"Well OK I guess"
There was a wedding going on the one evening we stayed at this hotel and the kids were totally out of control. Very loud very noisey. The hotel was good, we asked to be moved to a quiet floor and they gave a better location in the hotel.

We travel to Erie on the off-season a couple of times a year and usually stay at another location near this hotel. Our usual hotel was full so they recommended the Clarion. The staff were uniformly pleasant and helpful. The indoor pool looked nice -- perhaps a bit small for they size of the hotel and number of rooms, but we prefer the beach anyway. The […] room we stayed in was clean -- with the exception of the toilet, which clearly hadn't been cleaned between guests ... most likely an oversight. The room itself was a nice size and the beds and pillows were comfortable. Rooms do not have room safes The hallways were a bit dim and the carpets could use updating, but over all, a nice place with a great location and decent amenities. Convenient &/or easy access to Presque Isle, Millcreek Mall, and downtown Erie. Staff in restaurant/bar are excellent. They make you want to come back.

My boys had a blast in their pool - the pool is a nice size and water is very warm. Couldn't keep them out of it. The hotel could use some updating and better cleaning in the corners of the rooms and bathrooms, but overall a nice place to stay.

Things we liked: 1) The price was very competitive at that time 2) It's only a few minutes from the lake. Problems encountered: 1) The hallway in a non-smoking area reeked of cigarettes. Fortunately, we only had to pass through it a few times, but we chose non-smoking for a reason. 2) The hot tub next to the pool was so hot that it was painful to […] step into. (As if someone was secretly trying to make us into stew.) I don't know if it was broken, or if there was a setting somewhere that was set too high. The timer was off, so I'm not sure what it would have been. 3) The walls seems to be thin, as I could hear the next door neighbor coughing all evening. 4) The standard breakfast buffet (that other hotels provide for free) was $4. I wasn't concerned about the price too much, but the food selection was mediocre and average quality. 5) In general, the room was sort of sub-par. Television remote was broken, bed was uncomfortable, but everything else was just average. I would like to point out that the hotel staff were friendly and courteous - I hope this does not reflect negatively on them, as there's only so much a person can do, given what they have to work with. I would suggest that, if you are just getting the room to stay in while you're at the lake all day, it would probably be fine. But, if you're traveling during the off-season and need a place to relax after doing some business or what-have-you, it may be better to go somewhere else. The room was spacious and clean. It was nice to have a refrigerator and microwave. Great location and easy access from my car.

This is a very nice hotel that was a grand hotel in it's day. it is an older property that has been well kept up. The facilities are excellent and this is a great place to take a family. "In Desperate Need of a Face Lift"
This hotel is one of the darkest, dingiest, most worn out places I've had to endure in quite a long time. The hallway to my room was reminiscent of a dark alley. The chairs were covered with stains, the pages in the hotel directory were covered with food and drink stains and the faux crystal shower knob was so filled with mildew that it was black. When trying to get close to Presque Isle, many of the hotels are old and run down. This was comfortable, much nicer than most, and very easy access to both Presque Isle and the Bay Front.

Checked in at 3 as I have always done at hotels ended up waiting over 1 hr for the room to be cleaned. I understand it was a holiday but the service desk seemed to care less about what we were supposed to do for an hr after laying on the beach and driving 2 hrs to get there. They allowed an early check-in and explained the services offered there; friendly people. Checkout was buisness as usual. No further interaction with hotel staff occured. Indoor swimming pool scheduled for closing at 10pm, but staff didnt clear guest's out that were exceeding 10pm - which was nice! This indoor pool and the evening we knew it'd provide […] was the selling point for our deciding a stay here. Very nice setting. It was winter time so hotel seasonal pools were out of the question. Spouse ran into a minor infest of ants in the hotel room centered around where the empty bagged garbage can sat before our arrival. The external door closest to room didnt have a working keycard reader so had to walk around the block each time you took your leave and returned. Since we choose to smoke and only non-smoking rooms available, this was even more of an inconvenienance. Very pleased with the nightly price in what we got offered on hotels.com -vs- what was hanging on the door inside room. Bar&Grills and Pubs are unavoidable when traveling down the surrounding roads. This was one of first things noticed by us when entering the area. We couldnt take advantage of however since we had the little ones with us. Mainstream restaurant chains also scattered close and about. "Better then expected"
This was a fishing vacation with all guys. We have stayed in this area on numerous occasions. We usually go with price as a leading factor on where to stay. This has lead to more dives then first class accomadations. This time not only did we get a great price, but a great place to stay. Rooms were clean and up to date. Room was a little seedy. Chair had a hole in upholstery. For the price of the room, thought a little upgrading would be in order. Other than that, it was a nice room. Other areas of the hotel were very nice. Great location near Presque Isle and the Colony shopping Center.

The hotel has a indoor pool, which is a plus with the unpredictable Erie weather. The hotel is very close to Presqueisle State Park & Waldameer Amusement Park. My children love it there, especially the pool.

I was on work travel with long hours. I believed from the web site i would have a small fridge. They advertise "elegant furnishings". The hotel is overtly humdrum okay, lobby, adjoining restaurant and pool were decent. However, rooms were a throwback to 1984, many items broken, mismatched. amentities were not replenished. I was tired from work and just […] could not deal with asking for correction of deficiencies. I bore with it for three nights. hotel was substandard and thus overpriced. I have stayed here on a few occasions. I felt it was a great hotel for the money. The service was outstanding and the $ 4.00 breakfast was worth it. I have read reviews of this hotel and some where fair. The pool is sweet but a little colder than I expected. Couple little things here and there. If you could stay away from the first floor. We stayed […] on the third floor and it was great. First floor had a damp smell. Our room was very clean and included a frid and microwave. We stayed 2 nights and will stay again.
