Kona Coast Resort Kailua-Kona

Two couples rented a two bedroom/two bath condo. We had golf course view but just minute to walk to the beach. Nice pool & dining options. We stayed 4 nights. Ate in condo several times just because we were too tired to do anything else & saved $$... Can not say enough good about this stay. Laura in housekeeping was great. Free parking. Beautiful property though not beachfront. Spacious and stylishly appointed suite with lovely garden patio. The pool and hot tubs were open long hours and the staff was very accommodating and helpful. The kitchen was outfitted with everything one would need and having a dishwasher as well as clothes washer and dryer was handy.

Our family really enjoyed our stay. The room was spacious and the beds comfortable. I have a bad back and I did very well on the bed. Kitchen large and appreciated the washer and dryer. The service at the front desk was very helpful and friendly.

Kona Coast Resort provided a relaxing atmosphere and outstanding service. We received several phone calls from the front desk to ask whether everything was okay and if there was anything else we needed.

they upgraded me from a 1 bedroom to a 2. the room was slightly outdated with older tile, marble but in very good condition. Beds comfortable, amenities satisfactory, service excellent. The resort is pretty well set up. While I did not take advantage of resort's restaurant, happy hour, activity discounts or pools - it did offer me the convenience of proximity to the Highway 11. The wi-fi worked well and the condo was just what I needed for my trip. I would definitely consider staying here again if I struck the right deal! Cheers.

Highly recommend staying at the Kona coast. Lots of room. My unit had a nice view of the golf course. Full kitchen to save eating out all the time. Rental car is required but everything is within 10-15 min. Grocery store within walking distance.

This condo was perfect for our vacation. We had 2 couples staying in the 2 bedroom condo and it was plenty of room. We had a view of the golf course from our balcony. We didn't use any of the amenities because were gone all day.

Condo was larger and resort more extensive than we imagined. Staff was highly efficient. Resort location is great near terrific beaches.

This was not the best choice for a first night in Hawaii. Room was musty and bed was not very good, there was nothing really to do at the resort (you couldnt even really walk to the sea wall from the property even though you were only about a hundred yards away). We also had the standard problems of the cheaper end of resorts - you don't usually get […] what you are promised (found out our partial ocean view was not guaranteed, our free bag of coffee was a single serving, and free snorkeling lesson was in the hotel pool). They also chase you out early - we got in at 11 pm and they wouldn't extend a "late" checkout past 10 am - maybe this was a good thing since it got us out of this crappy place and on to an amazing adventure on the big island. The Resort is located farther from the main part of Kona than we thought. More the "local part of Kona. The resort is maintained very well and very clean. We could not get an early check in or check out due to theirbookings.

Beautiful, comfortable, relaxing. Very spacious. Nice bedding. It has everything you need. It really felt like home. Pool excess was right there. Perfect for a family. The price was very very good. Nice place for our mini vacation.

This is the second time we've stayed at this condo. It is very relaxing. We had a second story unit with a large lanai overlooking the golf course with the ocean in the background. Great value!

We found this a delightful place to stay and relax. We did not have a car so beause of distance from the town we found that it was not cost effective to get aound.. We were expecting a restaurant from which we could access quality evening meals but found that there was only a bar and snack bar which was only appropriate for breakfast and lunch. The Resort is simply perfect for families and couples who want to relax between sightseeing. It was very tempting to buy a timeshare but either way, we'll be back.

Kona Coast Resort is a very good hotel with big and confortable rooms. Kitchen has everything you may need. It is not in a walking distance to Kailua-Kona and check-out is early (at 10 AM) and could be later, but they didn't show any flexibility to provide a free late check-out.

Nice spacious suite. Both bathrooms were large. furniture was big and comfortable. We are not golfers so the greens were lost on us, but they appeared nice and not very crowded. We would definitely stay there again.

This is a time share condo set at the southern end of Kona. This is a large property with lots of units. We had an upper level unit and gave us nice views of the ocean and golf course. It was very spacious with a full kitchen with washer and dryer. 2 bathrooms with the sofa could convert to a foldout bed. Lots of tiles in the property and very tastefully […] furnished with a king bed in the bed room. Bed was a little soft but given it is a king bed not too much of a problem. Nice big flat screen tv in lounge with an additional CRT in bedroom. Also very conveniently located close to a supermarket. Was so impressed with property when i was not satisfied with my accomodation in Kauai i switched to a property run by the same company that owned by the same company. Totally recommend this resort. If you want a place you call home during a vacation, this is the one. Very peaceful and comfortable, my family spent 5 days in this condo and 4 days at king hotel, they are both very nice but this is by far my favorite. The location is couple miles awa from downtown but it is very peaceful, you get the best of both worlds. Not to mention it is nears […] couple beaches that you can swim and park free. Don't shop at Walmart or target for food, I recommend go to Safeway for your groceries or the market close at King hotel. If you want sashimi, go to Costco, yes Costco because they sell package with fresh fish and ready to eat. Did I mention you have to try Poki in Safeway? Fruits - go to farmer market in downtown, they are cheap and fun. Groceries - Safe or Costco. Restaurants - island java lava grills around the king hotels, they are a little pricey but the food is great. Continua a leggere

We stayed here for 5 nights during our honeymoon and were pleasantly suprised at what we got. Very spacious villa apartment with everything we needed. The A/C was noisy when we were in the lounge but it did its job and the bedroom was quiet. Once we had been there a few days we started to notice a few minor details like mould in the corner of the shower […] but it was something you had to actualy look for. Overall it was clean and very comfortable and excellent value for money. The on - site facilities were good, the staff very friendly and helpful. The shopping centre just across the road from the resort had everything we needed and some tasy food too. Having a hire car is the best way to explore and get around. Parking in Kailua is expensive but there are a few free parking areas if you are willing to walk for a few minutes, which is not a bad idea as it is a nice area. This is a great place to stay. Very clean and staff was very pleasant.

It was more like staying in a one bedroom apartment than in a hotel. Really nice, large and comfortable rooms, great bed, nice bathrooms, well-stuffed kitchen. My wife and i stayed at this resort for 9 days, and we loved it. It was PERFECT for the price. I was very very clean, Huge resort, freindly people, the room was not a typical room, it was an apartment. The resort also has BBQ grills outside your building if you feel like BBQing. Not a hotel, but rather a condo. Good location although no beachfront. Not far from Beach Park. Pool has nice adjacent restaurant. Towels not allowed to go to beach, together with threats if caught with sand - what is one to do? - it's Hawaii, after all. Overall a nice place with some but not all hotel amenities, and with full kitchen.

Nice place. I recommend staying here if you're over 55. I was disappointed to see most of the people staying there were 65+ years in age. If you're looking for an active 40 something crowd like I was, this isn't the place to stay. Other than that, it was clean, the staff was nice and the rooms were nice.

The resort met, or exceeeded our expectations. However, the quality of the food, was average. Will definitely stay here again on the next trip to the Big Island.

Nice and quiet location. Complex is big. Room is super spacious. We rented a 1 bedroom suite, comes with living room, TV, separate dining room, fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, king size bed, safe and anther TV in bedroom and super big wash room. Resort is a time-share resort but no one borders us at all. Hugh difference from those tiny hotel […] rooms in Waikiki. 1 block from a local shopping plaza with shops and dining facilities. Should try the L & L Hawaiian BBQ. Really friendly staff and reasonable prices with big portions. We ate there many times, my wife and I shares two orders and still have food to take with us for the next day breakfast. Everyone should rent a car in the Big Islands as there are so much to see. We are glad that we decided to stay there for 1 week allowing us to explore as much as possible. We will go back again, and will stay at the same resort and dine at the L & L Hawaiian BBQ. Kona Coast Resort was an affordable place to stay. I was impressed with the customer service and the spacious units. The down side is the "unexpected guests" - bugs that crawl from the outdoors through the quarter-inch gap under the front doors. I recommend to wash the utensils before each use (even the ones from the cupboard) because we've had out […] share of roaches, moths, centipedes. We recommend putting a towel by the gaps to prevent them from crawling. Nevertheless, this was a great resort with awesome customer service. If you are staying in Kona, this is a great location. The resort is very well maintained. We have stayed there several times over the last 10 years. It is quiet and right next to the Kona Country Club golf course and ocean. The pools are clean. The staff are friendly and helpful. The condo was large with a covered patio. We were pleasantly surprised when we walked into our 2 bedroom "condo" on the 3rd floor. The space was more than enough for 4 people, and with a pullout couch could have slept a few more. The unit was VERY clean, with a full kitchen, small dining table inside, dining table on the lanai, a sitting area with TV, and 2 full baths for the 2 bedrooms. The […] resort grounds were very quiet and clean, and the pool area was pleasant with the outdoor bar/restaurant immediately adjacent. There are several picnic/grill areas around the resort, and we even found an herb garden (near bldg 24 hot tub) that encouraged guests to "use what they need". The location of the resort was across the street from a shopping center that included a grocery, drug store, and a few restaurants and shops. This was very convenient. It also bordered the Kona Country Club golf course which had very nice views. The only downside to the location was a lack of beach access (which is typically difficult along the rocky Kona coast). The nearest beach was about a 15 minute walk down the main road (Alii Dr). The drive to "downtown" Kailua-Kona was a quick 10 minutes - about 6 miles along Alii Dr. If you plan to visit Volcanoes National Park, the drive is at least 2 hours and possibly more depending on traffic along the one lane highway. I've booked hotels online before, and just have gotten used to being a bit disappointed when I arrived. Pretty much like online dating. However I was amazed at the room and the whole resort setting, and if I return to Kona next year, I will diffinitely choose to stay at the Kona Coast Resort

Check-in staff provided us with a beautiful room and lots of good friendly advice. Lady at Splash was a pleasure to talk to, pool was wonderful, view over golf course to setting sun was heaven sent. Golf course itself was wonderful but there must have been something wrong with my rental clubs. I'll be back!

What a fantastic place to stay for a very inexpensive price! Cheaper than any 5 star hotel/resort that I have ever seen, you get your own villa/condo with beautiful view! It is about 5 miles from the tourist beach front, but well worth the distance in my opinion...and if you like to golf, your at the right spot! They have two 18 hole championship courses […] right out your back door...you can sit out on your Lanai and watch people taking hacks at their golf balls with the beautiful blue pacific ocean in the background...or you can take a few hacks yourself! When we return to Kona, this will be the only place we stay! It was the perfect first Hawaii expereince for my girlfriend, who had never been...we couldn't have planned it better! :) Continua a leggere

From other reviews, I think perhaps we were checked into a much older section of this vast property? We were in the G bldg - and boy, this was a HUGE disappointment from our previous stays at the other SHell Vacation properties (Holua - which we loved, and the Paniolo Greens Resort, which was nice) on the Big Island. Issues: damp carpet, rust stains […] on the fridge and stove, mildew and soap scum in the showers, outdated furniture. We had to call the front desk for shampoo, conditioner & lotion - they told us they only supplied these items upon request since "some guests only take them home instead of using them." Isn't that a pretty standard assumption for hotels, esp for those hotels who claim to be 3-4 star properties? We waited for nearly an hour before the supplies came - only to see the conditioner half empty (if they re-used the bottles or gave us used ones for eco-friendly reasons, that's fine - but at least give us fully filled ones), and the lotion expired (runny with a strange smell - I had to go back into the smelly shower to wash the stuff off my legs when I realized the product was past its prime). A final odd thing - the bed was set on the ground inside the bed frame instead of on the bed frame itself - this means your night stands are massively higher than you when you are lying down since the mattress and box spring is sitting on the floor itself. This reminded me of a dive motel - I checked the sheets for bedbugs and cleaniness, given the suspect cleaniness of the kitchen and bathrooms. I didn't find any - but boy, did I look.... Also be aware that Shelly Vacations will deduct and hold a portion of money from your debit card - I am still waiting for them to release almost $100 they are holding from my stay with them last week. I am fine if they need a deposit but 1) tell me; and 2) release the funds as soon as you see there is no damage to the room. After getting an awesome deal online I was so happy to experience a very lovely condo,clean,lots of space,hot tub nicel! My only comment was there was pool repaires going on below us with construction noise starting at eary am. The washing machine did not work but maintenance showed up within 30 minutes to fix. The Kona Coast Resort was conveniently located, clean and functional accomodation, large living and dining area, friendly staff, with the kitchenette an added bonus! Great place to stay when in the Kailua-Kona area!

We were pleasantly surprised to be checking into a penthouse room which was well appointed with a view of the ocean from the balcony. My biggest complaint was the bed. We felt like we were sleeping on a box spring not a mattress and it squeaked horribly everytime we turned over. The bathroom offered a spa shower feature which did not work.
