It is supposed to be a five star hotel, and it is someway short. Your star ranking is far from reliable. I was in Chesterfield (4*) for a couple of nights before, and it is MUCH more luxurious. My room fan was noisy, leaving the choice of cold or noise. View was dreary internal courtyard; for four nights in such a hotel, should have been better.

I love this hotel. The staff is always wonderful and the rooms are extremely well-thought out and comfortable. I used to stay here years ago as well -- the decor has been modernized, and although I admit that I like the old style better, it is still extremely nice and the freshening has been good. So glad we did not stay at a chain hotel. It's all in the details. The staff really pays attention to your quirks and goes beyond the norm. This was our first stay at the hotel and we were very happy with our choice. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, the room was a good size and the facilities second to none. It's proximity to Green Park station made travelling around the city extremely easy. We shall certainly be returning again next time we visit London.

The Athenaeum had a tough act to follow as I had just stayed at the Chicago Four Seasons, which is divine. Welcoming reception excellent, Serena said I had been upgraded and escorted me to a terraced house in Down Street to my room. Having stayed at the Mayfair around the corner, which is 5 stars but a lot noisier, I would rate the Athenaeum very high 4 stars from my experience. Incredible location for joggers like me for Hyde Park with Mayfair/Piccadilly/Oxford Street as well as the Tube at Green Park close at hand. Gratis bottled water and snacks a very nice touch. This is my first 5 star hotel experience, but I have stayed at a few 4 stars before including one in this direct area. All I can say is this is worth every single penny-I splurged for one last night in London here on the Park View room, more than I normally spend but I wish I had decided to stay here for longer. Just sitting at the desk gazing out on Green Park watching sightseeing tour buses go by makes you feel like a celebrity for a day. The greatest for customer service ! Location was next to Green Park which is right next door to Buckingham Palace. A very good hotel in general, we stayed in the appartment bedroom building and it was convinient in every thing except that the lift (elevator) was too small and it was not enough to accomodate the baby trolley.

This will be a place I would not hesitate to stay at again, and would recommend this hotel without reservation. I prefer smaller boutique hotels to large chain hotels, and this place did not disappoint. The location cannot be beat and their commitment to service is evident. It is right across from Green Park, and therefore a short walk to Buckingham […] Palace. It is a short walk to Piccadilly Circus area, Trafalgar square, and all the great shopping on Oxford, Regent and Bond streets. It is about two to three blocks away from the Green Park Underground tube station, which is on the Piccadilly line that continues to Heathrow airport. The lobby is swank and beautifully decorated, but not overly pretentious feeling. The whiskey bar was also nice, and the drinks and service were very good. I had a service at the spa which was very good. The rooms, as expected in a large city, are on the small side, but did feel more spacious than rooms I have stayed it in other large cities. The rooms were clean, modern, and nicely decorated. There is a plasma flat screen TV mounted on the wall, free WiFi service, and nice little extras like an espresso machine in your room. With the exception of the liquor, all of the other beverages and snacks in the mini bar are complimentary. And, lastly, I need to mention that the doorman was great. From now on .. this will be my hotel whenever I return to London! I used to go for more famous brand names like Hilton, Intercontinental, Sheraton, etc, however you feel lost in those hotels. I have now found my hotel that greets you with great warmth and high personal attention to your requests .. located in a superb location opposite Green Park, within […] walking distance to Piccadilly square, Leiscter, Marble Arch, Knightsbridge, Hyde Park, Bukingham Palace. I had the Delux Room overseeing the side street (not Green Park) and I was extremely happy with it. Another hotel guest who booked one of the rooms overseeing Green Park said it was a bit noisy because of the traffic on Piccadilly street. The hotel rooms have bay windows with a glass door you can fully open and with unique comfortable chairs that allow you to enjoy a romantic time with your loved one in this bay window. The room decoration and upkeeping is to me better than many more famous brand hotels, the room is spacious, and the bed is very comfortable. You get a lot more value for your money in this hotel and the only thing not as great was that their elevators were a bit cluncky and needed improved programming. I am not promoting this hotel for any personal gain or reason other than my sincere desire to share my happy experience with my fellow travels. The Anthenaeum is in a great central location. The double room we stayed in was clean and comfortable. The few downsides were the lack of promised complimentary free newspaper and hot drink supplies. The hotel is in an excellent location, between the two big parks and next to the most interesting shopping area of London. For their pricing though I would expect a definitely better condition of the rooms, equipment and up-keeping. The service was very friendly and accommodating, especially with the extra load they had to deal with due to the Jubilee […] celebration crowds and events.They would be one reason to return to this hotel in the future. James, the weekend doorman with the big smile never let a drop of rain on us, and there was a lot of rain! The weekday doorman though was not worth remembering, except that his stained coat should visit the cleaners every now and then;-) and he may perhaps learn at some point that tips are earned with service, not just big smiles. I used to stay at the Athenaeum when travelling to London on business in the 70's and always enjoyed my time there, so selected it for our recent short vacation trip to London. It is very conveniently located on Picadilly directly across from Green Park and near the Green Park tube station. I remembered that the rooms were smallish (typical European), […] but extremely comfortable. The staff was also very gracious. This trip we were put into one of the "apartment" units in an old row house around the corner from the main hotel. While there was no question about the cleanliness of the room or the comfort of the bed, we found these rooms to be impossibly small. It wasn't possible for one of us to pass by the other at any point in the room. The bathroom was also very tiny with a funky shower door which did little to contain the water. I think the worst part, though, was the entry. There is a common door providing entry to 2 adjoining rooms. The common door unfortunately swings inward to a very narrow hall. One must go through a complex motion, including sucking in one's gut, to get past the common door to the lobby. Suitcases are really difficult - it was a 2 person operation to scoot them past the door. Considering the inconvenience, I didn't find the apartment units to be worth the price. I had limited contact with the staff this time, but did find the concierge to be kind of distant and not particularly helpful. Continua a leggere

This is one of the typical older style English hotels w/small elevators and corridors. Bit hard to get to from the tube as signage is confusing and the walk a bit long. Fairly nice but just a bit too stuffy for me. And don't bother w/breakfast here as the restaurant staff is a bit snooty and tries to hurry you. Plus breakfast is way over-priced.

We stayed at the Athenaeum for a week over Christmas 2011, with two teenaged kids. The hotel was very quiet and the staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. The complimentary snacks and drinks were very nice with two teen appetites and the adults enjoyed the in-room Nespresso expresso machine and complimentary tea. Being able to stroll to Hyde Park, Buckingham Palace, Knightsbridge and Mayfair was a giant plus for us. Also, plenty of dining and convenience options very close-by. What a great place to stay - you walk outside with busy streets and parks all around you. Only a short walk to the Underground and great restaurants only a few short blocks away. The room was great, especially the non-fog mirror in the bathroom!

This Hotel is in an excellent location with a walk of around 15 minutes to Oxford Street and just 5 minute walk from Buckingham Palace. The bedroom was lovely with luxurious bedding and very comfortable with everything you need.

I have stayed in almost 15 five star hotels in London now in my travels there, and this hotel would barely achieve a 4 star in the United States. Hotels.com promised me a king size bed, which should be no problem for a proclaimed 5 star hotel. However, we were given a double bed, and I had to pay an extra 200 dollars for a king size, which turned out […] to be two single beds pushed together. Hotel was very convenient. Had a park view room, which had adequate space and nice view. Bed was very comfortable and room had all amenities. Location is convenient to everything. エクスペディアで評価が良かったので夫と泊まりました。英語が話せないわたしたちに対し、チェックイン時のフロントの女性の対応が良くありませんでしたが、ポーターの男性が丁寧に部屋の説明をしてくれました。プランにはなかったはずのミニバーも無料で、部屋はとてもきれいで快適でした。シャワーブースがとても狭いですが水圧はとくに気になりませんでした。客室にはエスプレッソマシーンややかんもあり、バスアメニティもちゃんとしたものが揃っていました。チェックイン・アウト時以外はフロントに通ることなく外出出来、とても贅沢なひとときを過ごせました。イギリスへ行くことがあったらぜひまた利用したいと思います。

年間30日は5ツ星ホテルを利用。今回このホテルは、立地の良さと手頃な料金で初めて選択。 ドイツから訪英。到着時、シルクハットのDoor manは、タクシーのドアを開ける際、我々の苗字を呼びながら出迎え。（後で尋ねると「毎日到着予定客の名簿を確認している」との事だが、素晴らしい） 毎朝、シルクハットを含めると２ｍの彼に見送られて外出する事は、家族の楽しみとなった。 Room keepeerや、Room serviceの質も極めて高く、ホスピタリティを強く感じた。 １週間程滞在したが、チェックアウト後、外でタクシー待ちをしていた我々の所まで、Room keeperは家族の忘れ物を走って届けに来てくれた。 複数泊の滞在の場合、途中で室内整備が手抜きになる事が多いのだが、それも１回もなく、毎晩ベッドメークもあり、その際の笑顔も嬉しかった。 ロンドンの高級ホテルは数あれど、彼らの様なStuffが働いている限り、毎回滞在したいと思う。 This […] hotel's Stuff have high level hospitality,especially "Door man" and "Room keeper". 姉に勧められてこちらのホテルに滞在しましたが、確かにすばらしいホテルでした。清潔感、シーツやタオルの質まで申し分ありません。特にタオルは、使用開始日がメモしてあり、期限を過ぎたものはつかないようです。なので、タオルもふかふかでした。冷蔵のスナック、ソフトドリンクなどすべて無料なのはかなり助かります。日本と違い１００円でお茶が買いえない国なので（笑）また、ホテルのレストランも、なかなかおいしいです。ルームサービスを頼みましたが、１プレートで2人分ぐらいありそうです。朝も、一人分（２０ポンド）ルームサービスをお願いしましたが、二人で十分でした。また、英国では食事に期待している方が少ないと耳にします。レストランもホテルにしてはリーズナブルで、周りのレストラン行くよりはこちらをお勧めします。

ロケーションは最高で観光には便利だった。ただ、残念なのが案内された部屋には大きな窓があったのだが、目の前に隣接するビルがあり、窓からの景観は屋根と建物だけといった状況で、常に薄暗かった。また水回りに多少問題があった。スタッフは明るく、テキパキ対応してくれたので好感が持てた。
