Hotel was in ideal location for train station and bus terminal. Very friendly staff,lovely breakfast with loads of choice. Comfy bed and pillows with extras if needed. Although the hotel is not in the immediate area of St. Marks, etc., it is located on a small canal and only a short walk to the vaporetti. We were dropped off right at the door of the hotel by our water taxi from the airport. The hotel is lovely with a friendly and helpful staff. We were initially given a room where the windows were blocked and not […] to be opened due to construction. For a reasonable additional fee, however, we were moved to another room overlooking the canal which was delightful. The (included) breakfast was varied and enjoyable. Although a bit off the beaten path, it was a pleasant an easy walk (20-30 minutes) to the more touristy areas if you decided not to use the vaporetti. We had a lovely time in Venice, despite the 'aqua alta' floods, which the hotel dealt with calmly and efficiently! Facilities were clean and comfortable, and the staff were helpful and friendly. Be prepared for very expensive bar prices though, two drinks cost us 24 euros. Location was perfect for the carnival too.

A very comfortable, well appointed yet friendly hotel. The location is excellent - about a 3 minute walk from the Piazzale Roma airport bus stop. The hotel is nevertheless in a very quiet location. The cleanliness of the rooms was exemplarary. We would stay there again and would recommend it to others.

Our disappointment with the hotel is that we paid extra for a room with a canal view at the front, to make the most of our Venetian experience. When we got there the front of the hotel was covered in scaffolding, and opaque plastic had been applied to the outside of the windows cutting out the light. No prior notification was given with little apology […] when we arrived. They did upgrade us one grade to a larger room with reluctance but still at the front with the same problem. Ironically if we had paid for a cheaper standard room we would have been at the back of the hotel with a preferable uninterrupted view overlooking the gardens. In general the hotel looked tired and in need of refurbishment. The work on the front of the hotel was not due to start for ten days which made it even more annoying. We feel strongly that we should have been forwarned about the lack of a view and light and offered options. They did not fulfill their side of the contract. Continua a leggere

There needs to be clarity about the directions. Google actually said I could drive to the hotel- impossible without sinking. Would have been simple for the hotel to say that you had to park at Piazzali Roma and walk across the bridge.

Easy access from train station. Beautiful hotel, the rooms were decent size and bathroom great size for Europe. we got a nice view of canal. close to cozy good restaurants.

The hotel is well presented in traditional style. Five minutes walk from the bus station the hotel is easily reached from the airport on one of the local bus services or from the cruise ships or railway station. The staff were polite and helpful and the room was serviced every day. The room was a small but fine for the four nights we were there. It […] overlooked the park at the back. Greenery in Venice is quite rare but a canal view would have been nicer. Breakfast is pricey at 20 euros so we didn't try it choosing instead to eat across the canal at one of the many cafes. It's a 30 minute walk to St. Marks if you go direct (as direct as you can in Venice) or it can take several hours if you meander as we did (and as you should). You can always get a vaporetto (water bus) to or from the bus station if your legs give out. Continua a leggere

This hotel is very close to the train station even though there are 2-3 bridges to manuver. This benefit is hard to realize when looking at a map and should be pointed out for travelers. Perhaps a map with walking detail would be helpful. In addition, it is very close to the "People mover" that takes you directly to the cruise ship boarding for 1 Euro. Rooms […] are just not going to be ready before 2pm so be prepared to have some lunch or shop when you arrive. Bags will not be put in the room as it is ready which is time consuming when you do get back to the hotel, although it assures the bellman of his tip. Public areas are very pretty, especially the sitting area in the bar. Rear room (which we requested so it was quiet) has no view but is very quiet. Staff is pleasant and able to direct you to good restaruants close to the hotel. Price is a bit expensive, but it is Venice. Rooms are clean with a firm bed. It has a very cute venetian style to the rooms! is great! away from the very busy tourist areas, right across from the bus and train station without feeling like you are. Internet is not a bad price and the hotel staff was very helpful. Breakfast was a little pricy though.

The hotel is located in a convenient location to the Grand Canal. The hotel is clean, but the rooms are "old Italy" and I would have preferred a little more modern, upgraded and spacious room. We stayed there after a two week cruise and had a ton of luggage, and getting our luggage to the hotel from the cruise port, and then getting the luggage to the airport was extremely expensive! It is extraordinary to learn that when this establishment was the Sofitel Venice, it was mediocre: the culture must have been utterly transformed. We found the staff without exception to be attentive, tactful, courteous and resourceful (it was our wedding anniversary, and they were very good at obtaining and delivering flowers); the decor is charming, […] the location perfect (close to the right vaporetto routes and conveniently near busy pedestrian routes and the Grand Canal but quiet, on the edge of a pretty public garden, and with marvellous views down onto its own stretch of canal and its own local residential quarter with its cafes and roofs and windows). Our opulent bedroom, complete with the most comfortable hotel bed we have ever known, had ingenious individual LED reading lamps which I have never seen at any other such hotel. The elegant bar and library are delightful and the conservatory-garden restaurant delightful -- the menu a little limited, perhaps (typically enough for Venice) but the wine list a joy. Staff was great, hotel was clean and beautiful (albeit formal) in a nice location. Next to pretty park, short walk from train/busses. Close to restaurants and shops. Only complaints are room was small, you must get ice from the hotel bar (no ice machine on floor) and breakfast buffet is a little pricey. I stayed in a single room for 4 nights in August 2012. The hotel is in a good location - near the bus station - and was easy to find. I didn't eat at all at the hotel but the restaurant looked lovely. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes close by for breakfast, which was much cheaper than at the hotel (I only wanted a coffee and brioche). Location is perfect. Arrived by Airbus and left by train - both 5 mins away. Close to Grand Canal and cheap good quality restaurants. Gave us free bottle of bubbly for partners birthday - nice touch. Second stay here, although we did not use facilities as we did before. Recommend but it is pricey.

This was the perfect location if you are taking a cruise and want to visit Venice first. YOu do not have to take water taxi to get to hotel, can get there walking straight from public bus.Close to public water ferry to explore Venice..ask hotel clerk where to catch it. Close to people mover train which I suggest to getting to ship terminal, only $1 […] Euro each. And you can take a public bus from Airport to Piazzala Roma, comes out short walk to hotel, just one brige to cross with luggage. I researched a lot before booking and it paid off. And, this hotel was very reasonalbe in cost compared to others. They are small rooms, but that is the norm here, I've stayed in Venice before and this is a good room...with AC.,...worth everything! YOu can take the "v"public water Ferry over to St Marks and back for $14 euro round trip, or get a pass for a couple days to all stops for around $22 per person.Make sure you are on the grand canal for this ferry. it is huge, can't miss it. Don't confuse with small private water taxi's ont he smaller canals that are expensive unless you want to go that route. Continua a leggere

Very convenient location. Close walk to the train station which was great because we had all of our luggage. We walked from the hotel to all major attractions. A perfect base for a memorable trip to Venice. Almost the first hotel you run into as you head into Venice from the bus/train station, but fantastic position on canal and a lovely view from our room over the roof tops. 20 mins walk to Rialto Bridge, 30 mins to St Marks Square. Vaporetto stop a few minues away. Nice, practical layout of the hotel - reception, […] bar, restaurant all open plan. Staff really helpful and efficient. The hotel is not only top notch comfort wise but is top notch location wise: a short walk from the bus / taxi drop off point with just one bridge to tackle, a bonus in Venice. We were very pleased with the location, service, and quality of this beautiful hotel. We met many other visitors who had to struggle to schlepp or ship their luggage from the bus or train terminal to their hotels, while we had only to cross the Ponte Calatrava and one other short bridge with our rolling bags to get from Stazione Venezia di Santa Lucia […] to the Papadopoli Venezia. We could walk to many of the sights we wanted to see and we found several good cafes and restaurants close by. The location was easy to access considering we had to roll our luggage from the Piazzale Roma. We were a party of 4 couples in Venice to celebrate a 60th birthday. We were able to walk to all the spots we wanted to see and also catch a water taxi near the hotel. The bar is lovely with a friendly staff. However, the two negatives I have to mention are […] the air conditioning in our room was horrible, just would not cool down and the most dissapointing part for me was that I had made these reservations months in advance through Expedia with the specific request for 4 rooms together on the 5th floor(as I mentioned, this was a special birthday celebration). My request was clearly printed on my confirmation, but upon arrival, the staff at the desk seemed to care less that they could not accommodate us or even acknowledge that the request had been made.
