The breakfast could had been better choices of cereal. But otherwise for the prie, the employees were very nice.

This hotel had friendly staff who made sure we were comfortable. The beds and bedding were cozy. There was a coffee maker (a must have) and plenty of coffee. My only complaint would be a loose tile on the bathroom floor. I would stay here again and recommend it to family and friends.

Hotel staff was very courteous upon check in. Room was average. Furniture needs updated as well as spread and curtains. Chair very worn. Bed was comfortable and breakfast average. Not much for choices for the breakfast-2 cereals, biscuits, yogurt.

When we first checked in they told us that we would have to take our bags to our car the next day for the maids to clean our room...what???? Then the next morning I noticed a charge of 25.00 extra on our charge card and asked why. they had told us that is standard and it will go away...What???? Also I went to pull the sheets down as we were getting […] out of bed and found a black long hair on our sheets, not ours since my husband is bald and I have blonde hair. The first night we walked into the lobby after going out to eat and there was a big beer party going on in the lobby , beer bottles everywhere. It was horrible!!!! One lady at the customer counter was great and helpful, but the manager was very gruff and not customer friendly on any of the occasions that we interacted with her.

Clean and comfortable. Location close proximity to Prairie Meadows Casino and Adventureland. Easy access off Interstate 80. Plan to stay there again.

The room smelled like fresh paint and the staff gave us a bottle of febreze to mask the smell, which it didn't. Aslo, bathroom wasn't as clean as it should have been. Hair on the toilet. Most inconvient though was the ice outside of the exit. I was on crutches and had to ask them to remove the ice, which they did three hours later. The only real complaint that I have is we had someone up above our room that sounded like kids jumping off their bed at 12:30 in the morning. I told the front desk and she was prompt in calling them and it did stop. Also, I am not for sure if it is when a toilet is flushed, but it sounds like pipes banging while a toilet is filling. My wife and I have grandchildren in the area and we always try to stay here. What we like is the location of the hotel, the condition of the rooms, the friendly staff, the cleanyness (if that is a word) of the hotel in general, and the condition of the pool. Everything was fine with the rooms, breakfast, etc. We were disappointed we could not have family gather for a late evening meal in the "breakfast room." Nice motel close to Prarie Meadows, room was cold on arrival due to air conditioning set to the max, I was able to shut the air conditioner off as it was a cool rainy night

Booked a room with two queen beds on line and they told me would be non-smoking rooms. No one in my family smokes. Told me booking online cant guarantee a non-smoking room so we ended up in a smoking room. Had to sleep with windows open....

For the money it a decent hotel close to Adventureland and I80.
Past person or people left a shirt hanging up which tells me that housekeeping never cleaned the closet shelve. There were sunflower seeds and crumbs on the floor which says that they did not vacuume. They made the bed with a fitted sheet on the bottom then a flat sheet then the blanket then a flat sheet then the comforter. Now why would there be a […] flat sheet on top of the blanket? "Nice Hotel"
My husband and I made a trip to Altoona to go to Adventureland and the Casino. The hotel was nice for the money. It wasn't anything special, but nice. I had booked a smoking room and when I got there I was in a non smoking room. I asked to be switched and I was with no problem. The room was clean and comfortable. It could use some updating. There serve […] a great breakfast in the morning. fruit,waffles,biscuits and gravy, yogurt, toast,cereal, juice and milk. I suggest eating at Jethro s BBQ down the street. We had the dinner for two which came with 1/2 slab of ribs and two meat choices. We got the pulled chicken and brisket and four sides. It was delicious! this was a horrible Hotel.the front desk person was the rudest person i have ran into in a long time! i was not notified of the SUR charge that Iowa has,it gets credited back but i would have liked to know about it ahead of time! we had booked for 2 days on the second day we went to Adventureland came back exhausted,tried to get in our rooms,and the […] key didnt work,the lady who registered us the day before screwed up on our keys! to say the least i will NEVER STAY IN A"SETTLE INN" ever again! "Very Nice Motel in Altoona"
I really enjoy this motel. When ever we are in Altoona, we try to stay at this motel. Great staff and clean rooms. The pool is also nice size and great for kids. Recommend this motel.

"Could have been better"
The location was great since we were there to go to Adventureland, but the hotel staff was not very nice and the room was nothing to write home about. However, a plus for me was there was a rocker in the room and I had my 4 mo. old baby with me, so for that I was grateful. Reserved a NON Smoking room and was given a smoking room. Everything I brought into my room smelled horrible after. Used half a bottle of frebreeze and a candle and smoke smell would not go away.

"Don't plan on getting much sleep"
Hotel is very poorly built. The floors shake as you walk across the room. We heard footsteps from the room above us all night long. The pipes squealed horribly when the shower was in use, so if anyone was still trying to sleep while another was showering...forget about it. We also had trouble regulating the heat in our room. We shut the heat completely […] off and turned it to fan only (it was too cold out to run the AC), but it was still unbearably hot. We finally had to crack the window open a bit, which helped but it was too late to get any sleep by that point. The hot tub seemed to have a mind of its own, as it would work for about 90 seconds and then shut itself off. Small 19" TV was pretty outdated - most hotels are upgrading these days. Continental breakfast left something to be desired. For the price we paid, we have stayed in much nicer hotels. On the plus side, the beds were very comfortable & the room was reasonably clean. Hotel was a pleasant surprise for the money. rooms were adequate, not luxurious but clean and well maintained. Breakfast was more than expected. Plus free wi-fi throughout. Overall a positive experience.

"Loved the comfy bed"
Very comfortable bed (I slept like a rock), nice pool. Hot tub was not the best, but it did the job of working out the kinks from a long drive. Hotel was clean and well maintained, good breakfast. My kids loved the medieval touches in the lobby. Overall, a very nice hotel.
"stinky smoking room"
I had a pet and was told it was pet friendly but upon check in I had to be moved to a smoking room and charged $15 a night. The room stunk and ended up sick.

I've stayed here twice before. The rates are quite reasonable for such a fine accommodation. Rooms are clean and the place was quiet, easy to find and accessible to places I wanted to visit. Would recommend to others and consider it first next time in area.

If you don't mind the smallest pool and television set since 1965 without the service mindset this is a very convient and cost effective stay right across from Adventureland.
ALL PLACES HAVE THEIR PROBLEMS. BUT TO HAVE SOMEONE ALREADY IN THE ROOM BEFORE US IS A SECURITY ISSUE AS WELL AS A PRIVACY ISSUE. I WOULD NOT LIKE SOMEONE TO COME INTO MY ROOM AFTER WE HAD LEFT OUR PERSONAL BELONGINGS THERE.

"Great place to stay and reasonable rates"
We were very pleased with the Settle Inn. Friendly personnel, great rates, close to entertainment and dining. Clean rooms, nice beds, would stay again.

We selected the hotel because of its proximity to Adventureland and the race track. The rooms were ok but when looking over the room for when leaving we found popcorn and crumbs next to the beds. Third time we've stayed here. Very close to racetrack and casino. Shuttle back and forth. Right price, not fancy, pretty decent.

We stayed during the Iowa Speedway Truck race weekend. It was cleaner in the rooms than I initially expected. The lobby looks worn, and dirty carpets. Best looking hotel in the area. Within walking distance of the Casino and Horse race track. Not much for eating establishments close.

The fruit was old at breakfast and NO banannas! The room was fairly comfortable. The bathroom was a little dingy but the towels where clean. Okay for families with kids but, definitely not a place I would stay as a couple for a little R and R. Terrific location for going to Adventureland and , that is exactly what my grandson and I did.
