We enjoyed our stay very much. We stayed three nights. The location is convenient, it is on the Beach! The grounds are gorgeous, and very mature, flowers everywhere. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We could walk down the beach, and connect with different resorts that are located next to the Plantation.

The garden view and lanai was nice. I was expecting two double beds, they had only a King. I had to use the sofabed in the Living Room. We were given a "quiet' room far from the street because I requested that for the baby, and they assured me the bar closed at 9pm, however, they didn't mention the noisy bar (sounded like a sports bar) across the street […] with people cheering late into the night. Luckily it was cool at night and we were able to close the windows, there was no A/C. I was also expecting a washer and dryer in the room, but there wasn't. We had to walk or drive our dirty diapers regularly to the guest laundry at the other end of the complex. The pool was not at an easy walking distance, we had to drive across the street to it away from the beach. The beach area did not have restrooms and we had to change the baby's diapers in a public restroom on the concrete floor. They didn't mention there were steps to get to the room which was difficult with the stroller. They only did the beds and exchanged towels twice in a ten day period and did not do any vacuuming, (that srvice was extra) we had to borrow a vacuum from housekeeping. Given what I have experienced at other places nearby (Sheraton & Marriott), I think it was overpriced. Continua a leggere

With a 3 star rating, I was expecting a somewhat tacky resort (similar to the 3 star hotel we stayed at in Waikiki) but I was pleasantly mistaken by the Outrigger Kiahuna! Our condo was tastefully decorated and clean and the resort grounds are perfectly manicured and beautifully situated on the beach. My only complaint would be the construction work […] that was happening in the condo below us.... Fortunately, Kauai is so beautiful that we were out of the condo most morning before 9am when they started their work and they were done by the time we were back for dinner. Thanks! We enjoyed our stay very much, we were upgraded to a 2 bedroom condo which was amazing! Very clean and comfortable space. Easy access to beach. Exceeded expectations. Only thing we didn't care for was the pool being across the road. Expected more than one pool with so many buildings. But were usually at beach so not a big concern.

When I called two days before my arrival to comfirm the reservation they had me worried, the person at the desk couldn't find my reservation. After a few minutes of fumbling around he told me I was good to go. It was past 7:00pm when I arrived, the property was not well lite at all, couldn't see anything, the whole resort was almost pitch black. Internet […] connection was terrible, most of the time I was there I had to connect to someone elses Wi-Fi signal in order to get my lab top to work. I did alot of sight seeing, engaged in many other activaties on the island and didn't spend alot of time at the resort, there mostly during the evening hours. The beach area was nice but I later found a location where the locals hung out, the beach a Port Allen, It's worth the trip. Overall It wasn't a bad place to stay, would I come back, probably not many other nice reosrts to choose from in Kauai. Continua a leggere

We stayed at this resort with our son and overall it's good for families at a nice location. That said, I'll cut right to the few surprises we came across: - There's no daily cleaning of the room, only once half-way through the stay. - Partial ocean view meant from one spot in the main room one could ALMOST see a small piece of ocean when jumping up […] in the corner of the room. - No breakfast on site. - BIGGIE: The pool is NOT part of the resort and one has to take a 10 min walk across a busy street. Beautiful grounds and beach! Pool is across the highway and leaves a little to be desired. Hide-a-bed was old and uncomfortable, but everything else was comfortable, if a little plain jane. This is a privately owned condo, and nicer units can be found for less on VRBO.

Gorgeous grounds, helpful friendly staff, nicely equipped condo. Very comfortable place to stay. Nice to have a full kitchen, as restaurants in the area are pricy and not great.

We had unit 60, which was owned by a couple of clearly take pride in their condo. It was very inviting, and had EVERYTHING that you could wish for - a full kitchen with appliances, body boards and snorkel gear for the sea, music and DVDs for entertainment in the evening. Absolutely wonderful. We didnt want to leave!!

This hotel is located on absolutely beautiful grounds that are maintained extremely well--and only a few steps from Poipu Beach, one of the best winter-time beaches on Kaua'i. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and couldn't have been more helpful. The condition of our particular suite was disappointing--we were told that individual owners […] rent out their units so the quality of the units at the Kianhuna Plantation is fairly hit or miss. Apparently we missed. The coffee maker should have been replaced years ago and small things--for example the plug in the kitchen sink didn't fit--should be looked after. This was my fourth time at Kiahuna Plantation. On this trip I stayed in a 2 bedroom condo. It was beautifully furnished and had every amenity and appliance we could ask for including a washer and dryer. The view of the ocean was great even though it was in the partial ocean view category. The only disappointment was that housekeeping was supposed to […] come in the middle of our stay, however they did not show up. Six days with three adults and a toddler with no housekeeping got a little sticky (literally)! I think the housekeeping schedule should be every 2-3 days. Otherwise, it's my favorite place. The rooms are large. We stayed here because we have 2 kids that go to bed at 8:00. We had them sleep in the bedroom and we could hang out in the rest of the place or on the balcony without waking them up. We slept on the couch that converts to a bed. Not very comfortable unfortunately but it worked.

We would stay again! my 6 and 9 yr old loved the property. Beach location is great and property beautiful. Pool is not located on property but across street and hours were not very good so by the time we get back from day on island, pool would be closed. Would be nice if on property and longer hours. Clean, comfortable, well stocked w/kitchen supplies, everything working, nice surroundings, quiet. A bit of a walk to the beach and swimming pool. Not too big of a problem though. We honestly could have used a Vespa for this hotel. The beach was extremely far from our room and the pool was hidden across the street. If we had known how inconvenient the location of the rooms would be, we would have chosen another hotel. The property may be on the beach, but the rooms are far from the ocean. Staff members flew by in golf carts - […] which they definitely need to get around, but were not friendly or welcoming. Our first experience in the hotel was a hard sales pitch from the excursion desk, which we were directed to from the front counter upon check in. We were tired and just got in, but were hit hard with a sales pitch to book excursions immediately - there must be commission involved. On our way to our room, in the stair well entryway, there were bags of garbage piled in our way. It didn't have much of a vacation feel. We had to call and ask to have the garbage bags removed. Although the website for the hotel amenities notes that the rooms will be cleaned daily, they were only cleaned every third day. There was caked on dust on the doors and in the bathroom, and the room had appliances from the 80's. The cleaning staff did not refill the complementary coffee. We were also disappointed that there was no bar near the beach, only a towel station where we were subject to more excursion sales pitches. We wish we had paid less and gotten this standard of hotel, or paid more and gotten a better overall experience. We don't recommend this hotel. Continua a leggere

This is our second visit to Kiahuna and we loved it as much this time (family of 4) as we did 21 years ago on our honeymoon. Grounds are spacious and beautiful, all staff very friendly and professional, rooms lovely and airy, and proximity to beach couldn't be better. We'll definitely return, hopefully before another 21 years pass!

Very comfortable and upscale accomodations. The beach on the property was great and offered surfing lessons for the kids ($75). It was a little too challenging for me to swim, but the Poipu Beach is close by and very calm. Don't forget to kayak Wailua and drive up Waimai Canyons

This is an older outdated hotel that is pretty well maintained but in dire need of renovation. They only provide one "housecleaning" per week. It's a huge hotel site with dozens of multi-level complexes, so the lessons learned for us is to get a unit more centralized, on a lower level (the units have no elevators) and closer to the beach. The condo is very roomy bigger than other places we have stayed at, the kitchen was ok the cooking utensils could use an update, the knives were very dull and food stuck to the pots and pans, the pool was a big disappointment. it's across the busy street, closes at 6 pm not the most convenient for the kids. the beach hut for beach towels did not open […] early enough so if you had a early start to your day trip you were stuck with used towels. we learned to exchange for new ones the night before. the beach in front of the resort is not kid friendly as the week we were there was very windy and lots of big waves. far more than i expected for the price, as far as the room and privacy goes. The restaurant was very good, and many good ones nearby. Great amenities- full sized fridge, dishwasher, micro, toaster, coffee,etc- and granite counters = great room - bdrm, living room, large balcony, excellent bathroom - all very clean, nicely appointed. Great sized one bedroom apartment with a large kitchen, dinning room and living room. Also quiet other than the 6am rooster wake up call but I think you would get that anywhere since they are roaming all over the streets.

We enjoyed our stay. It was clean but the little things were left out. (a dead bug on the carpet remained throughout the week - I left it as a barometer of sorts.) We had a problem with our stove and oven and it was fixed promptly. The Expedia expert on-site was very helpful with activities info.

The staff was very friendly & wonderfully helpful. It is a large property that is nicely kept up. Nice beach in front with great views of the sunset and whale watching. The unit was not immaculate, but more than satisfactory. The only knock we had on the property was that the pool was off site, across the main street about a 5 minute walk, and didn't […] open until 9am and closed at 6pm. I have younger children who love the pools, so this wasn't ideal, but we just walked next door (which didn't take any longer than walking to out pool) and used the Sheratons waterfront pool facilities several times and were never questioned about being there, and they have a nice bar to eat at. It was certainly a good value and I feel it was as good as we expected, except for the pool situation which we worked around. We felt Poipu Beach Park was one of the best beaches on the island and is right next door. Nice shopping center, restraunts and small grocery store just across the street. Continua a leggere

Very nice hotel with immaculate grounds. The rooms are nice and spacious. The pool is a bit remote but a nice pool. The pool temperature could have been a little warmer. Happy hour at the pool resturant/bar was nice.

This was our fourth stay at the Kiahuna Plantation and we have always had a wonderful experience. The grounds are beautiful, the beach is wonderful and the snorkeling is awesome. I would recommend this location to anyone who is interested in spending time in paradise.

Kiahuna Plantation is a beautiful property with lush well maintained grounds. Walking through the property I was struck by the beauty of the enormous specimen trees and the orchid garden. This is not a sterile corporate style resort, but more, "Old Hawaii". It is the only condo resort on a swimmable beach in the Poipu area. We stayed in a two-bedroom […] townhouse style, (upstairs and downstairs) unit. I highly recommend these 2 bedroom units, as the one bedroom units are quite small. Our unit, (#64), has a very serene view of the gardens, tulip trees, plumeria trees, palm trees of course, and the beautiful white wooden footbridges that lead to the main lawn and the beach. It had two balconies upstairs, and a private patio off the master bedroom downstairs. (Both bdrms are downstairs-kitchen living, and dining are upstairs with an incredible vaulted ceiling and large private deck with lounges and a dining table). The kitchen is well equipped and includes dishwasher, micro, coffee pot, stove, oven and full sized fridge w/freezer. There is also a stack washer & dryer. The condo, especially upstairs, has a very polynesian feel with grand vaulted ceilings of dark wood, and plantation shutters and wooden louvers on windows. I love it so much, I wanted to buy it. (Can't afford it.) The onsite beach is a crescent shaped beach backed by the lawns and palm trees of the plantation. Beach chairs, drinks and water toys are available at the towel hut next to the beach. The beach is known as a good swimming beach. Our 12 year old, who isn't a strong swimmer, had a blast bobbing around in the water with small waves. The ONLY negative to the property, is that it doesn't have it's own pool. The Kiahuna swim club across the street is included in your stay, but it isn't as nice as most hotel pools for properties of this caliber. It does have a water slide, and our 12 year old didn't care that the pool was surrounded by a chain-link fence, but the pool seemed a bit tired to us. Still, the Continua a leggere

Kiahuna Plantation Resort (Outrigger) the most beautiful and relaxing atmosphere! Everything one needs to satisfy needs in the rental unit. We grocery shopped the first day on arrival, ate exactly what we wanted, when we wanted it and saved hundreds of dollars that could be used for other activities! Lovely beaches within steps, swimming pool with slide […] and tennis courts, shopping across the street, inexpensive car rentals allowed Island exploring and so many outdoor activities that would please any taste. Outrigger Kiahuna Plantation is a good value at a very good location for Kauai. This facility is not new by any means, so don't come expecting brand new shiny digs. However, the grounds and unit are well maintained, the staff is helpful and friendly and the location is excellent. The beach isn't the best for swimming, but a good swimming and snorkeling […] beach is a five minute walk away and you can do it from the beach. Poipu is a good middle ground for easily heading west to Waimea Canyon or north to Princeville / Hanelei. Units do not have air conditioning, but it is not a problem at all. We had upper-80s heat all week, but there was a constant sea breeze that flows through the units because of louvres and screens on the lanais and front doors. Came to Kaui for the soul purpose to relax. We did just that and more, The staff was incredilbly knowledgable and friendly. We could always count on the staff to recommend the various activities Kaui had to offer. Great fine dining and beautiful sunsets to end the day. Absolutely enjoyed our stay at Outrigger Kiahuna Plantation We will be back!

We really enjoyed the hotel, and the staff was amazing. The only problem for us was that each unit is individually owned. So, when we were staying in our room, an upper unit was being worked on, unbearable loud. We asked how long this would last, and was quoted all week, nothing on the weekends, and nothing after 5 pm. We then asked for a new room. […] My only suggestion, if you are going to stay longer than the weekend, ask the staff if there is any maintenance scheduled. Great place to stay however. Another issue, the property has two different, and differently owned registration areas. It was a little confusing, until I tried to pick up our room keys from the wrong registration desk. Accommodations were great. The room was comfortable and clean. The grounds are beautiful. Poipu is not my favorite part of this spectacular island and the Kiahuna Plantation beach and surrounding beaches are too small and crowded. It is convenient for traveling to the rest of the island, which is completely worth exploring.

This is a great place to bring the kid(s). Easy walking distance to great pool and beach, especially nearby Poipu Beach Park. The play structure there was awesome, and allowed my wife and I to take turns snorkeling. The restaurants are good (stick to the fish entrees, though) and service is warm and friendly. This is the second time I've stayed at the Outrigger Kiahuna Plantation and have been extremely pleased. The resort is well maintained and the service is great. The beach is just foot steps away and is great for the entire family. The setting is as the name states, plantation, which is completely tranquil and amazing. Having the kitchenette adds flexibility […] and cost savings by avoiding buying each meal at restaurants. Although the units don't have AC the louvered windows and screen doors provide natural ventilation which is more than adequate. I definitely would recommend Kiahuna Plantation to everybody that doesn't require a small over-price hotel room. A great value and convenient to nearby restaurants and shopping. Continua a leggere
