Enjoy NYC

"Best Western NYC-comfortable room, helpful staff,"
Room was clean with comfortable bed. Had a desk to work at with free internet access. Hearty free breakfast. Staff was helpful and even warmed my take out Chinese food for me for dinner. I will stay here again.
Rooms are clean and, although small, very comfortable. Location is in Hells Kitchen and only a $10.00 (with tip) taxi ride for 4 people to Broadway and Times Square.
1 challenge. I had been told that there would be internet access in the room. It was not strong enough to make a connection. 10 floors down -0 if i sat in the lobby - it worked. I asked for a cable- to be physically connected. The manager said to let them know if there was any problems- but when I returned a number of times saying the cable connection […] & the roaming connection - both failed- the staff- just said that it should. Since i was suppose to be working- it made communications strained. Breakfast was good. Catharine. on 10 day stay Continua a leggere
"Bring Ear Plugs"
Taxi Repair shop directly across the street; cabbies were shouting and chatting outside the hotel as late as 4AM. If you can sleep through that noise, this is a great place.
"Hotel Stay for the NYC Gift Show"
This was not the worst hotel stay I have had, but it was definately not the best. The employees at the Best Western were not very friendly and when asked a question were not very helpful. I was staying at this hotel as a vendor for the NYC Gift Show, so I stayed in NYC for about a week. In that time I grew very tired of the same continental breakfast […] every day without mainy choices and a very uncomfortable memory foam mattress. Also, it was not very relaxing to hear vacuums every single day of my stay at 5 minutes past 9:00 AM. It was driving me nuts that the housekeeping staff would start so early and constantly knock on my door to see if they come in. The housekeepers do a great job, but they should start at 10:00 AM with their duties and not be so annoying. Other than that my stay was fine. So if you want the same monotonous breakfast every morning, mediocre customer service, and an annoying housekeeping staff...stay at this Best Western by the Javits Center. Continua a leggere
Rooms are small but very clean, considering the rates in NYC this is worth the stay. It is within walking distance of times square and close to bus line
"Best Western Convention Center"
Was walking distance to Times Square and Central Park and theater district. Street that it was on seemed a bit seedy. But It was OK. The hotel is old but was very clean and I liked my room. Felt it was quiet and secluded.

"Best Western Convention Centre Hotel in NYC"
Location: The location is horrible. It is in the midest of 2 24-hr garages which are noisy at night. The whole neighourhood smelsl horse poo as there are kept there for horse-driven carts. The nearest subway stations are on 8th avenue on 34th and 42nd steets which are good 10-min walk. Room: very small and congested. Room clinliness: I requested fior […] changing my linens afyer 7 days of using them and were not changed. I threw a hand towel on the bathroom mfloor to be replaed and it was kept back on the towel rail. Continua a leggere

"The basics"
For the price, the place delivered what was advertiswed. I was very satisfied but my criteria was 4 walls and a bed..
"Location, neighbourhood & breakfast"
The hotel location is far from all sights. Moreover, subway or bus stops are not close enough to the hotel. The breakfast is poor and the buffet sometimes lacks essential items, as eggs, cheese, etc. The staff begins to evacuate the food from the buffet very soon, so if someone wants an additional cup of coffee at 10:00 a.m., he has to be lucky to fulfill […] his wish. "Best western convention manhattan, gd choice"
Hotel was good considering it was a lot cheaper than other options. Hotel was in a quiet street at 38th & 10th (looked a little rough around the edges but felt perfectly safe walking around as a female on my own, even at night) but still only 15mins walk from Times Square, and it did mean there was no noise for a peaceful night sleep. Most importantly […] room was clean, bathroom was spotless, check in staff were helpful and the free breakfast was a bonus. Would stay here again. Continua a leggere
"Business stay overnight"
Although the room was miniscule it was perfectly clean and adequate for a business overnight. Strong Wi-Fi even up on the 11th floor. The bed was comfortable and bathroom satisfactory. I wouldn't recommend this 1 king size bed room for more than one night though, it's very claustrophobic as the bed takes up virtually all the floor space. WARNING: Do […] not use the Edison Parking Garage immediately next door. Although they will tell you they have a discounted rate with the hotel, they don't. Instead of the hotel's deal with another parking area of a specific amount, the Edison garage will charge you considerably way more when you go to retrieve your car. It's either pay up or no car. This hotel should not be marketed as a place for families. The rooms were small, extremely musty, and very damp. The surrounding neighborhood is not condusive for families with children in the slightest. I will never stay there again, and I will make sure that everyone I know knows not to stay there as well. I have stayed in many hotels in NYC for the […] same price or less in a more convenient location and in much better condition than this hotel. The front desk clerks were not professional, there was an office behind the front desk with the door open to show only a complete diaster. It only compliments the rest of the hotel! "Best Western - inexpensive"
Price good, room very small, bed comfortable, a good walk to anything over a bridge with construction. Did not appear safe at night.
"Nice & Cosy Hotel-Close to Times Square"
Positives-Convenient Location just few blocks away from Times Square.Helpful staff.Accessibility to public transport. Negative-Older rooms,Secluded neighborhood.

"Good Sleep"
The room was actually larger than other hotels that we've stayed at in the city. The sheets and towels were clean and the beds were very comfortable. Good value for the money for a hotel in walking distance of Times Square.

"Poor hospitality"
The staff was not very hospitable or friendly. The hotel itself is located two blocks west of where most of the city action begins. However, that walk takes you through a "less than desirable" area. The rooms are tiny. Our king size bed took up about 3/4 of the room. Despite having 11 floors, there are few rooms on each floor. Also, only one elevator. […] The ice and vending machines are located in the lobby area only. On the positive side, the room was very clean. The bed was extremely comfortable. The housekeeping staff was efficient. "Small, but clean and cozy"
The hotel was very clean and the staff was pleasant. The room was on the small side, but it was more than large enough to accommodate our needs (sleeping, showering, getting ready for an event). The neighborhood wasn't the most scenic and didn't offer much to do, but it was not horrible as some of the other reviews had suggested. The continental breakfast […] offered little variety compared to other hotels, however, it was free, it included coffee, and it was enough to sustain us. Overall, the hotel was good for what we needed and we were happy with our experience. Continua a leggere
"Great value!"
I read many of the reviews for this hotel but I needed somewhere close to the Javits Convention Center. I wasn't disappointed. A 1 minute walk to the Center. 10 minute walk to all of the cool sites in NYC. If you complain about the size of the room, then your missing everything about NYC. The rooms are very clean, albeit small. But then, if you go […] to NYC to stay in your room, then just stay home. I'd reccommend this hotel. Continua a leggere
"Disappointing, at best"
I just returned from spending Labor Day weekend there. This was a last-minute trip to see the US Open with my teenage son. I saw the Best Western logo and figured it couldn’t be too bad. There is minimal and sometimes absent night security. Anyone could get into the hotel hallways with ease. And this isn’t a safe part of town at night. It is 1 – 2 blocks […] from the Port Authority bus terminal and there were lots of down-and-out and/or homeless and/or doped up people in the area. [We walked by it 2 – 3 times/ day to get to Times Square or the subway.] There is construction noise. The night we arrived, there was a 2 inch deep and 4 – 5 feet long mud pile at the front curb which unsuspecting passengers stepped into when exiting the cab. You can’t get a cab at the front door, which is mid-block, and have to walk to 10th Ave to hail one. There is one small elevator. On the second day, we finally gave up on it arriving and walked down 8 flights. We passed two separate couples who also had given up but were checking out and were dragging down their luggage! On the first night our TV didn’t work – no big deal but when I called about it I was told I must be operating it wrong. The night clerk finally left his station [!!] and came to the 8th floor and agreed it didn’t work. He told me I would have to switch rooms. It was late and we were unpacked so we just asked him to have it replaced the next day which we were assured they would. Of course, that didn’t happen. When I inquired at the front desk they acted like I was from Mars. As a guess, I commented to the clerk that they’d known about this broken TV for several weeks. He said: “Oh no, just a week or two.” On the third night the AC unit started making loud noise when it kicked on. I didn’t bother complaining. Bring quality earplugs if you stay at this place. The rooms are only big enough to hold the beds and you have to squeeze between the bed and furniture -- again no big deal but if you were elderly or impaired, you would Continua a leggere

"Not a Very Good Best Western"
I've stayed at Best Westerns before, and they were pretty decent, so I decided to give this one a try. It was also about $20 cheaper than the hotels I usually stay at, and it was just a block from the Javitz center, which is where I needed to be. I am very sorry I stayed at this hotel. First of all, the front desk was cluttered -- they had their office […] door open and it was full of junk and didn't look very nice. The elevator up to the room was the slowest ever. The hallways were really, really hot and probably not air conditioned. I got a single bed room and it was the tiniest little room I have ever stayed in, maybe 10' by 10'. The outer curtain didn't close all the way so light streamed into my room all night. My TV didn't work... kept shutting off every 10 minutes. When I called down to the desk to tell them, they told me that no one could look at it until the next day. The worst part was, I saw a cockroach in the bathroom. Also, the drain in the tub wouldn't open so I had to pull the whole thing out so that the water would drain. Across the street was a 24 hour auto repair shop so you can hear machinery throughout the night from cabs driving in and out. I know this isn't their fault but it certainly didn't add anything to my experience. I will never stay at this hotel again. Definitely not worth the money. I travel to NY about 8 or 9 times a year for business, and this is the worst experience yet. The only good part is that it was really close to the Javitz center. But it wasn't close to anything else, like restaurants or shops. Continua a leggere
"not horrible"
Nothing fancy. Didn't deal wth staff beyond check in but they were nice enough then. Room was no frills. Not sure if wi-fi was avail but they didn't hype it if it was. Looked like my 8 year old made the bed. The bed was 2 singles shoved together to make one large bed - weird. A little farther west than I'd have liked. Times square was a good 15 min […] hike. Nearby scenery was not so nice - taxi repair garage right in front of the place. Not bad if you just need a cheap place to crash. I wouldn't recommend it for a family though. Continua a leggere

"OK for business"
Went to convention at Jacob Javits Center. Hotel across the street, so this was very good. breakfast included, basic OJ, coffee, muffins, donuts, etc. Room was Ok if you are in the area for business. Not in a good area, not for tourists with families. Good price for NYC hotels.
"great room for the money"

"Dicey Neighborhood"
Just returned from 3 day trip to NYC. First off, hotel was clean and rooms were comfortable. Beds were great. Hotel is in a bad area. 24 hr mechanic, garage across the street with not the nicest element hanging out. Took cabs home at night as not comfortable walking down our dark, dirty street. A "gentlemen club" is two doors down and other building […] are all under construction. Was not happy walking even in the morning with my 3 daughters thru all this. Hotels. com promised "free parking and adjoining rooms" However when we arrived niehter existed! Will never stay here again and not so sure we will use Hotels.com either. Continua a leggere
"Needs Improvement"
Questionable neighborhood. Long walk from train station. Small room. Bed took up entire room. Continental Breakfast suppose to start at 7am. Had to leave a 6:45am - they would not give me a coffee or bagel to go even though it was ready. Single elevator out of service - had to walk up six flights of stairs.
"convenient for the price"
1st, let me say that i didn't visit NYC to sit in a hotel room, so my requirements may differ from yours. I needed a room with easy access to the city & that is just what i received. This hotel is located on 38th Ave. between 10th & 11th, about 15 minutes from Times Square & 25 minutes from Grand Central. (walking) There are taxis available right outside […] the front door, or 1/2 block in either direction. There are numerous restaurants, stores & bars within a few blocks. I found the hotel staff to be friendly and accommodating. They were able to offer a late check-out (1 pm) and will store your bags until your room is available. I stayed in room 802, which is near the train side of the building adjacent to the stairwell. This room does not share a common wall with another room, so i believe it may be one of the quieter units. There is construction going on next door, but i wasn't bothered by it, the train or the taxi maintenance shop. They are just ambient sounds of the city. The rooms are small, but the only thing i needed was a place to sleep & take a shower. I had no problems with the water pressure or temperature. The posts about not being able to open the armoire door all the way are true. There is about 2 feet of space between the foot of the bed & the armoire, with 1 foot between the bed and far wall. The bedspread was very old & looked very dirty. (1970's like) There aren't many TV channels, but again, that wasn't important. I found this hotel to be conveniently located for people who don't mind walking moderate distances. (up to 2 miles) The price was very affordable compared to other hotels in the area. I would not recommend this hotel as a romantic getaway, but for traveling alone for the purpose of sight seeing & partying, this is a great investment. Continua a leggere
