"Historical Classic Hotel"
Good location for downtown government business or for classic Birmingham historical sites. Shuttle service was excellent, staff friendly, hotel is reminiscent of grander times. On the down side, locations for food are sparse. I WILL stay there again.
"downtown Birmingham"
Hotel was "dated". Reminded me a bit of a run down hotel from he Shining. Old carpet, old linens/towels, TV, drapes, etc. In fact the bath towel was partially shredded. Carpet was dirty/spotted from previous debris. The cradle for blow dryer was hanging on the wall; but the blow dryer was missing and appears to have been for quite some time.
"Overated"
Although the hotel is historic, it was not well kept. The floor in the hotel room was extremely dirty. There was no soap in the bathroom. There was mildew on the ceiling in the bathroom. The continental breakfast consisted of pre-wrapped muffins and juice. It should not be rated any higher than 2 stars.
"Redmond Inn -- Great Location and great city views"
Amazing views from Above bar and lounge. Nice hotel for people who appreciate older buildings. Great location close to everything and convenient parking (lit parking lot and we could see our car from our room). Very elegant and classy and clean. Could definitely use newer carpet and a flat screen upgrade that would preserve charm and add a 'cleaner […] look' but other than that I was nervous about some reviews and the Perceived issues were not a concern for me. "Redmont is a tired property"
I really wanted to like this hotel. The staff was nice, the building looks historic, the location was good. But it's a tired, wore out property. No tv remote in the room (Front desk said they'd send one up but never did..I was there 2 nights). Tub didnt drain, toilet didnt flush right (I adjusted the chain in the tank myself which made it better, still […] didnt work right). No clock in the room, Sheets had a few quarter sized holes, towles had rips and were frayed. No candy vending machine and the hot breakfast was brutal. Carpets, walls pretty beat up. No garage either...street meter or pay lot w/out in/out privelege. On the positive side, water pressure was good, elevator was fast, and yes the empolyees were friendly. Yes, it was inexpensive but not overly so...I've stayed in cheaper places that werent this rough. Managment needs to invest in some basic maintenance....I cant recomend the Redmont. "Remodel"
We are from Birmingham, returned home for Easter. We decided to stay in a central location of both families. Staff out of sight, couldn't ask for better people. The front desk made sure we had towels because that Sunday was Easter house keeping was off. All in all the HISTORICAL hotel rooms need to be remodeled. The carpet is as old as I am, the drapes […] and pictures need to come down. You could take pictures from around Birmingham and place them in black frames and place them around the hotel. Anything is better than what you have.No microwave come on guys. Continua a leggere
"Nice and quiet!!"
Area is just like any other down town business district. The were a few panhandlers. Only had two ask. When I said no they said thank you. Nice view from the rooftop bar. Straight shot to UAB. We will be staying again.
"Redmont Hotel in Birmingham"
This hotel was probably something in it's heyday, but the hotel is a bit run down now. The elevators and floors outside the elevators were quite dirty. The room had a huge stain in the middle of the carpet. There were no bath towels in the room when I arrived, so I had to ask for them at the desk. On the positive side, the linens were clean, bed was […] comfortable, and it was non-smoking hotel, which was nice. Internet connection worked well and required no additional hook up. It was a convenient location. Parking is additional and you park across the street in an open pay lot. Continua a leggere
"Perfect for a short stay"
The staff at front desk in the evening (when I arrived to check in) were very friendly and helpful, the staff in the morning on the other hand, were quite rude and took a long time to help with anything. The "free continental breakfast" they offered in the morning consisted of watery coffee and a selection of muffins. My room was great, very comfortable […] and they have free wifi which is much faster than some other hotels I have stayed in. The bathroom and sink were obviously very old and had some wear and tear but the shower was still decent. If you are using the hotel only as a place to sleep (like I was) its a great place to stay. Stay away from the rooftop bar though, there are much nicer places to go to in downtown. Continua a leggere
"Not the best for solo travelers"
There is no parking for this hotel, you're "on your own" as the clerk told me. Downtown Birmingham at night is pretty desolate, so I was not very comfortable finding my own spot to park or leaving my car out in the elements. Hotel itself was fine, a quirky historic place.

"Redmont Hotel"
Historic hotel in downtown Birmingham, room was clean and well appointed, very spacious. Above Bar on the rooftop is fantastic. Great views and plenty of outdoor lounge space. Building seemed a little rundown, but overall very enjoyable stay.

"Redmont Hotel - close to the university"
Economical hotel, that is a bit jaded, but everything is still clean and working. Helpful, friendly staff. The breakfast was a bit meagre in choice. I will stay there again next time I have to go to UAB.
Great Value, Location & Staff!!!! Loved rooftop bar/lounge area!!!
Other than the fact that the upholstered chair in the room was so stained as to make me concerned about sitting in it, this was a very nice property and I had a most enjoyable stay.
"The Redmont Hotel Birmingham"
Overall the hotel is nice but dated. It is close to a restaurant that I frequent. This trip none of the hotel bars were open and my room faced a street that was used by emergency vehicles.
"Good hotel - bad area"
I picked this hotel because it was close to where I was working. From outside the hotel doesn't look great and even in the reception area it's just so-so, however the bedroom was clean and comfortable, the bathroom large and the only thing I would have liked would have been a bigger bathtub and a stronger shower, but for a few days it was fine. The […] surrounding area was a huge letdown as many of the businesses are shutdown so the whole area has a feeling of gloom. The only restaurants within a reasonable walking distance was a couple of sandwiche shops and a Chick-fillet that was closed when I wanted to use it. Let's just say that I walked to / from work during the day and it was fine, but I wouldn't like to walk anywhere after dark. However overall the hotel was good and the price was great, but unless you're working closely or are there for more than a few days I would recommend a hotel further out of the downtown area. "Not for me."
I was greeted warmly at check in. However, the rest of the time I had a question I was not treated as nice. We were invited to eat on the roof for orderbs, soup, salad, and cocktails and upon arriving was encouraged to try the diner 3 blocks down the road. Those working the food area was not as hospitable as the front desk was. The breakfast was 7.00 […] and was hot and was all it was advertised to be. The room was clean, but the refrigerator did not work. and there were tiles coming off the wall, in the bathroom which could have been a hazard. I was disapointed in the TV at the Hotel very grainy, and a old television. The Hotel lobby was nice, and lead me to believe the rooms would be the same. However clean, the furniture and fixtures was not the same quality. It was not much different than staying in a chain Hotel. I will not be in a hurry to stay there agian, I will not reccomend to friends. Continua a leggere

Located in a very isolated part of downtown. No places to eat on a weekend. Bathroom towels old and raggy. Shower tiles broken.
"Good hotel, friendly staff"
We checked in late (about 12 or so that night) and they had given away our room, but they upgraded us to a nicer room. It is in a fairly safe part of town and not too far from the airport, where we had an early flight the next morning. The staff was very friendly and willing to help. The room was nice but nothing special.
"Redmont hotel in Birmingham"
Staff was very accomidating we stayed here because we had an appointment out of state at UAB hospital and we had an emergency while we were there and the staff was great! However wasn't real happy I had to pay for parking.

"Redmont Hotel- Great Location Downtown"
We had a really great experience at the Redmont and the front desk service was super nice and VERY helpful. Also the rooftop bar is a must!
"Redmont"
The hotel itself is nice...the historic architecture is very lovely and quaint. This is, however, and older style hotel...small room, no fridge, no microwave, older carpet. The location, while very convenient to the interstate and to the BJCC venue, is not in the nicest neighborhood. Parking across the street is well lit and reasonably priced. We were […] on the 9th floor and could not hear any of the nightclub noise that other reviewers complained about. There were only 2 towels in the bathroom, which was a bit annoying when showering and washing hair. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The air conditioning worked GREAT, which is a huge plus for us since we both prefer the room cold when we're sleeping. The staff was wonderful...we were greeted promptly by a very courteous and helpful young lady, and the rest of the staff we encountered were equally friendly and helpful. Overall, the hotel was very nice for a short stay. Continua a leggere
"The Redmount at Birmingham, Alabama"
Great hotel. But they do need more vending machines. The only have one soda machine in the hotel.
"Neat Hotel inthe Heart of the City."
Spent a Sunday evening in the Redmont, so the Rooftop bar and cafe weren't open which made it a nice quiet place to stay. Great stay no complaints!
The staff were not rude, but also not overly friendly. The hotel was not filthy, but the room was not very clean as in there were hairs from previous stay in the bathroom. The phone in the room was broken with several missing buttons and in general, the carpet smelled musty. The towels were low quality and only 2 were provided. There was no on-sight […] parking, just a pay lot across the street for you to tuck money in a slot. Continua a leggere

"Redmont Hotel in Birmingham, AL"
No parking, no advertised continental breakfast, staff did not know the surrounding area for food or shopping.
We had a great stay. The only thing I found weird was when we arrived we had wash clothes and one hand towel after housekeeping we had no wash clothes and four hand towels. The air conditioning really works in the room which is a good thing on a hot day in June. Overall we had a nice stay and the staff was very friendly.

The young woman at the front desk was courteous and helped us navigate the local area. Lovely, clean rooms. My girlfriend left her phone in the room and they promptly Fed-Exed it to her home.
"It's not at all like their website"
First let's begin with check-in. The desk clerk greeted us with a terse "How ya doin'?" which was followed by about 2 minutes of silence while she banged away at her keyboard. Then she asked, "What's your last name?". Followed by more banging on her keyboard. Then she thrust a form at me for my signature that stated if I smoked in the room the hotel […] would charge me an additional $75. She then produced our keys. I had to inquire about parking as she did not offer any information. Parking is across the street in a pay lot. While I parked my other half went to the room. He called me in just a few minutes to say someone was in our room. Turns out it was the person who was at the desk when we entered the hotel. I informed the clerk our room was occupied and she said "What?" I repeated that our room was occupied. A manager overheard and took over. He apologized and upgraded us to a nicer room. The desk clerk never said anything else. I've no idea what her issue was that day but she seriously needs a customer service refresher course. The room was fine, but I'm not sure what was nicer about it. We decided to check out the hotel's roof top lounge, billed as Birmingham's hottest lounge. Not so hot. Dirty and smelled of clorox and with pieces of broken beer bottles on the outside deck. Also, they can't serve cocktails in glasses, only plastic, but beer bottles are ok. Huh? There was supposed to be a restaurant, but all we could find was the lobby bar that offered sandwiches from the kitchen. There must have been a problem with the a/c in the bar as it was pretty warm. The bar also stores red wine in a cupboard that's located over the ice machine. I had a very warm glass of merlot. Heat rises, duh. Overall the hotel has obvious signs maintenance issues that have not been attended to . The breakfast buffet included poor quality bacon, powdered eggs and varnish for coffee. Spend your money at Hampton Inn. Continua a leggere
"Redmont Hotel Birmaingham"
This hotel was not acceptable. The neighborhood, staff and hotel condition was so bad I left and found other accommodations. Not only was I concerned about the condition of the hotel I felt physical danger as well. Please remove this from your list of recommended accommodations.
"The Redmont in Birmingham-Where the party begins"
Has a great roof top bar that rocks to the wee hours and the down stairs bar serves great cheese burgers.
"Convenient for Sloss and clean!"
The Redmont was conveniently located to Sloss, it was clean, a few nice restaurants close enough to walk to, and the beds were comfortable. The only issue I had was with the door not latching on my first room. The first person I told this to passed it on to the maintenance guy, but he was also running a shuttle for the hotel. By the time he got back […] from his shuttle run I was ready to go to bed. I called the front desk and there was a different person working at this point. She didn't take the time to listen to what I was saying and then hung up on me. I went down to the desk and asked her why and she said she had too many things going on. (no excuse for being rude). After telling her my situation she handled it well. If I hadn't had a problem with the lock, I wouldn't have had any issues. I'll stay there again next time I'm in town. Continua a leggere
"Much potential, but unfortunately unremarkable."
Historic hotel that has been unable to keep up. In need of thorough room renovations. Price was attractive. Lobby is nice. Rooms are partially renovated but have very old carpet & I think that is where the latent smoke smell comes from. I saw several rooms as I was there for a family wedding. Some were better than others. The first room I got had not […] had the bathroom cleaned. They did upgrade me after this incident and the clerk was very professional. The second room I got smelled strongly of smoke, although it was a non-smoking room. I was there on a weekend and there is some nightclub nearby that blared music that I could hear clearly on the 14th floor. The only other thing to mention is that there is no parking facility on the hotel premises. I would not stay here again prior to a renovation. This could be a very attractive historic landmark if afforded some TLC. Continua a leggere
"May 2011 Stay"
The location of the The Redmont Hotel was great, because it was a 3 block walk to the event we were attending, the Secret Stages music festival... But that's all the hotel really had going for it. STAFF: The worst part about The Redmont was it's staff!! They were extremely rude and do not make you feel welcome at all (no mater what time of the day/night). […] Other reviews we read before-hand stated this as well, we were just surprised on how accurate they were. ROOFTOP BAR: The rooms were old and dated, and if you stay the weekend, get ready for loud bass, music and rowdy people, because of their highly popular roof-top bar which is open late. PARKING: Also, even though the hotel's description says they have parking, there is NOT hotel parking. Street parking and a badly lit parking lot across the street from the hotel which was only $5 a day at the time of our stay (which wasn't bad, just unexpected). Overall, you do get what you pay for, which isn't too bad if you're wanting a convenient place that's within walking distance in downtown Birmingham. Continua a leggere

When we got to our room we noticed the many stains on the carpet. We then saw a cockroach on the floor. We immediately left the room and told them that we could not stay there and left the hotel.

"My experience at the Redmont"
My husband and I did not enjoy staying at this hotel. We have stayed at the Tutwiler and Hotel Highland which we both enjoyed. This hotel provided two towels and washcloths. When asked for more since we showered that night after a long day out and planned on showering and/or washing our faces in the AM we were provided two hand towels (nothing more). […] we were told 2 sets was the standard. Based on this response, we did not call to inform the front desk of the hairs that we noted on the sink and bathtub that did not belong to us.
