hotel abbastanza vecchiotto ma in buono stato posizionato bene vicino ad centro e alla fermata del caibolcar, a pochi isolati china town e praticamente difronte al garge della alamo rent car di bush street! mauro da TV

Great ans conviently located hotel. I will dedinately stay there again!

Location of this hotel is great. Located near the corner of Powell and Bush streets. On Powell you can jump on cable car and ride all the way to Pier 39. Or just walk to Union Square or Financial district. Location is Very convenient! On another hand - Hotel by it self is not a great one. It is kind old and not recently renovated. Rooms are clean, linens […] clean too. But almost in the whole hotel there is a smell of old. After few days of staying you'll get use to it. Breakfasts are very simple, sweets and coffee / tea. Free internet in the lobby. Staff is helpful. If you are looking for a place to just stay overnight and the rest of time be out in the city, then it is a good place with great location. There are many restaurants near by, and for breakfast, and for lunch and diner (sushi, french cuisine, contemporary and etc). I would recommend this hotel for staying. Continua a leggere

Great location... Hotel room leaves a lot to desire

Location near nob hill, hotel smells musty, breakfast was muffins and coffee, strip club 3 doors down, not worth the money

My overall impression of the hotel is satisfactory, but there were little things I didn't like. For the complimentary breakfast they serve stale pastries and cheap coffee/tea that tasted pretty bad without any sugar and milk. The room was pretty clean and towels were changed every day. For the price, very nice. The parking is right across the street which makes it easy. This is the second time staying at the grant and will use again.

The hotel was very nice and for the price, I expected a whole lot less. I would definitely stay there again.

I was surprised to have a window that had in front of it a giant wall, about 2 feet away from my window. What a view ! Luckily I stayed 3 nights only.

Everything was great, walking distance from union square. Great neighborhood surrounding, friendly staff, great overall.

This hotel was in a great location - walking distance to many restaurants and close to Union Square. Also easy to catch cable car nearby. Hotel is old but attempts have been made to repaint over old peeling and chipped paint. Shower desperately needed a shower door rather than the existing curtain that for some reason blew towards whoever was in the […] shower, making it impossible to shower. So, you had to put the curtain outside the bathtub, causing water to drain onto the bathroom floor, practically flooding it. Only 1 staff at the front desk, so if you need anything, you have to go to the desk to get it. Will not stay there again. Continua a leggere

Great location for public transportation. Buy MUNI pass at Walgreen's. $14 - good on streetcars, trolleys, and all buses. Everything but BART. Rooms clean. No breakfast (Muffins and coffee). Will stay again.

the hotel was in a great location, easy access to cable cars, union square, lots of shopping and dining areas and theaters. thin walls can hear a lot of noise outside, of course, but not too bad

the hotel is very well located. It's close to an hospital so the night is rhythm on the ambulance horn.... The room was very clean .

If your expectations are primarily: a safe neighborhood you're not scared to walk in, a few blocks from union square, staying on a budget... then this is absolutely the hotel for you. If you're looking for high class or superior comfort, go elsewhere. This hotel is near the intersection of Bush & Powell, just 3 blocks north of Union Square. Note: Powell […] is incredibly steep! If you're not in great shape, the trek up isn't ideal. However, Powell is also a main cable car route, so you can opt for that mode of transport ($6/ride). Hotel's customer service was mediocre. Only one employee was blatently terrible but you can tell that service is just not a priority here. The room itself was small but functional. Bed was comfortable and window opened to allow fresh air. Street noise was in full swing by 4am on weekdays (the room overlooked Bush St., 5th floor), so light sleepers take note and request an interior room if sound sleep outweighs a view for you. Several convenient, reasonably priced places to eat within one block (ate at Sotano Grill twice during my stay; great happy hour and food/service was fantastic). No ice machine in the hotel so we bought a cheap styro cooler and ice bags from the corner store, no big deal. Continua a leggere

The room was okay, but old and small, it is perfect if you do not plan on spending a lot of time there. The location was great and safe. My friend and I (women) were able to walk at night to the local clubs and bars without worrying. The staff were nice and helpful. The room was clean and had all the necessities.

Grant hotel is very good, clean and close everything. You can get it in 5 minutes by walk from powell bart station. Only coffee at breackfast is so and so... I can recommend its!

Coffee machine was broke, but I was assured there would be coffee for me before I had to leave in the morning. NO COFFEE for me though ---such an easy thing to fix -- so why didn't they get a new machine or whatever right away. The little things do count. This hotel is very good! The staff is very nice and willing to help. The location is just fantastic. This is definitely the best feature of it. It is near a lot of things, and also near a lot of bus stops and the cable car, so it is easy to go anywhere. Can't beat the location--great shopping and food. The room was a bit worn down and I could hear the neighbors through the wall. The walls are definitely thin, but I'm satisfied with the experience.

The location of the hotel was walking distance to Union Square - that was one plus; but 2 doors down was a Male Nude Bar, which did not make it family friendly. The Grant Hotel is in a great location. Only a few blocks from all the Union Square shopping. While the hotel doesn't have room service or fancy doormen I was very pleased at the cleanliness of the rooms. If you're visiting San Francisco I hope you're not planning on staying in the room the whole time. For it's price category the Grant is absolutely ok. The room was of a good size if sparsely furnished, clean and quiet. The "free" continental breakfast is nothing to brag about, but gets you going. The main argument for this hotel is the location: Two blocks from Union Square, steps to the Cable Car line and reasonable parking rates for your car. This place was in the best location! Close to everything and all of the public transportation. As a female I felt very safe at all times of the day. Very clean, huge bathroom and the parking across the street for $23 was the cheapest I found with a hotel in San Francisco. If you are looking for a place to just sleep and will be out most of the day exploring, […] then for the price..this was perfect! Simple....but cheap so you get to spend your money on other things more fun. Only two negatives, pillows stunk! Nothing to them. Bring one if you can. Also, staff was nice if you needed them, but they didnt go out of their way to say "hello" or make you feel comfortable asking about San Francisco information. Older hotel but clean and in a great locastion for walking to Union Square and Chinatown. Half block to Cable Car stop. Parking expensive but you get a discount if you pay at the hotel. Would definiterly stawy again.

prior to going there, the general reviews were good except that some mentioned about noise through the paperthin walls, but I found the whole experience there very good, and good value

The location to Union Square and China Town is terrific...just a few blocks away from Bart too. They have a nice coffee machine in the front..some types of coffee cost $$ but worth it. If you are looking just to spend one night in the city, perfect place, the parking is accross the street and the Union Square, Chinatown are very close by.

Close to the major tourist spots, such as chinatown and union square, very short walk about 2-3 blocks. Fisherman's wharf/Ghiradelli about 2 miles. Basic room, basic comforts, very spare, but we asked for extra pillows, sheets, towels etc and they were very accommodating. Not bad for $$ because of location.

Grant Hotel in San Francisco: great location right in in the heart of downtown SF. My room was large, clean and comfortable. I was very please with my choice of hotel.

If you are looking for a great price in downtown SF - this is the place. It is not luxurious, but it was clean and neat. The owners are trying hard - the room had a new-looking paint job and the bathroom was clean relatively "new" looking. Very small, and obviously old, but worth a shot.

The Grant Hotel is very clean and comfortable place for your living. The position is near union square that makes convenient for shoping and visiting. The CP value is quite high. Thus I suggest the Grant Hotel can be a good candidate for your choice for your SF staying.

The rooms were shabby and not clean. The location was good but the rooms need an upgrade..

Grant hotel is in a great location. Close enough to the BART that getting to the hotel after a flight is easy. Hotel is clean and comfortable. The continental breakfast was a little lacking. Would stay there again for visiting on a budget.

Not the absolute nicest but the location is great. If you don't plan on hanging out in your hotel room a lot I would recommend this one for a cheap hotel with an A+ location. Beds were pretty comfortable and the bathroom was large.

Perfect location for tour SF. Easy access to cable. Easy walk to Market Street and museums. Chinatown Gate only two blocks away. It's not fancy but very cozy. The staff was friendly and helpful.

ADVANTAGES: 1. Location is prefect, cable car stop is 3 min to walk, 10 minute to ride it to BART (Powell station). 2. Price (in regrads to the location): good. 3. Comfort: very basic but reasonable for a 3-star hotel in the heart of San Francisco. See also below. DISADVANTAGES: 1. Room is on the first floor: cell phone is NOT ACESSIBLE AT ALL at that […] part of the hotel, you can't even send a text message from it. You'd gotta run to the hotel door in the evening if somebody calls or sends a message to your cell phone, horrible! 2. Internet is slow and is not included to the service. 3. Breakfast is very "basic", no meat, or omlet, or vegetables, only desert, cakes, etc. 4. The reception lady has difficulties to understand English you are not a native English speaker , especially if you are from Europe (she is a first generation Asian). It is especially true for the phone conversation. 5. For a couple (2 adults): they gave 3 (?)horible small flat "rubber" pillows and one blanket. I was staying with my adult son, very inconvenient. 6. One very small "body" towel, plus towels for hands. You may ask to borrow a hair dryer if you are lucky enough and nobody had done it yet in the morning before you. I will NOT stay in it next time. Continua a leggere
