L'hotel e' confinante con la zona congressi (CCIB) e altri servizi comodi (centro commerciale, parchi). Inoltre e' vicino alla fermata della metro. La camera aveva alcuni difetti e piccoli danni (fermporta rotto, doccia mal progettata, telefono e luci molto distanti dal letto, ecc.), pero' era molto spaziosa e accettabile per un soggiorno di lavoro. L'hotel ha un aspetto migliore della camera e per questo sospetto che me ne abbiamo assegnata una di qualita' inferiore per via dell'ottimo prezzo avuto tramite hotels.com.

Hotel di charme, moderno, con soluzioni di comfort veralmente originali e piacevoli. Personale molto gentile, disponibile e poliglotta. Centralissimo, vicino ad una miriade di locali, fermate di metro e di autobus. Consigliatissimo.

A due passi dal centro (raggiungibile con la linea di metro L3) e dalla stazione di Sants, l'hotel è molto accogliente e pulito (fortunatamente non c'è la moquette!).Il personale è cordiale e le strutture di recente costruzione. Decisamente consigliato

È stato l'hotel più vicino a una stazione della Metro in cui abbia soggiornato. Non conosco abbastanza bene Barcellona ma la posizione dell'hotel è stata perfetta per visitare la città. Si può raggiungere a piedi la Ranbla. Personale gentile e più che discreto. Ottima la colazione e tutti i servizi dell'hotel. Camera comoda. Unico appunto, gli asciugamani […] non proprio nuovissimi, in contrasto con un bel bagno con dotazioni di cortesia molto completa e di qualità. Ci tornerei senz'altro. Continua a leggere

"ottimo alloggio"
l'hotel Universal, lo consiglerei e ci ritornerei per diversi motivi, ottima dislocazione sul territorio, lo stesso sorge proprio sopra la fermata della metrò e a due passi dalla fermata del bus, la Rambla si raggiunge comodamente anche a piedi; inoltre è un hotel 4 stelle e le merita tutte, le camere sono pulite e insonorizzate, il personale molto […] gentile e mai invadente, inoltre lo stesso parla benissimo sia in inlgese che in italiano, e sepre disposto ad aiutare i clienti, il divieto di fumo all'interno delle stanze o degli ambienti potrebbe essere un repellente per alcuni ma sicuramente un attrattiva per la maggior parte dei clienti che così non subiscono nemmeno il martirio di sentire la puzza di fumo nella stanza. dunque per me è un ottimo hotel poi il rapporto qualià prezzo è sicuramente giusto, ed equo. L'albergo si presenta molto distinto e ben curato. Le camere sono veramente confortevoli e ti viene voglia di starci e non di fuggire fuori appena puoi, anzi la sera non vedevamo l'ora di tornare per sdraiaci sul letto (comodissimo, cosa difficle) e molto grande, (sarà stato 2,10 m x2,10) anche le misure della stanza sono ben proporzionate e della […] misura vivibile. Aria condizionata che funziona, forse anche troppo una volta la ragazza che pulisce la stanza l'ha messo a 19 gradi, siamo entrati e sembrava di essere nel ghiaccio. Comunque uno dei migliori alberghi per la nostra esperienza di viaggiatori. Non abbiamo provato la cucina, nè per la colazione nè per il restante quindi non spapiamo come sia su quell'apsetto unica cosa, i due computer che ci sono nella hall sono disponibili a tutti, ma l'accesso a internet hiede la password..secondo me per chi è cliente potrebbe usufruire di internet gratuitamente almeno per un certo limite di tempo...quello sarebbe stato carino...niente di grave comunque. Un bel albergo da consigliare anche pe rla posizione, vicinissimo alle rambla, a piedi è un attimo e hai la metro porpio davanti alla porta di uscita..perfetto epr le nostre gambbe e piedi stanchi a fine giornata. The hotel was clean and neat, the staff very helpful, and the bathroom was great. We also found the price fair and reasonable. The view out of the back of the hotel was not the best- apartment back porches and dirty laundry, so keep the curtains closed.

The Universal is in a good, non-touristy location about a 15-minute walk from the Rambla and exudes "fancy." Our room, however, was the most uncomfortable we've experienced in many a year. The walls, draperies and upholstery were charcoal grey, and the only natural light came from a frosted glass window that opened onto an air shaft. "Fantastic Hotel"
Hotel was fantastic, in a great location with Metro stop instantly outside the front door making anywhere in the city easy to reach in no time. staff were great& helpful. Sampled the breakfast 1 day, no a massive selection but not scarce neither. Overall this was a fantastic stay& would recommend it.
"Great Hotel for a Pre or Post-Cruise Stay"
This is a fine modern hotel only a 5-minute cab ride from the port. Lots of restaurants and shopping nearby. A short walk to Las Ramblas. Friendly, helpful staff and a good value.
Food in room service not very hot, in fact the tea and coffee were cold. The snack was not what we imagined, however the rest of the hotel services were very good - Thank you to the most helpful staff

hotel staffs are good in behave. The position of the hotel is so good. Noise from nearby road is high, the windows are not soundproofed. Breakfast is very expensive. If you eat out, you get to eat as good breakfast with only a one third of the hotel rate. The hotel not appears to be a real four star.

I recommend the Hotel Barcelona Universal to anyone going to Barcelona. It is near everything including a short walk to the Mediterranean Sea. The staff is knowledgeable, helpful and wonderful. Breakfast each morning was delicious and the staff very courteous. The only downfall was the traffic noise. If you're sensitive to noise, this isn't the hotel […] for you. "Hotel Barcelona universal"
This hotel was located about three blocks from la Rambla where there are many stores and restaurants. Overall the location is ok and the Metro is located about 50 feet from the hotel which is very convenient for easy travel on an excellent train system. The only drawback that I experienced is that the cleaning staff is extremely loud when cleaning and […] vacuuming the hallway and adjoining rooms it sounded like construction going on in the hallway, also a phone charger and camera charger were removed from my room by the cleaning staff and the front desk really didn't offer a solution, everything else was kept in the in room safe but chargers seemed safe to leave out of the safe. "Hotel Barcelona Universal - great all round hotel"
Booked the hotel for a mid week stay and was very satisfied. Staff were really helpful and friendly. Breakfast had a great selection that was constantly topped up (recommend the mini muffins!). Location is great for the metro and the ramblas. Rooms were a generous size and clean and comnfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

"Robbed twice in Barcelona"
The hotel is a very good one. Nicely decorated and the staff are very friendly and security is good. However; my wife and I are in our 60s and we were robbed twice in Barcelona clearly being targetted as tourists. Once near the hotel when my iPhone was grabbed by a runner, and the second away from the hotel when a scooter mounted the pavement and two […] guys on it grabbed my wife's bag, knocking her to the ground. We told the hotel that hotels in the city need to put pressure on the Mayor and the politicians to have a zero-tolerance policy, but after years of this they seem incapable of action. Tourists should boycott Barcelona until something is done. If you must go there do not bring cameras, bags (of any kind), wallets, credit cards or anything but your immediate cash needs with you. If possible dress like a local and look agressive. And if you are robbed, don't bother the police, the mayor or the hotels: they couldn't care less. Continua a leggere

This hotel is placed in very convenient spot, no doubt about. Literally few meters from metro station, getting to all interesting areas of Barcelona is easy. Hotel staff is helpful, maybe not smiling all the time, but helpful and professional. Unfortunately placement of this hotel is also it's curse. If you won't get room on highest floors you will […] not have a quiet stay. Night life in Barcelona is very extensive and I had a feeling that big part of it is focusing around Universal :) You can hear people, you can hear cars, you can hear everything. Maybe it is possible to get quitter rooms, we did not ask. But if you are a party person yourself and you're not planning going to bed early I don't see a reason why not to choose this hotel. Hotel staff sooooo great nice and helpful. Hotel is just a 10 minute walk to La Rambla and a 2 minute walk to an awesome quiet paella restaurant going the other way. They upgraded our room and it was quiet clean and comfortable. One English tv station was comforting after being out all day walking around. I would stay there again for sure!!!

They hotel was very nice and clean. The staff was very friendly, professional and informative. They had all the tourist locations, the hop on hop off bus tours etc. If you want to take the train its right outside the hotel to the left, just a minute or two walk. The metro stop is cross the street and to the right of the hotel. The cabs also stop by […] frequently to the hotle as well. Very good location close to La Ramblas but not too close. Well within walking distance. Family friendly as well. Had a crib already in the room for my 6 month old son. The room was very nice and spacious. The walls are kind of thin but living in Europe everywhere you go the walls are thin. Thats just the way the buildings are constructed out here. Definitely recommend anyone to go. Location of the hotel is very good - a 5 minute walk to the bottom of Las Ramblas (seafront side) and 15 mins to Place de Catalunya. The metro stop outside the hotel is very handy for getting the metro to Barceloneta, the beach and the zoo. The hotel staff were very helpful. We didn't have any food in the hotel so I can't comment on that aspect of […] the hotel. Hotel is ok but should be rated 3 stars. Ventilation in bathroom did not work! Staff were extremely rude. Since this hotel does not provide a kettle in the room, we asked for a cup of hot water (we had our own tea bags). The answer was no, period. They wanted us to order a cup of water with room service. When we said we didn't want to pay room service […] for our own cup of tea and that we would go down to the cafe to get it, they said no no no. On checkout, they wanted to charge us for breakfast although we didn't take breakfast. They showed us a receipt with someone's signature and argued with us when we said we never had breakfast at the hotel. The were extremely rude about it too. If the hotel is cheap, then it's fine. "Hotel Barcelona Universal----Wonderful Hotel"
We travel extensively and this was my second visit to Barcelona. Wonderful, elegant hotel in a fantastic location--5 minute walk to Las Ramblas, and literally steps to Metro. I had requested a room at the rear of hotel, away from the main street, and was given a lovely room with it's own private patio. Our room and bath were both reasonably spacious […] (especially by European standards), elegantly furnished, updated and very clean. We also had no issues with noise. We found the multi-lingual staff to be friendly and extremely helpful, accommodating our requests for local restaurants--there are several very good ones within a block or two--and information regarding the many points of interest. We were even offered the loan of an umbrella one evening when it rained. We were quite pleased with the breakfast buffet--it was very extensive with both hot and cold offerings, and the hours of operation were quite convenient for us. The buffet always kept us satisfied until our late afternoon "tapas and sangria" break! All in all, a fantastic stay, we would certainly return and we recommend it highly. Continua a leggere
"The noise"
The hotel is perfect for the price,the only thing that really disterbe is the noise from the street that came out and you can not sleep very calme ...so rooms not on the street said will feet every one. So in the total the stay was excellent but... Thanks
hotel was very nice, staff were very helpful and friendly. breakfast was excellent plenty of everything up to 11 o clock which is great when on holidays, everything was very fresh and a good variety. the surrounding area does not meet the great standards of the hotel.

Couldn't have been happier with this hotel, went with a girl friend who felt the same way. Close to La Rambla and the water, well lit area, felt very safe. Yes we had an inner courtyard view of nothing but the room was amazingly quiet. Very comfortable beds, large and modern room and bath. Not a huge hotel, so even nicer and the service was wonderful […] and very quick. A subway stop right outside the front door, super easy to get to the airport! Not a great hotel to look at from the outside, but clean, modern and comfortable inside. It has a great location next to the metro and close to the main attractions. It was only a short walk to the Ramblas and the promenade. The only thing that spoilt our stay was no tea and coffee making facilities in the room.

"GREAT Location & Service"
This hotel was within walking distance to Port Vell , Navel Museum, and La Rambla. The Metro line was right out of the front door. The front desk staff were very friendly and helped with directions to many of the sites. The bed was comfy and the room had a decent varity of TV channels in English!
