Bellissimo Hotel. Ottima posizione, poichè si trova sulla passeggiata di fronte all'oceano, a pochi passi da Ghirardelli square dove si possono fare delle colazioni squisite. Gentilissimo e professionale lo staff dell'albergo. Stanza comoda, grande, pulita. Bagno perfetto. Internet gratuito e funzionante anche dalla camera. Ci tornerei.

Our family of 4 from Australia stayed at the Argonaut in January 2013 and haven't stopped raving about it to everyone we know who is travelling to the USA. It was our favourite hotel on a 5 week trip across multiple states of the USA. Although the room was lovely (we had an inside double deluxe overlooking the central courtyard) and we enjoyed the historic […] building and convenient location close to the Cable car turnaround, the thing that set the Argonaut apart was the warm and friendly staff. Our girls loved the treasure chest, the scavenger hunt and being able to "babysit" a goldfish in the room. We all loved the afternoon hot chocolate and evening wine hour where we met many other families for a good chat. It was a real highlight and we only wish we lived closer to be able to visit the Argonaut frequently. Continua a leggere

There is construction all around the hotel right now which makes it hard to enter. Also, be careful when booking to request a view. We got stuck in an interior room with NO view. It sucked. But once we turned out the lights, it didn't matter. I definitely wouldn't have spent another night there - would have moved for a view.

The only thing I would mention is the bed could have been a little more comfortable. After three nights my back was hurting. The Blue Mermaid restaurant is in the hotel, the food and service were very good and convenient.

I have stayed at the Argonaut several times. A definite must try hotel. The surrounding road construction makes access difficult at the moment from personal auto but otherwise a grade "A" hotel. Staff is super!

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We were traveling with our two kids (14 & 10) and we were all comfortable in our room. Would have been nice to have a sofa in the room so we weren't all sitting on the beds to watch TV in the evenings. The location was fabulous. You provided Starbuck coffee in the room which was great, however you provided this packaged cream which I would not even give to my dog. Have you read the description of the ingredients in this package? You could provide the international coffee cream in the little small cups like Best Western does. This was wonderful with great service! Loved the free wine hour in the longe area every night. Beds are lovely. The entire staff was awesome.The only negative was the $52.00/day parking cost.

We had a marvellous time at the Argonaut Hotel. The hotel was clean and well appointed. Room was clean and tidy and the breakfast was good (if a little pricey) in the Blue Mermaid. Can heartily recommend the hotel to anyone wanting to stay in the Fisherman's Wharf area of San Francisco. Totally loved this place. We stayed in a suite overlooking the bay. It was bit noisy in the morning sue to construction but that won't always be there. That was the only con about this place. EVERYTHING else was a PRO. We could not have been happier with everything from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. Extremely friendly and helpful staff who cater to your every need. You can't beat the location - right on Fisherman's Wharf and Aquatic Park. Don't get an ocean view room on the ground or 2nd floor, as motorcycles seem to come roaring by every 15 minutes. The Cannery side is much quieter. Repeat visitor. Great location for tourists. Have been here a few times. Also, one of the few better hotels that provide free internet. The only issue is that there is major construction on local roads, but looks like coming to and end. Not the hotel's fault.

overall, it was excellent, despite the most clueless concierge and desk personnel encountered anywhere in a long time. i don't know. perhaps this american-living-abroad has not realized just how pervasively we in america have been dumbed-down, but the failure of basic knowledge by all of the people at the concierge desk about the area, services, restaurants, […] retailers, etc., was breathtaking. oddly enough, everything else about the hotel was great -- and we were not compromised by the concierge; just had to figure everything out on our own. We had 1 nights in San Francisco and having spent a week in an RV we thought, "let's treat ourselves". The hotel was expensive but the glowing reviews justified it. We arrived to a construction site outside the hotel (nothing they can do about that but a little discount for the inconvenience and noise would have been appreciated) but promptly met be […] concierges at the door. The 1st tip for transporting our bags from the taxi to the reception was handed over (Just $2 but we were unsure what the going rate is for tipping). The reception staff were very helpful and helped us to plan what little time we have in San Fran. 2nd tip to the Bell Boy for transferring our bags from reception to our room (this time we splashed out $4!). Our room was advertised as a bay view room - which is true but at 45 degree angel and a little imagination. We had the misfortune of opening a bottle of water each, which we naively thought to be complimentary but was actually $3 each! We ventured out and returned to our room later that evening. Turned on the TV to find nothing was free, not even any cable TV! Our nights sleep was frequently disturbed by an obviously troubled local in-coherently shouting (again nothing much you can do but it did spoil our sleep). Overall a comfortable stay but for the price we wouldn't expect to have to pay for everything! Continua a leggere

Fantastic location near to Fisherman's Wharf and next to the Hyde St. tram stop. Only downside is its about 2 miles from the nearest station if you get the BART from the airport and the walk is a challenge to say the least (famous seven hills) so get a taxi would be my advice. Hotel and rooms were very clean and had good facilities. The restaurant/bar […] on site is good and very reasonably priced as well but also plenty of great seafood restaurants and bars nearby. It's hard to find a NICE hotel that's affordable AND very pet friendly! My pugs were spoiled with attention and treats upon check-in and check-out. Excellent, prompt service, and great amenities, but the fact that our hotel room looked out onto the street and people walking by could look in was a bit disconcerting.

Overall the hotel was cute, clean, conveniently located. The only downside was they were cleaning the hallway carpets and it smelled like wet dog. And there is road construction being done right in front of the hotel and for several blocks down. Not their fault, but wish i would have known.

Argonaut is always great, location is great, and staff is wonderful. Very close to major attractions and the Buena Vista. Parking is very expensive if you have to park overnight, but hey that San Francisco. Free wine happy hour is a plus too

Great location for family vacation, edge of fisherman's wharf, next to cable car turnaround and large park with views of Golden Gate bridge and Alcatraz. Hotel was first rate with great service from front desk personnel. Valet parking was a little slow at times, but due to traffic. Would stay again. Be warned that there is construction along the road […] right in front of the hotel as of 3/20 and will probably last for another month. A minor inconvenience but you should be aware. We enjoyed this hotel SO much! It's a fun, vibrant atmosphere with a fabulous, helpful staff. At 5PM, the lobby comes alive for a complimentary wine/beer happy hour. The place is bustling with an energetic gathering of travelers from all over the map! Don't skip renting bikes at Blazing Saddles, next door to the hotel and ride over the Golden Gate bridge […] to Sausalito. The fabulous concierge alerted me that the first 4 people who come to her desk when it opens at 8AM each day receive free bike rental vouchers for the day. Parking is an additional $50/day. It is important to call down about 15 minutes before you need your car as it takes a while for the valet to bring it around. Our room was generous in size, the bathroom however was typical, on the small side. We were on the 2nd floor which was nice as the gym is there too and it is clean and well equipped, but head out for a run or walk along the wharf. The weekends are full of athletes doing this and the Argonaut will give you a cute flask type water bottle upon your return! The only negative was a wedding Saturday night with pounding music that lasted until midnight. I called the front desk to inquire about it and they couldn't have been more apologetic. Not their fault, I realize, so it was quite a nice extension of hospitality when a bottle of wine was sent to our room with a beautiful note as well as a reduction to our incidentals bill. Staying at the Wharf makes for an easy launching pad for many SF tourist activities. The boat to Alcatraz is just a mile down the Wharf and the open-air double-decker sightseeing bus in right nearby, too. If you want the cable car, it is just outside the hotel to the left. From the moment we arrived, we wished we'd booked to stay for longer! The Argonaut is an old warehouse which has been stylishly converted into an extremely welcoming and comfortable hotel. Ideally located in Fisherman's Wharf, the hotel is perfectly positioned to explore the wharf, Alcatraz, hire bicycles (highly recommended!) or take a trolley ride. […] It actually overlooks the bay and Alcatraz - you couldn't wish for a better location. The decor has a nautical theme, yet is extremely cosy with exposed brickwork, large open fire with comfy chairs in the lobby and impeccably clean and comfortable guest rooms with all the amenities you need. The hotel offers complimentary hot chocolate from 2pm-4pm daily, and a complimentary wine hour from 5pm-6pm daily which is a perfect opportunity to meet fellow guests. Outside construction, don't believe it is related to the hotel itself, just happens the city is renovating a couple of blocks by the fisherman's wharf, and one of those blocks takes up the hotel so it gets super noisy in the morning and you have to walk around the construction so a bit unpleasant.

We loved the visit and the hotel contributed to our enjoyment. We especially liked the friendliness of all the staff, the location of the hotel, the daily wine reception, the great breakfast restaurant! But our room overlooked a roof, and we could not even see a bit of sky! It was so narrow, each of us would have to wait while the other person passed. […] I am sure there are more conpmfortable rooms, and I would be sure to ask for such a room next time. Finally, the construction all along the main street that the hotel was on, scheduled to last for many months we were told, marred the ideal nature of the location.
