"Nice room for the price"
I would definitely stay at the Colfax Inn again. Actually my wife and I are thinking about going to the state fair and we'll probably check into the Colfax Inn for that trip. The room was clean, comfortable and very spacious ( we had the deluxe king). The hotel was probably half full the night we stayed and you couldn't tell there was anyone else there. […] The breakfast was good, it's nice to have some hot items on the breakfast. They had waffles and biscuits and gravy the morning we were there. The only thing that I could count down for was the hot tub was out of order but that's not something I would hold against them. Hotel was run down, hot tub was still broken (I had read reviews of it being broken 4 months prior, but assumed this would be fixed). Breakfast was nothing to be desired! Will not be staying again.

We enjoyed a very comfortable night at the Colfax inn and would recommend it to anyone needing a place to stay! The staff were very nice and easy to work with and the breakfast in the morning was very good!

"Decent, afordable, but needs some touching up"
This hotel used to be run by one of the larger chains a year or so ago, but is now privately run. The room was nice and very well priced, but there were obvious signs of past damage, with poorly patched walls and bath tub. It wasn't a bad place to stay, but the blemishes somewhat diminished my overall impression.

this hotel changed hands sometime this past year and the new people are inept. they do not know how to process reservations from hotels.com, they have no help to keep up with a large crowd, they are unable to cancel or change reservations without the guest calling some other manager at a long distance number. The hotel was not clean, snow not shoveled, […] the heater in the pool broken, and the continental breakfast was a sham., Overall, although the rooms were cheap, the hospitality was terrible and we all felt unwanted there. Very disappointed! It was price at ____ but got it for ___. It is only worth ___ like Motel 6. Heat control difficult to get right. Too hot. Floor was dirty. Hot Tub was broken. Swimming pool just bearly fit three families. No newspaper available. Shower had poor spray. Little accessories; one shampoo, one soap, no pen or paper like most places at this […] price. My only problem was the pool. My boys couldn't swim because the water was too cold. So I had some pretty bored boys... But I would stay again, after checking about the water temp.

"Colfax Inn--A Quiet Place to Stay"
We received a VERY good price from Hotels.com for the Colfax Inn and we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The Inn was very clean and was much better than some motels where we have stayed that cost twice the price. It was very quiet (although it wasn't full when we were there). "convenient location and nice price"
The hotel and staff were nice. Really good prices. The only complaints were that the walls are paper thin so you can hear everyone else in the hotel. There were also some bright outside spot lights shining inside our room and the curtains could not completely cover it.

"Great for the price"
Stayed here for two nights. The staff is extremely pleasant and helpful. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. They are quite large for the price you pay. The only downside is how far away from everything this hotel was. Most of what I had to do was in Des Moines which is a 20-30 minute drive from the hotel.

We had a one night stay as we were driving cross country, so we stayed at the Colfax Inn. The staff was very friendly, and we had a good breakfast to start the next leg of our road trip. We would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Des Moines area.
"Good hotel-better signage would help"
Hotel was perfectly placed for what I needed, staff was great, hotel clean, pool etc. My only problem was that my confirmation said "Colfax Inn" but the hotel said "Comfort Inn." I saw no reference to Colfax Inn and drove around for 15 minutes trying to find it. It was an awesome value, but the different names was confusing.
Stayed for a quick weekend family get together. Booked at a discounted rate so the price was very attractive. Nice hotel, friendly staff, Breakfast included. (was OK). Pool was nice since trip was in early winter, but Hot tub was not working.

people at the front desk was amazing, the hotel makes you feel like home, nice breakfast, the inside pool was great, a nice place for rest, and, i repeat the owners, managers or whatever they are, the couple at the front desk was the greatest people on earth!! they care about everything and do everything they can to make your stay better

"Nice Affordable Stay"
Stayed 2 nights in a King Deluxe Room. The room was clean, the staff was very friendly and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was wonderful - really liked the blueberry waffles and sausage and biscuits. The only criticism I would make was that the pool water was a bit too cool and cloudy for my liking. The staff was very friendly and rooms were very clean, but the hot tub wasn't working. Overall I would stay there again.
This was a very comfortable hotel and close to I-80; however, there were few places in the immediate area to eat except for McDonalds. The hotel and room were clean and I found it ideal for a 2-day stay for business. I will stay here again in the future.

"Great Location"
We didn't arrive until 2am and had two small dogs with us. Check in was quick and easy! The location was perfect and not hard to find. Right off of the interstate. The hotel was clean and quiet. The water was hot in the shower and the beds were clean and comfortable. The room had the heater going perfectly when we arrived. Only complaint is the guy […] snoring in the room next to us made our one dog growl through out the night. Walls were a little thin, or mqybe he snored a little loud? We were going to the racetrack in Newton, so the location was very convenient. The hotel was clean and we felt safe. However, when we checked in there was more paperwork than I've ever filled out in a hotel before. We booked 3 rooms for 3 couples and all of us had to fill out papers. I thought that was a little unnecessary and inconvenient. The air […] conditioner wasn't great, as our sheets felt sticky from the humidity in the room. "Quiet. Great location."
Traveling from Colorado to Wisconsin, I needed a hotel in a quiet, but convienent, location - and Comfort Inn Colfax fit the bill. I just needed a place to sleep, shower and grab a bite of breakfast. The pool was open late, there's a computer with internet in the lobby, breakfast includes waffles, toast, pastries, cereal, biscuits and gravy, juice, […] fruit and yogurt. Room was large, quiet and clean. Well lit parking lot. Gas station and McDonalds across the street - and hotel is right off the highway (but you can't hear traffic noise). Nothing fancy, nice pool, close to two good restaurants in Colfax: Papa Georgios and Poppys. 15 minutes to Adventureland and to the Neil Smit National Prarie Refuge. More amenities for the buck than comparable hotels closer to Des Moines. Drive a little, save a little, quiet location.

Excellent location just off the interstate easy access. Gas station/convenience store plus McDonalds accross the street. Motel seemed new and clean. Included menus to two resturants in Colfax. Good breakfast in the morning. Nice area for our dog. Would plan on staying there again.

Right off of the interstate (easy to find) and a friendly greeting upon arrival. Top it off with fresh chocolate chip cookies and a phone call to the room to see if everything was good and the service surpassed my expectations. Clean, comfortable, quiet. Nice.
