Yosemite View Lodge El Portal

Nicely located just outside of the front entrance of yosemite. The hotel was mediocre. Bedding had a strange odor. Jacuzzi spa wasn't fully cleaned as it had hair from previous guests. The air conditioning unit kept on making a clicking sound throughout the night and we had to call the front desk twice to adjust the blurry television channels. This hotel is minutes away from the entrance to Yosemite. After long day of driving and hiking to come to this hotel with it's nice indoor pool and spa hit the spot. Then we could be back in the park the next day within minutes! We brought our own food so the kitchenette was perfect. too!

Stayed here during winter at the 'sub-century dollar' lowest rate. Got a very large room with two queen beds, large bathroom, kitchenette and TV. Everything was pretty standard quality, but there was nothing that was broken down either. The lights are all fluorescent bulbs, which although eco-friendly, did not provide very sufficient light in the room. […] There was an indoor pool in my building, but you had to walk outdoors to get to it, so not so great to do that in a towel when it was 28 degrees out! There is no available wi-fi service anywhere except the side room of the main lobby, where they use a provider who charges $9 for 24 hours. Cell phone service is on the Verizon extended network (still no data service on smartphones), and who knows about AT&T (likely worse if at all). The restaurant, The River, is decent yet somewhat expensive fare, since there's no other game in town. They serve breakfast and dinner, and there's also a pizza place next door. Still, this was a very good place to stay, just two miles outside the Arch Rock entrance of Yosemite Valley. It is relatively new and clean. Continua a leggere

This is a great location and place for the price. Would love to and will stay again.

Wish we had skipped staying in the park and stayed only at this motel. It is modern, clean, spacious. The diningroom has a very nice ambiance and the food was excellent and a normal price. It is right outside the park, but it only takes ten minutes to be in the middle of Yosemite Valley.

The biggest plus is the location. There is a decent convenience store on site for basic needs.

The room was spacious and clean with all conveniences we required. The setting is spectacular as the Merced river is clearly visible from all units within 100 feet or so. The location is only a mile or so from the gateway to the yosemite park.

Located just outside the park, this is a large hotel (many buildings) that features 3 pools and an on-site restaurant. The room was clean and fairly spacious. The bed was a little too hard, the pillows hard also, and there were no extra blankets... however, it was quiet - and it was great to have a kitchenette and coffee maker. The lodge far exceeded my expectations. The positives: The room was great as it included a kitchen, balcony and very large bathroom. Lots of space. The […] negatives: This might be a positive for you, but it bothered me - You are completely cut off. I had no cell phone reception and the wifi is limited to the hotel lobby at a rate of $9. Can't access internet from your room. The lodge isn't located in a town - unless you are camping, there isn't a lot to do once the sun sets. Food is expensive (which is to be expected) but it tastes terrible. There is only 1 restaurant on the grounds and only 1 bar. The nearest towns are about 30 minutes away. It had great amenities, fireplace, fantastic balcony overlooking babbling brook. As convenient as you can get outside of yosemite. I liked it and I'd recommend it. Some of the staff were kind of depressing though, and they were terribly inflexible about early check in. They did give an hour extra for late check out and that was nice.

Great place to stay nearby Yosemite; pet friendly too. Highly recommended!

This lodge was fine, the restaurant very good and location just outside the park entrance convenient, unless you thought you were staying on the Valley Floor! The name is almost the same as the one in the park. Yosemite Lodge-at the falls! Tried hard not to book this one and somehow we ended up here. So we were dissappointed but it turned out that this […] lodge had a lot of facilities, balconies, kitchenette and more than there would have been at the Yosemite Lodge -at the falls. The Yosemite View Lodge was a great place to stay for our family of 4. Very clean and comfortable and so close to the park. I loved the little kitchenette! Had a nice dinner at the restaurant on the premises. I would definitely stay again.

This is a very convenient place to stay without having to pay high priced park hotel/lodge fees. The upgrade to a creekside room was well worth it. The room was very roomy, cozy with the gas fireplace, and we used the in-room jacuzzi each night. We would come back and we recommend it to others.

Our trip was a last minute decision. YVL had vacancies available. Turns out they're the last hotel west of the Yosemite west entrance. Surrounded by the beautiful Sierras, and right on the Merced river. Our patio was facing the river. Spectacular! We wished we had booked for more than one night. We will next time. We stayed at the Yosemite view lodge in October for 2 nights. The hotel room was good. This is quite a big hotel complex. It is literally right outside the entrance to Yosemite, About a 10 min drive to Main area. It had indoor and outdoor pools which were good. I would stay here if inside of Yosemite is fully booked. We had a pizza from hotel and it […] was good as there are no other places to eat near hotel. Yosemite NP is one of the most spectacular places i have ever seen. Even though the decor is a little bit outdated, the rooms are spacious and comfortable. We especially enjoyed the kitchenette.

Good quality motel. Great location.

Lodge is right outside the west gate. Staff were efficient and helpful. The room did not have a clock which was annoying. However, the jacuzzi tub was great. There are also hot tubs outside right next to the river. Dogs are welcome which was a huge bonus. There is a fully stocked convenience store on the site and a nice restaurant. Choices for dining were pretty limited but that of course was a function of the location. There was a small store in the front building/office, items very high priced of course. Also a convenience store within 1/2 mile of hotel, but also very high price. We got a pizza from the hotel's restaurant; it was pretty good, cost about $18 for a medium size […] (8 slices). There are stoves and small refrigerators in the rooms (at least ours)...if we go ever stay at this hotel again, we'll be bringing some food and preparing it in the room. Pros:Plenty of parking. View of river was nice. Check-in/out was fast. Resturant was nice and food was ok. Easy access to park. Cons: It is an older hotel, so it could use some renovations. Hot tubs were broken. Had to go to the office to get towels for the pool/spa.

YVL is located nicely alongside the Merced river, we had a great view of the hotel. Suggestions for the hotel: 1) Provide more food choices on site 2) Develop a walking path along the river

Well equipped tourist shop on site. Large room for four people. Well equipped kitchenette. Fireplace and huge twin spa bath and twin shower - what a treat. The added bonus was the racoon that greeted us on the verandah and the river out the back door. Great access to Yosemite park. Yes, it's close to the park but that's all it had going for it. It's in a sad state and is in deparate need of an update. We weren't expecting anything fancy, but the beds and beddings look and feel like their 20 years old. The heater unit is extremely loud and makes it difficult to sleep. The pizza place on site is good. The restaurant isn't bad either, […] but it's pricey for what it is. The staff is also not very helpful or friendly. Beautiful setting and closer to Yosemite than I had imagined. Pizza was good! Our room lighting was poor and the TV remote didn't work. I would go again and recommend to friends!

Absolutely lovely hotel. Love the room w/ Merced River view right below the balcony. Everything is clean. Food is great. I will have no hesitation to go back if we need to revisit again.

Yosemite view lodge is very near to the entrance of Yosemite national park so it's very convenient to stay in this hotel. Condition and comfort is acceptable.

The restaurant was deplorable, but I really appreciated both the spa tub in our bathroom and the outdoor hot tub within earshot of the bubbling Merced River. The YARTS bus conveniently stopped outside. My parents room had wet carpets and poorly functioning heat. I did love the gas fireplace and outdoor seating by the river.

Waterfall below our porch was beautiful. Just at the entrance to Yosemite.

The grounds are well maintained but the interiors are a bit frumpy and 1960's in style. Roomy bathroom and small kitchenette as extras were appreciated. Convenient location cannot be beat. Bring some convenience foods and snacks. Good food is always problematic in and near Yosemite Park...Ya can't have everything! The scenery of the park is supurb and […] just a few miles up the road. We had a wonderful stay and felt the hotel offered everything we needed. The view from the balcony was wonderful and our room was clean and comfortable. We also enjoyed the fireplace in our room. We plan to return again soon.

Paid a few extra $ to get a room with a view to the river. Got a big, comfortable room with a beautifull view up the river towards Yosemite Valley. Great room with a fireplace. Would certainly recommend it to others - close to Yosemite Valley, nice restaurants and a small shop next to the reception with all your necessaties.

Its in the middle of nowhere, so an oasis for sure. Good to have such a place in yosemite where one would find it difficult to get anything. Only concern, front desk never pick up when u dial 0. pathetic.

Clean well-maintained hotel.. Helpful staff.. Would have been nice to have blinds on the bathroom window facing the walkway outside the rooms.

This place was pretty nice and very close to the Arch Stone entrance. It was about 6 miles to yosemite valley. We were very lucky because we went towards the end of october so it was not very crowded. It is in the middle of nowhere and there are only two places to eat outside of the park, which wasnt that big of a deal. The hotel restaurant which was […] a bit pricey, but they served large portions and the pizza place which we didnt got to, but I heard it was good. There is a mini store in the hotel and another one down the street about a 1/2 mile. The prices are a bit higher, so if you can bring your own snacks, drinks, and, breakfast stuff as they have a fridge and stove at the hotel if you are down to do a little cooking. Continua a leggere

Terrific location - shame we only stayed 1 night, located just outside the park. large beautifully furnished rooms. huge bath the kids thought it was a swimming pool in the bathroom. balcony opens to the yosemite river, to sit on the balcony and listen to the gushing water over the rapids was very serene. the hotel sits at the base of a tall mountain […] range, very beautiful location, large property heaps of parking (free) choice of pools and spas. Onsite resturant and pizza palour so you wont go hungry. Hotel reception also has an ajoining grocery/gift shop for all essential needs including alcohol.
