Great little hotel. Secure underground parking 100m from the main entrance @ 15 Euro for 24 hrs. Lovely rooms, service and the buffet breakfast was excellent. Ideal location. The Sunday market was 200m from the hotel and the general feel to Lille was wonderful. Hotel de la Treille is perfectly placed in the cobbled streets of the Vieux Ville, close to fabulous shops and restaurants that serve wonderful food. Everywhere is within walking distance. Hotel rooms are small but beautifully decorated and with modern facilities. Would definitely recommend to others.

Very friendly, welcoming, helpful staff. I had a single room which was fine, my only criticism is that the bathroom was rather cramped, but it was well supplied with shower gel, shampoo, etc. and the cleaning staff were very efficient. Good quality self-service buffet breakfast included the option of scrambled egg and bacon as well as a good choice […] of other options. Ideally situated for all bars, restaurants, shops etc. Didn't do breakfast as far too expensive for what you get, car parking very poor, the underground car park was closed(£14/day) so found a place up behind the Ibis Budget hotel, quite a long walk.The hotel rooms are nice but dont have air conditioning so we had to leave windows open which is noisy, […] very noisy as hotel is in middle of a square, dust carts and street cleaners start really early. Hotel rooms clean and tidy. Breakfast room under renovation so non existent. Wi fi is advertised as free but is 9 euros in your room and only free in the unusable ground floor. Staff polite but disinterested rather akin to a chain, not an independent. However, the big negative is the parking. Very few spaces in the public square limited to one hour […] so you have to return every hour to put a 2 euro ticket on the car. All in all I was rather disappointed. The hotel was in the process of being refurbished in all the public areas. However, the rooms had already been refurbished and the one we had was beautifully done. We were very central to the old town and extremely close to all the restaurants and bars. Wouls certainly recommend it

An excellent French 3 star hotel with character. Set in the older part of Lille surrounded by cobbled streets and yet just a short walk from the Eurostar Station. The first room I got, it was very smelly, it smelled to humidity very very strong, it was really disgusting. Then I got a single room, although I´had paid for a double room but at least it wasn´t smelly. Inside was very very hot and noisy I could hear every single movement from my neighbouhr.

Great little hotel that is located in a great part of the city. You can walk everywhere. Tons of restaurants and shops less than 5 minutes walking. Only complaint was no air conditioning and no wi fi. Hotel staff was supe nice and ver willing to help find a good place to eat or have a drink.

On arrival, we were kept waiting for some time while the receptionist (friendly but disorganised) um-ed and ah-ed about which room to give us as the room originally allotted to us was rather small. The first room we were given the key to contained someone else's belongings. The second smelt strongly of cigarettes. The third was the one we had originally […] been allotted! It was absolutely fine. Nice decor, comfortable bed and generously sized bathroom looking on to inner courtyard with a tuneful blackbird to wake us in the morning. The hotel is in an excellent position in the old town enabling you to walk to all the places of interest. The quality of the continental breakfast was excellent and in the evening there are a lot of restaurants and bars very close to the hotel. This was a fine hotel to stay at for the weekend. The room was clean, the people at the reception were nice. However, two complaints: First, the elevator smelled like urine. Fortunately, I was on the first floor so I just made sure to take the stairs. Lille Xmas market was good but small. Location of Hotel was excellent and most sights are within walking distance. Lille has a good selection of restaurants. Hotel Treille room was very small. Breakfast was good and staff very friendly and helpful.

Staff were all very helpful and courteous. The buffet breakfast was excellent - lots of choice, well presented, can't fault it. Had issues with noisy revellers passing the hotel at night (we had a front facing bedroom) Party-goers were still around at 3.30 in the morning! After the first night, a hasty purchase of ear plugs enabled me to get some sleep […] on the second night. But then , it was a weekend. The hotel is extremely convenient for all the sights - only a ten minute walk to the station and other tourist spots very close. Tram & metro very easy to use and plenty of buses around. The hotel is in a perfect location< 15min walk for Lille Europe, 10 mins from centre of town, and some lovely restaurants near by. The hotel is in an amazing location, right in the centre. Just make sure you ask for a room facing one of the back streets, or the inner courtyard - mine was facing the main street and it was very loud. Breakfast overpriced for what they give you, you would probably be better off grabbing some food in one of the cafes.

Absolutely disappointing! I decided to take a chance despite the reviews..... bad idea! We arrived at 12.30pm only to be told by a very rude unapolegetic mature manager that our room won't be ready till an hour later. This was our second stay at the Hotel de la Treille. It is ideally situated in Lille's Old Town and only a 15 minute walk from the Eurostar station. The rooms aren't large but they are comfortable, and we found our first floor room at the back overlooking the Cathedral to be quiet. Our bathroom was well-appointed but contained the only mirror, as there […] wasn't one in the room. Unfortunately, this time mosquitoes were a problem! There was a good choice at breakfast, including fruit juices, tea, coffee, cereals, various types of bread and pastries, cheese, ham and yogurts. One criticism - the coffee wasn't always hot. The staff were pleasant and very helpful, especially Manu. Overall, we felt we got good value for money. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to others. I chose this hotel because of reviews that the location was unbeatable and I wanted to save a little money. I wasn't the most confident in my choice because of reviews for this hotel being all over the map - it seems to be about 50/50 to me. In the end this hotel was pretty much what I expected - in a great location but not up to date. The decor is […] from the early 90s I would guess, there is no a/c and it felt a little bit like sleeping at your crazy aunts house. There was nothing actually really wrong with our room except that you did have to jiggle the flush of the toilet or it would run. But I have to say I think I got what I paid for with this place. I was looking to save a few bucks when I booked here so I took the gamble on it. Nothing was fantasic but also, nothing was terrible. The staff at the front desk where all very nice. We stayed a total of 2 nights and I don't think I'd recommend anyone stay more than 3 nights in Lille. It's a nice city but it seems to be mostly a shopaholic's dream come true. (not that there isn't other stuff to see/do there). Anyhow, overall if you're a bit of a princess don't book this place but if you're cool with NOT staying at the most modern fab place and wanna save a few bucks on your european journey. The smell coming from the drains was appalling. - We stayed 2 nights and when I got home I counted at least 45 mosquito and bed bug bites all over my body. I appreciate that the mosquito's aren't the hotel's fault, but the bud […] bugs certainly are! - There is limited parking - No parking is available through the hotel, but there is free parking on the streets outside after 6pm. On arrival, as one of our party was unwell, we asked for a third room so that noone was disturbed. The receptionist said that he would charge us the same rate as we had paid for the other two. I checked that this would be the price for each of the two nights and he confirmed this. One of our party arrived back at her room on the second day to find it […] occupied by another couple. Her things had been packed and moved to the room next door. The receptionist said that we had gone out too early so she had been unable to tell us! No explanation wasgiven. When we came to leave the price for the third room was considerably higher than the one we had been quoted. The receptionist [not the same one] claimed that the lower price was only for the first night and implied that we had not understood. She did take off the cost of breakfast but we were very unhappy with the situation. My spoken French is good and I know what we were initially told. I even asked the young man to confirm this. The implication from the second receptionist was that I had misunderstood. It was very disappointing as the location of the hotel was excellent, in the centre of the old lown and very near a street full of restaurants and bars. I would have happily gone back there but now I'm afraid I would not consider it and would certainly not recommend it to anyone. In addition my room on the fifth floor seemed to have a generator or similar in the vicinity which made sleeping quite difficult Continua a leggere

I've stayed in many 2-3 star (by government rating, not Expedia or others) hotels in France. Hotel de La Treille is very much in line with my previous experiences. Rooms are small & a bit spartan by US standards but the norm for French hotels & very much in keeping with the price.
