Very nice hotel convenient to main attractions. As a small hotel, the reception team acts as a concierge. Some difficulties with the reception desk, but the rooms, breakfast and location are very nice. 15 euros/day ($18.75) for slow Wifi was a little steep. Skip the WiFi and lay out your own trips and all will be fine.

Close to railway station and all the sights, good service, good standard of facilities, great choice at breakfast. Only down side was room was a bit dark as it was at the front of the hotel and the windows were small but otherwise great hotel.

I loved this hotel: stayed for four nights. It has to be one of the most quirkily attractive and friendliest of all the quality hotels I have ever stayed in. The staff were very friendly, accomodating and responded quickly and efficiently to any request that was made of them. The only downside to the service was our initial reception at the hotel regarding the facilities. This was our second stay with the first being in 2005. As last time the staff was great and we found the Monna Lisa to be a wonderful quiet sanctuary in what can be a noisy and busy vacation destination. One policy that needs to change is the pay for WiFi. On this trip we stayed in four different 4 and 5 star hotels in Italy and every one except Hotel […] Monn Lisa had free WiFi. It is 2012. Charging for Internet service is like charging for air conditioning. That said, the hotel and staff are great. Very nice hotel, location is the only drawback. It is situated on a dark street, in a residential neighborhood,not nearby any restaurants or coffee shops, or near any action so it doesn't feel inviting to go out at night. The hotel has no restaurant either.

Everything was terrific except for the internet and TV policies. There was a fee which I had to accept before coming to the hotel. The internet had problems. Finally the hotel didn't charge me, but it involved much discussion. Also there were only 4 foreign speaking TV stations - German, Japanese, BBC english and finally a soccer station. My stay at the Monna Lisa was very pleasant. The staff was helpful. I found the room to be comfortable and clean. Located a short walk from the Duomo made it easy to visit the pointes of interest in Florence. Would definitely recommend to friends.

The hotel itself is we'll furnished and well presented, with the Mona Lisa room itself (a room full of alternative images of the Mona Lisa) being worth a visit. It is also very well located, being close to all of the major attractions in Florence. The thing that made this stay so amazing was the staff though, who were very helpful and willing to chat. […] Each day for us started with one of the women who ran the hotel suggesting an itinerary and drawing the locations on a map. One word of warning: this is a dog-friendly hotel. We didn't even notice until our fourth day there when a Louie Vuitton bag at the neighboring breakfast table barked at us (there were two Chihuahuas in there) but apparently they get big dogs there as well. Hotel is in a good area, convenient to most things. We loved the hotel - sitting areas, dining room, small bar. Our room was very small and warm. We could not open the windows due to a mosquito problem and the air conditioning had been turned off. It was uncomfortable. We would recommend this hotel, but only with an upgrade in room.

Beautiful hotel. Very good staff - front desk and breakfast staff. Breakfast was nice. Room was so-so. It was a tiny single room. The bed was ok - twin per type of room. So was the room and bathroom. I had a good deal from hotels.com and got what I paid for in the room type and size. Wifi is charged per half hour or hour. The staff at the front desk was rude and condescending. I speak English and Spanish and had my cheat sheet with Italian phrases but they still are very rude to Americans. The pictures of the hotel seem much nicer than the real thing, yes, if you're very into antiques you might be impressed but I found it dark and cold. This is my second visit to the Monna Lisa in Florence. What I love about this hotel is that even without stepping out into the centre of Florence (the location is excellent), you get a real taste of Florence. The beautiful buildings have masses of history, terracotta tiled floors, and art-filled interiors, characterful rooms, and a beautiful courtyard […] garden filled with Tuscan pots and jasmine. Some may find the rooms a bit quirky and they don't have masses of drawers for clothes, but there is usually a big cupboard and the bathrooms are well equipped and attractive with good showers and baths. If anything is missing or needs doing - our beds needed to be changed from a double to a twin for instance - it was no problem. The staff are very cheerful and very helpful. You get a really generous buffet breakfast here too - again a beautiful dining room and when it is warm there are tables in the garden too. I would love to go back again Continua a leggere

Was slightly worried at a number of negative reviews about the staff but we both found them helpful and extremely friendly. Hotel is in a great location 10 minutes walk max from the Duomo. Great hotel and would recomend to friends and would certainly go back when we return to Florence.

The hotel is adorable on kitsch factor, but low on comfort. The rooms are small, which is understandable in a large city, but this is particularly small-opening luggage required use of the bed, which was also the only place to sit. Internet use has fees, Higher than might be expected. Upon checkout, I requested help with my luggage, as there are stairs and a pebbled courtyard (charming to view, hard to walk with rolling luggage), and was told the porter began at 8am. The hotel is historical and well located with respect to the city's major attractions. However, steep steps could be a bit challenging to those travelers having trouble with stairs. Breakfast included with the cost of the room was delicious and offered a lot of variety.

Spent two nights here in mid-October and were very satisfied. Room was fairly spacious, big king bed was comfortable and bathroom was clean, albeit pretty small. Location of hotel is convenient, 5 minutes to Duomo, 10 to Santa Croce and Uffizzi and close to restaurants and bars. It was a beautiful place to stay - an old castle turned monastery, turned hotel. There were monna lisa's all over the place! The breakfast was delicious, down to the smallest detail of making a foam heart in my cappacchino. The service was great, staff very pleasant and more than willing to help us or chat with us. They seemed to care alot and I felt […] like I was special! It was a very home like place. Each day they helped us map out things we wanted to see and made reservations when we needed them. Everything was wonderful. It is located very close to most things and there are many wonderful places to eat that are near, and they suggested great restaurants. I cannot say enough about the staff. They were great! The room was very clean and each day we got clean towels and sheets and a daily paper. The bathroom was furnished with all things needed and things were checked and replaced daily. I loved the breakfast! The coffee, cheese and fruit was so wonderful! Fresh juice and a bar open for night caps with a wonderful bartender who would sit and chat if you wanted to! The Monna LIsa Hotel in Florence, Italy is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in. It is oozing charm everywhere you look, with numerous public sitting rooms full of lovely art and furniture. The "Mona Lisa" room has a humerous touch, and all the decor throughout has a personal feel, mixing a primarily olde worlde decor with the occasional mid-century […] modern lamp or picture. There are several internal courtyards and garden areas to sit in and enjoy a drink from the bar. We were served green olives, peanuts and potato chips with our drinks. The breakfast room is gorgeous and the spread looks like a still life. There were "Monna Lisa" umbrellas aplenty for the downpour and we saw many of them checked at the coat check at the Uffizzi Gallery! Just steps from the hotel is the renowned Ristorante La Giostra (I now know what tiramasu is supposed to taste like!) The hotel has computers and printers in several of the common areas. The staff was friendly and polite without being familiar. The hotel is a ten minute walk from the town center but because it is on a quiet street and has gardens, you feel as if you are far from the madding crowd. Continua a leggere

One of my favorite places to stay. We will be back. Pulling up in the taxi, it's just a door in the alley with a brass name plate on the wall. Enter into a courtyard with 500 year old frescoes on the ceiling. The property is fabulous. The staff could not be nicer, or more professional. Much of the main building is original, including the staircase right […] off the front desk and the floor to ceiling doors and terracotta floors in the breakfast room which date back 700 years. We stayed in the annex which is across the courtyard from the main building and probably not quite as cool, but still very nice. The restored 54 Lambretta scooter in our lobby was pretty cool too. The Monna Lisa hotel was a good hotel with a great staff. The rooms were average, but were adequate, especially after a full day of sight seeing. The breakfast in the morning was wonderful. The front desk staff were extremely helpful and easy to communicate with.

First room offered had a tiny window like a dungeon. Second room was tiny, about 6 squared meters. Shower was the whole bathroom --- close the door and voila. It was clean, however, breakfast was very good & and staff was friendly. Location was convenient.

The Monna Lisa was everything we hoped for and more. Tucked away on a little sidestreet, the cab driver know right where it was. Lucky, because it might be hard to find.
