Wyndham Ocean Ridge Resort Edisto

This is not a bad property. Unfortunately I made my reservation before I read the other reviews. After all its a Wyndham and its on the ocean so its got to be good. Wrong! Its is a Wyndam but it is a time share property and although they are respectful of you and dont over sell it I did make the mistake of going and it was 2.5 hours I can never get […] back. They told me it would only be one hour in a group setting but when I got there it turned out to be 2.5 hours one on one with a salesman. Also the property is not on the breach or even in walking distance. Basically it is a golf resort about 1.5 miles from the beach and you can ride a shuttle they offer to the beach. Again, not terrible but I just wish people would be more upfront. When you look at the website all you see is coastal pics with condos right on the water. They dont give those to Hotels.com members. You will most likely get a very clean but very dated condo deep in the community maybe on a golf course if you are lucky. It was serene but I had my heart set on waterfront. The area itself on Edisto is beautiful and unspoiled. The local people are friendly and while there isnt a ton of nightlife there are some nice, reasonably priced restaurants to choose from. The check in procedure was a bit of a disaster. There were two lines, a lot of people, and a good bit of confusion about where to go. At the desk, the clerk wasn't sure where the keys were. Apparently going through hotels.com is different than booking directly. A manager came out to tell us who she was and what she was NOTresponsible for. Lady, I just […] want the keys to my room. Finally the keys were located and we were sent to another desk for our parking permit where there was more confusion about the method of booking. Also, this extra step gave them the opportunity to tell us about their timeshare breakfast on Monday. Again Lady, I just want to be able to go to my room. If the resort is going to be advertised like a hotel on hotels.com or similar, then the customer service should be on par with a hotel not a timeshare sales getaway. On Sunday, we tried to rent beach chairs and met considerable resistance. The clerk was a non-native English speaker thus impacting communication. Nevertheless, we were able to order the chairs and then found out they would not be delivered until after 9:00. Around 9:00 we get a call informing us that they can't bring the chairs to us because it is too far away. I wish we could get that 90 minutes of his life back. As for the condo, it was comfortable and well stocked. The space and view were as described on the website. The layout of the condo worked perfectly for our needs. We were very pleased with the condo we stayed in and would recommend it to others. Although the check in procedure could be streamlined considerably. Continua a leggere

I would not recommend this resort at all. First, it is a time share resort which I was not aware. Second the furniture was filthy and dated. Nothing like the pictures at all. In the pictures it showed dark wood, clean, up to date furniture. The furniture in the rooms was white wicker and was in dirty pastel colors. Not even close to the pictures. We […] had to cover the couch to sit on it because it was so dirty. The kitchen was in good condition with new countertops and either new or very clean appliances. The master bath was very dirty. Shower curtain falling down and the master bath had a huge crack that was poorly repaired and 1/2 inch seams where there was not caulk. The floor was very dirty as well. Continua a leggere
