This is a classic DC property. Beautifully appointed, attentive staff, comfy beds and amenities. The only drawback: my room was located on the back side of the hotel right about the trash dumpster. As a result, I heard trash bins rolling out and being dumped at 11;30 at night and the dump truck picking them up at around 6am. This did not make for a […] good night's sleep. Loved location, service and hotel experience. Only downfall was on access to valet vehicle. Occasionally needed to retrieve something fom the car but did not need to have car brought around. someone would lead you to the vehicle, but had to go down into the bowels of the hotel, through the kitchen. Overall it was very good. The location and proximity to DuPont circle and Metro are key and fantastic. The hotel itself doesn't feel 5 star. I'm sure there are 5 star rooms but you probably won't be in them. 3 star room with 5 star service. We were made to feel welcome and that our business was important to them which made up for the physical shortcomings […] of the room. Oh yeah, and parking will cost you fifty a day plus tip. For the rate, this was a lovely, perfectly clean, and convenient hotel. All of my typical pet peeves for a hotel were alleviated immediately: great water pressure, accurate climate control, and quiet hallways. They were even kind enough to let me check in 3 hours early. We had a wonderful experience at The Fairfax. It is NOT the cheapest place to stay in DC, but it was very convenient for where we needed to be. The beds are quite comfortable, and the rooms have all needed amenities...and the best shower I've had in a long time. Plus, the staff is so very helpful and friendly. THIS HOTEL NEEDS A COMPLETE REDO. THE ROOMS ARE TIRED AND THE DECOR IS AWFUL. THEIR WAS NOTHING IN THE REFRIGATOR, THERE WAS NO TURN DOWN SERVICE, THE HEAT MADE NOISE EVERY TIME IT CAME ON. Only 6 days from 12/31, the commitment to client is superb, do not Hesitate, do it, reserve it now!!! The bar is generous, the people were delicious in their treatment, my only suggestion although I have been traveling very much and I do know 5 stars hotels, is about internet access. For me should be free, today the internet is like going to an hotel […] and not having soap, shampoo or even more drastical, hygienic paper. Internet is a working tool, not an element of distinction. Rooms invite you to stay, and what a veru good moment to put your things in order. As it was said Free Willy!!! I should say Free internet !!! But nevertheless, dont think it twice, is "magnifico" well near from all access, and only a pair of blocks from Georgetown. "Luxurious hotel for family vacation in DC"
I visited DC with my family 12/27/12 thru 12/31/12 and stayed at The Fairfax at Embassy Row. We had two adjoining rooms. The hotel is very conveniently located to the Smithsonian Museum area and close to many other DC attractions. The hotel is in beautiful condition, the staff is extremely friendly and always ready to help. The beds and pillows were […] very comfortable.The room and bathroom size were appropriate for this quality of hotel. I highly recommend this hotel to individuals and families alike. The only surprise I had was that valet parking was $40 per night plus tax ($48 total per night). I later found out this is very reasonable for Washington DC.
