La colazione era poco varia e scarsa. Poco attenti alla pulizia dei tavoli nei cambi degli ospiti durante la colazione. La camera confortevole e pulizia giornaliera con cambio asciugamani e lenzuola a giorni alterni.

L'hotel 17 è un'ottima scelta per un soggiorno a New York, con un eccellente rapporto qualità rapporto/prezzo. La posizione è tra i suoi pregi migliori, logisticamente comodo per spostarsi anche a piedi sia verso il nord che verso il sud di manhattan, e il quartiere offre una vasta scelta di ristoranti e locali per cene e colazioni. Le camere sono abbastanza grandi e pulite, il bagno condiviso non lo abbiamo praticamente mai trovato occupato e sempre pulito.

L'hotel è nuovo e si trova in una buona posizione, a due passi dal Madison Square Garden e da Times square. La camera era grande ed i letti molto comodi. Uniche due pecche significative sono state, la wifi in camera funziona molto male (meglio nella lobby) e il pavimento che non è mai stato lavato (i calzini antiscivolo delle bambine erano neri dopo 5 minuti). Inoltre non vengono forniti accessori da bagno tipo le cuffie per fare la doccia.

Bellissima permanenza, punto ideale per visitare la città collegatissimo e a due passi dalla 5th. Camera non enorme ma comfortevole, sempre pulita e molto curata nell'arredamento. Albergo ad altissimo livello, se avete qualche soldino da spendere andateci. Enjoy NYC

l'hotel si trova in una posizione molto buona a due passi da time sq e dalla metro.. il personale è gentile e le camere ben tenute, nonostante l'età dell'edificio. La nostra camera era abbastanza grande e la pulizia sempre buona. Ci tornerei sicuramente!

Buonissima scelta, quella di pernottare all'hotel St. James! Posizione davvero ottima, proprio a due (davvero due!) passi da Time Square! L'hotel non è di recente ristrutturazione ma tutto sommato confortevole! Personale cordiale e gentile.

"small and noisy but in the right spot"
the hotel has very small rooms, bathroom is ok, but they save on towel dimension as well. WiFi is very unstable or with limited connetivity. People at the Reception and Concierge are very nice and will always try to help. The hotel has one more advantage: it's only a few meters away from Time square. Rooms are clean, AC is extremely noisy and not efficient. […] So as said if you are looking for a small and not so expensive hotel in midtown this is it. But the rest is not really actrative. questo albergo e senzaltro vecchio e un po trasandato ma la sua posizione in times square e comodissima. noi siamo stati 6 giorni senza problemi ma non guardavamo il comfort. il fatto che era cosi vicina al centro piu che paga la scelta
"Tiny room, no window!"
The room was very small, you couldn't almost walk around the bed, there was no space for our luggage. The bed was supposed to be a king size instead was a queen, way too small for 2 people. ... and then, the surprise: the window was looking into a dark and dirty court, you couldn't even see the sky from there!!! L'albergo è un due stelle mal conservato ma è talmente centrale che ci tornerei! E' a circa 100 metri da Times Square ed un paio di avenues (cinque minuti a piedi) dalla 5a Strada. ll personale è disponibilissimo, le camere sono pulite, ad un paio di metri ci sono due locali dove si può mangiare o fare colazione. Posizione ottima in quanto a 2 minuti a piedi da Time Square. Si utlizzano tutte le linee metropolitane che passano da Time Square pertanto si è collegati molto bene al nord e al sud di Manatthan. Pulizie delle camere eccelente, vista dalla stanza orribile ( ma a chi interessa ?). Non si può fare colazione ma attaccato all' hotel ci sono due ottimi […] posti self service + Starbucks dove poter fare colazione. Per chi non ha particolari pretese, per chi utilizza l`hotel solo come punto di appoggio .... sicuramente il compromesso che offre il St.James e' accettabile e non ha nulla da invidiare agli altri per la posizione nel cuore di Time Square.

Reception: solo un dipendente si è dimostrato gentile ed efficiente, uno invece è stato particolamente scortese. Camera: abbiamo provato due camere al 12° piano, entrambe avevano finestre con condizionatore nella parte inferiore chiuso in modo approssimativo con plexiglass facendo quindi entrare molto rumore (in quella lato strada ci faceva svegliare […] alle 6 del mattino, risolto coi tappi). La luce dalle finestre è filtrata solo da veneziane malandate e quindi insufficienti. Abbiamo dovuto usare delle coperte per ridurre un po la luce. Bagno: il primo era un po vetusto ma accettabile, il secondo era un po più recente ma comunque di livello mediocre. Per lo scopo della vacanza erano comunque entrambi accettabili. Servizio in camera e pulizie: buono, l'addetta comunque lascia una busta con la richiesta di mancia. Deposito bagagli: comodo. Un sistema elettronico gestisce dei box di due dimensioni profondi circa 1m. Nei box grandi quindi ci possono stare anche 2 valigie. Nel nostro caso i box grandi erano esauriti e quindi abbiamo dovuto prendere 1 box piccolo per valigia (una c'è entrata per miracolo) pagandoli 5$ l'uno. Nella ricevuta viene stampato il codice per lo sblocco del box. Il deposito è di max 24 ore. Posizione: super, si è praticamente a Times Square. Conclusione: visto il prezzo sconsiglio questo hotel, ma se non si trova di meglio armarsi di tappi per le orecchie e maschera per la luce! Continua a leggere
"posizione perfetta"
Un albergo ad un prezzo economico, pulito e nella posizione più centrale di New York.....mi sembra perfetto! Alla reception sono stati sempre molto cortesi, educati e pronti a darti una mano. L'arredamento delle camere è un po' spartano ma va più che bene e a volte i termosifoni fischiano un po' ma mai in modo fastidioso. Lo consiglio alla grande!

Albergo in posizione centrale, tutto a portata di mano, ristoranti, metro, treni, gadget. L'albergo non è nuovissimo ma la posizione centrale compensa tutto.bagni privati per ogni camera con vasca/doccia, pulito, cortesi e disponibilissimi. io avevo una camera che dava all'interno, quindi nessuna vista dalla finestra ma tranquillità e silenzio ottimi […] per riposare. se posso dare un consiglio non limitatevi a girare il centro ma muovetevi con la metro per visitare tutto il resto di manhattan. L'albergo è situato in una zona centrale e vicino alle fermate della metropolitana! E' carino, le camere sono pulite, alcune un po' piccole, ma confortevoli. Nelle immediate vicinanze è possibile fare colazione in un locale grande e ben fornito, aperto tutto il giorno.

L'hotel si trova in una posizione eccellente. Oltre la reception, ottima, l'impressione iniziale non è ottima per la manutenzione non eccellente però nonostante questo la pulizia è ottima e la camera confortevole

molto comodo come posizione anche per i servizi, metro, bancomat e un posto per fare colazione aperto 24h accanto all'hotel economico e buono rispetto alla media. lati negativi: strada rumorosa e camere piccolissime e fredde, bisogna insistere un po' per farsi accendere il riscaldamento. rapporto qualità prezzo ottimo. pulito.

Hotel a due passi di numero da Time Square, zona teatri di Brodway e la 5th e a tre passi da Central Park. Ha tutto il necessario per un soggiorno comodo e confortevole. Pulito, con cambio giornaliero degli asciugamani. Staff gentile. Soddisfatta della scelta!

This Hotel is the best to spend a week-end in Brodway. with this price you buy that! Not to bad the rooms, for some nights you can stay.. - Per passare un WE in Brodway va bene, nel prezzo di fatto paghi quello, camere modeste ma confortevoli, per qualche notte ok!

I enjoyed my overnight stay and was able to walk to just about everything on my to do list - broadway, good food & shopping. I honestly liked the ambiance but I'm not a new & shiny kind of girl. I could not believe the condition of the room. I have stayed at Motels in the past that is more update. The furniture, television, carpet and furniture was so outdated. Even the Radiators in the room looks like what was in my Grandmother's old house. The lobby of the hotel is a little tired. My room was perfectly fine, clean and comfortable. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I had wireless in my room based on reviews I had read. All in all, a good value.

"Best value for money hotel in NY"
We are a family of four on a 3 month holiday. We stayed in NY for 5 nights at the St James Hotel. The website and comments state the condition of hotel & rooms very well. It is so close to Times Square and many other fantasic NY sights ... we walked everywhere. The hotel is old and looking a bit tired, but it is clean and tidy. The rooms are very small […] (especially for four peope sharing 2x double beds), but also clean & tidy. A few minor grumbles were - the noise ... NY is noisy anyway, so just need to get on with it, but there is contruction going on a few doors down and that kept us awake early & late (even ear plugs didn't help!) ... also the room was very hot, we couldn't turn the heating down. The big pluses for us for this hotel were, the location, the free wifi, the cleanliness, the value for money and finally one of the 'front of staff' Joey ... he was absolutely awesome, from the time he welcomed us at 7pm when we arrived, to the time we left. Our kids absolutely loved him and drew a picture for him + insisted we left him a NZ gift and tip. He couldn't have been more helpful ... from assisting us to get to a baseball game (Mets lost!) to advice on where to eat ...10 out of 10 for Joey for us. Continua a leggere

Spacious room in good location BUT no drapes on the large windows just translucent miniblinds leaving the room light at night AND heavy, long term construction on the 45st side (rooms X02 thru X05). Note X = floor number. Other rooms may also be noisey in the morning cement trucks, hammering, heavy equiptment, etc.

"Hotel St. James in NYC"
I stayed at the Hotel St. James in April with my best friend to celebrate her 50th birthday. When we first checked in we were given rooms on the 12th floor and were told nicer rooms would be available the next day and we could switch. I would have been fine with the 12th floor, but my window did not close/lock properly, and there was a fire escape out […] the window. We did move to the 8th floor the next day, nicer and larger rooms. My room was in the back of the hotel and had little, if any warm water for showers. My friends room faced 45th street and she had plenty of hot water but her internet access was not as good as mine. The hotel staff are very friendly and accomadating and the hotel is in an excellent location. There was no air conditioning in any of the 4 rooms that we saw, which could be a factor in the warmer months. Also, there was no way to control the room temperature (radiator heat), but we never felt our rooms were cold. I would stay here again but it would depend on the time of year. I would also request a room toward the street, noiser no doubt but hot water in the shower would make up for it. I know they are renovating rooms so maybe they will have that all worked out soon. Hot water was a scarcity and it was necessary to run the water for almost 15 minutes (a waste) in order to get some that was hot. Our room was on the 6th floor and the street noise all night was very loud. There was no ice available (at least on our floor). The room and sheets were very clean. Leaving your key at the desk is strange, but required. Good […] wi-fi for free in the room. Nice staff, tried to be helpful. Great little cafe open 24/7 right next door..... so lack of coffee machine wasn't too miserable. The price is reasonable.... but I'd be reluctant to recommend it unless people understand what they are getting (or not getting). The entrance and loby of this hotel are very nice. The rooms are like Motel 6-bear minimum, except at Motel 6 I think the plumbing works...
"Not recommended"
This hotel was sad-as in run down, poorly maintained and quite dirty. The only bright spot was the pleasantness of the front desk staff. But that's just not enough for me. It was not worth the few dollars saved and next time I will cut corners on something else, but not the hotel.

"Great Hotel"
Great Hotel. Nice firm bed. In NY to see shows and eat, walk around. Get location In Times Square. Could get everywhere we needed to be by foot or just a short subway ride. Great deli and restaurant right next door.

Hotel St. James is a very nice hotel with a friendly staff, conveniently located and it appears to be well maintained. However, it is mostly just a place to sleep. Although they advertise WiFi, don't expect to have anything usable. The TV was very small and appeared to be an afterthought. There was no pen and paper common with a hotel room (yea, a small […] thing, but try to write something down when nothing exists). The front desk staff was very friendly and I can tell they were used to dealing with complaints about the WiFi. The rooms were spacious, especially for a times square hotel. It has a very good location and the staff is friendly, however the hotel needs some work done. I would not recommend it if you have to stay more than 3 nights.
Room was very small. It was very hot in the room. iit had an old fashion radiator that banged all night long.Great location. Close to everything.

Hotel had an excellent location, however the decor was dated and the window mini blinds didn't cover the entire window. Also the bathroom window didn't lock and this made me nervous as I was traveling alone eventhough the room was on the 11th floor. The room was very clean, however the walls were thin and I could hear my neighbor's tv and alarm that […] he/she hit snooze on 7 times in the early morning which didn't make it a great way to wake up. "Excellent hotel throughout"
When i had booked this hotel the reveiws on trip advisor give it 3-4 out of 5, some where good some not so good, you are always apprehensive until you actually see it for your own eyes, there where no surprises at all, loved every thing about the hotel. I would recomemend it to anyone.

OK, it is not The Plaza. If you want the Plaza, book a room at The Plaza...and pay 10 times as much. Hotel St. James has it's own kind of charm. Yes, our room looked like it has not been vacuumed in a while, but the bathroom was spotless. Yes, the furniture in the room looks like it was taken out of my 1970's dorm, but they do give you extra pillows […] and blankets. I wish I had gotten the name of the gentleman who checked us in, and was there most week days to give us the key to our room, but you could not have had a more friendly, gregarious person. He works days during the week. I have stayed here 4 times before and keep coming back because of the price and location, and best of all we never caught any "critters" from there, unlike some other fancier places. Who stays in their room while in NYC anyway? BTW...my favorite restaurant in NYC, Bond 45, is across the street. Continua a leggere
