Legacy Botleigh Grange Southampton

A nice hotel but not the best. Bathroom needs attention around the bath which had mildew. Breakfast was good quality. Although there was a lot of rain in tis month large parts of the car park were flooded which made getting back in the car a challenge. The drainage does need looking at. Staff were pleasant.

Whilst facilities are "ok" at this hotel and the rooms have all the usual equipment, it's all in need of maintenance and updating. Furnishings are old and in need of replacing and the overall maintenance could be improved. Most shocking of all is that the hotel will charge you £4 for using a credit card! As I only needed to pay for a £20 food charge, […] this is a whopping 20% on the bill. First time a hotel has ever imposed this ridiculous charge. Only stayed for a single Sunday night for local business. Overall a very pleasant hotel in lovely surroundings generally well maintained obviously quite recently refurbished, but maintaining a period feel without kitsch. Room was well cleaned down-rated due to the presence of black mould on the silicone sealant around the bath (we all know how difficult […] that can be to get rid of). Service was efficient and polite, but reception was under-staffed with a bit of a wait for someone to come at check-in and out. First impressions, very grand and beautiful. Check in staff polite and informative. Room very clean and comfortable. Bath and Shower fantastic. Took 2 minutes to fill the bath, shower pressure very good. View from our room was wonderful, over the gardens and fishing lakes. Peaceful, surrounding. Only negative, drinks were pretty expensive. We had lunch […] at the hotel and the portions were good. Breakfast was nice, staff were friendly and polite. Spent the morning in the spa, gyms small, pool s nice and staff were polite. Lovely country house hotel with modern spa

Directions coming off the motorway were a little hazy using the sat nav - we went round the roundabout twice which was fun... maybe the hotel could have some additional signage placed at the traffic lights - one of those brown tourist signs possibly. The Driveway up to the Hotel is very impressive, but the exterior of the hotel is ready for a coat of […] paint once you get close. The room was lovely, decorative ceilings, excellent lighting in the room, very comfy bed and a beautiful large bathroom. The toilet flush was noisy but in a very funny way, it would humm about 3 notes similar to the "5 tones" heard on the film Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind - we did report it to the management and they said they would get their maintenance team onto it. Breakfast was good - there was a selection of cereals, toast, fruit and yoghurt. The cooked breakfast was very ample and cooked to order and piping hot - lovely. Our evening meal in the restaurant was nice enough but lacked vegetables. We both agreed a dish of seasonal vegetables would have enhanced the meal. For a four star hotel I would have expected a side dish of steamed veg. The hotel is full of character and in one of the rooms the ceiling is exceptional - the hotel booklet in the bedroom gave a brief history of the hotel and it's ghost and was very interesting to read. The service tray had hot chocolate and ground coffee with a cafetier to use - as well as the ususal sachets of coffee, tea etc. That was a nice touch. you have to walk outside to get to the entrance of the space which in winter is slightly inconveninet. However, the spa itself was quite nice, towells were provided when you arrived. the changing room was nicely furnished in wood and tiling - the steam room and sauna were clean but the mud room was grimey - in fact we were not sure what to do - there was a hosepipe on the floor and tiled seating but no clue as to what to do... We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay at Botleigh Grange. Spacious traditional comfortable ensuite room, good food and friendly efficient staff. We had a problem one night when we were kept awake by an unknown banging noise but we were offered a change of room with no hesitation.The swimming pool and spa facilities were excellent. Beautiful grounds, charming, large rooms, great service, and much history to appreciate. We stayed in the central turret with a king sized bed with poster and canopy. The service was perfect, friendly, and informative (we're from the U.S.). They allowed us to check in early (we napped for several hours) and they upgraded us for free (probably not peak […] season as it was in November). The breakfast was buffet perfect. The hotel was fine but boring - a bit of faded "Old England". Nothing overtly wrong, but just dull and bland.

We had a wonderful weekend, the staff were sweet the food was excellent and the room was comfortable. The grounds are quite beautiful and I would love to know more about the history of the hotel itself, as it is a wonderful building. We had a spa treatment each on the Sunday and that was lovely and relaxing too. Although we live within 15 miles of the […] hotel it was nice to be away from telephones for a couple of nights. Nice Hotel with a perfect athmosphere and good service. Bathroom and spa-area could have been cleaner...

The hotel is beautiful and the grounds were stunning, but that was the extent of it's charm. The check in and out process took forever thanks to huge queues and the shocking £20 pre authorisation (in case guests leave without settling their bar bill). The rooms were filthy and we had to clean them before beginning our stay. The bed was too soft for […] me, but then some people do like a soft bed. The bar was poorly stocked, the glasses were filthy. Mine was encrusted with a lump of something yucky and they just poured the contents of my drink into a fresh glass! Shocking. There are not any bar snacks, such as crisps or nuts,after 10 p.m. you cannot order any bar food such as chips, but you can order expensive sandwiches costing over £5! Ridiculous. The breakfast buffet was good though. The pool is beautiful, the jacuzzi doesn't work properly, but the whole spa area is gorgeous and they use lovely Espa products. I'd stay at the Macdonald Hotel instead or Southampton Park which is about half an hour drive away. Continua a leggere

Nice quiet hotel in pleasant surroundings, including a lake. Ideal for a weekend break or stop over en route for a cruise. Breakfast was very good, not a buffet for hot food, but cooked to order. Staff very helpful and friendly. Just a couple of nights break at Botley Grange. Good check in arrangements. Helpful staff. Dinning room a bit slow but we enjoyed the foo. excellent spa facilities. We spotted the brochure of Festive Events which we hope to get to.

We chose Botleigh Grange for a two night break due to its proximity to Southampton. Having narrowed it down to two choices Botleigh Grange won because of the facilities. Firstly, there is far more space than most hotels, so you get the use of a large garden, bar lounge, second lounge and garden; secondly because of the spa area which feels quite […] luxurious. We had a couple of niggles about our room but these were dealt with once they were pointed out. We only ate breakfast at the hotel but this was comparable with everywhere else we've stayed. The staff did everything they could to make our stay special including hunting out board games for us to play in the evening. Areas of the hotel are a little tired, it has an air of faded glamour, but it has far more character than a newer building and more than makes up for it in other ways. This is an absolutely beautiful hotel on lovely grounds. The rooms are comfortable with nice baths. My only complaint is that with no air conditioning our room (in July) was very warm. The window would only open to a small extent. The staff were able to secure a fan for us, which provided much needed relief. All in all still a very pleasant stay.

I would recomend this lovely situated hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are inviting and pleasantly decorated. The overall decor is looking for an uplift and the food is limited. I would still recommend

The atmoshere at the hotel was great. It was peaceful and comfortable. The staff were young but very attentive and ready to help. The setting is great. the pool was relaxing and not busy and looked onto trees. I would definitely stay again

WE had a great stay at Botley Grange the service was excellent as was the Spa area. The bar was expensive and the breakfast on the Monday was nowhere near the standard of the weekend breakfast but overall we had a great stay.

Had looked at loads of reviews on this hotel before booking, and got exactly what I was expecting. Lovely building with obvious history, dated in parts. Room was spacious and clean, only down side no air con, very hot on our stay and needed to leave windows and curtains open all night. Ett mycket trevligt och avkopplande hotell med god mat, bra service och trevlig spaavdelning. Hotellet är beläget i fantastisk miljö och fina omgivningar. Jag rekommenderar det starkt om du bara vill bo, njuta och koppla av!

This is a beautiful hotel, in old style with capital letters in style, with a wonderful garden with its pond. Quite and relaxing.
