the weekend. We were hoping to finish a nice night out there. Wired internet was good, but wireless would be appreciated for iphones and pads. One hint for Tokyo - if you are struggling to get cash out of bank ATMs go to the nearby 7-11, the machine there works with many more cards, whereas bank ATM tend only to work with Japanese and a small selection of overseas banks. The Dai Ichi Shinbashi is a very good older hotel. It is conveniently located near major transportation hubs, accessible by airport limo bus, and near the Ginza. The staff is superb.

I always enjoy staying at the Dai-Ichi Hotel - the staff are warm and welcoming and the rooms are spacious. The last two times I have reserved a Premium room, which I believe is good value as complimentary breakfast and Internet are included in the price.

We took a suite and what a great decision- huge room, all the trimmings, breakfast and evening drinks included as well as a nespresso machine in the room! Could not fault this property except for the adjacent train line -lucky japanese trains stop over night.

Very nice hotel, located in the Ginza district. The staff spoke some english and would write destinations in Japanese for you. The airport and tour buses (we took the Mount Fuji tour) picked up passangers at the hotel. That was nice because street signage is mostly in Japanese and few taxi drivers speak any english. The Lobby Wi-Fi connection was terrible.and […] the hotel had a steep charge to use there computers.. I suggest you bring a laptop and a coax cable to hard wire your omputer to the network connection in your room.. I haven't tried that, but my guess is that you would get a workable connection. - Prime location, walking distance to everything, 1 min walk to Underground station (Shimbashi) - I am a frequent traveller to Tokyo, but first time in Dai-Ichi. With good offer from Hotels.com it will not be the last. I stayed 7 nights at this hotel. -Breakfast at hotel is stupidely expensive as in all hotels in Tokyo (3000 JPY/40$ pp), same with […] the mini-bar (550 JPY/7,2$ for a small beer). But Lawson (kind of 7/11 kiosk) is open 24h just across the street to buy drinks and breakfast. Starbucks is also just 2 min walk towards Ginza. I tried two of the restaurants (the French in 2nd floor and the Teppanyaki on the top floor), both very good quality and service.Please be aware they have discount coupons in the room for guests. I got 30% at the Teppanyaki and 20% at the French. Airport Limousine Bus stops at hotel front door so easy access from Airport (3000 JPY pp /40$ one-way) I had a Superior room, and quality of the room was very good. Spacious bed, free high-speed Internet (not wifi), quite room even overlooking the main train lines. English newspaper at the door every morning. Gym/Swimming Pool in separate building, 1500 JPY pp /20$ for guests if you bring discount card from the room. Highly recomended Continua a leggere

The reception area looks impressive, particularly with the massive Christmas tree that dominated the entrance during my stay, but the corridors and rooms have seen better days. The walls around he the room door had marks and scrapes from presumably all the cases that have been bumped against them over time. The carpet area around the kettle was badly […] stained. That said, all of the furniture was clean and exceptionally comfortable - how I wish I could have taken the bed home with me! An old-fashioned looking but perfectly functional remote control for the room was on the bedside cabinet which can control the lighting and air conditioning. The bathroom was very spacious, with a separate bath and walk-in shower. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, answering all of the queries I had with a smile. Carpets and general decor looked like they were ready for a refurb, so a little sad, but not off-putting. Also clearly had a 'smoker's' room, but no alternatives available - clearly something going on in Tokyo that week (Tokyo Motor Show maybe). Appallingly slow Internet connection, and system insisted on performing an anti-virus check before allowing […] access -who knows what that may do. Then the Business Centre (only means of printing out a boarding pass) was painfully slow and intermittent - took nearly 2 hours at chargeable rate to print 2 passes.
