"price"
The hotel was cool. But it needed updating. The dresser drawers were falling if. Scuffs all over all of the furniture. And some of the wall paper was peeling off. The beds were stiff as a board!!!
the room was really cool with the mural and having a little keurig coffee machine in the room was nice too. the only complaint was parking - the hotel had a garage but it cost $25 a night plus tax to leave the car there

"Good Price"
Very nice hotel for the price
"comfortable, affordable"
Hotel is clean and comfortable. Neighborhood is quiet but within a short walk of BART and other popular SF neighborhoods. Ask for a room not too close to the restaurant/bar, though - they keep the door open to the hallway and as a result, it's a bit noisy in those room.
"convenient location and good value"
spent one night there and had dinner in nearby Pacific Heights area. Clean rooms and probably more spacious then more expensive hotels. free wifi and reasonable overnight parking ($25) and free parking during the day.

"Awesome in every way."
The anime themed hotel really stands out as fun. The place was clean, people were nice, food was good and it felt more like an apartment than a cookie-cutter hotel room.
"Nice"
Nice location, friendly stuff, clean rooms
"Modern Japan"
This hotel is a great place if you don't want to stay in a hotel downtown, but prefer a different area. Great Japanese food around the corner and its central to other areas by bus or car. It's a good place for getting to know the other (better) San Francisco, than just Fisherman's warf or Union Square. Take the bus to Mission, the Marina, Golden Gate […] Park, etc. The room had a really cool Japanese mural, great facilities in the room, friendly staff and nice bar downstair. Too bad we didn't have the time (or energy after walking all those hills) to use the gym, but it looked clean and convenient. Overall we were really satisfied with Tomo! Two great nights in Japan (or San Francisco, what perspective you use). Continua a leggere
"Hotel Tomo"
I love this hotel. The rooms are fun with great views. The bed was a little uncomfortable but not a major complaint. Will return in summer.
"FABULOUS staff, clean, modern hotel, wonderful loca"
I cannot rave enough about Hotel Tomo's friendly & helpful staff! They offered local tips, maps, prompt service... the front desk manager called just to check in with us the first night to see if we needed anything! They even sent a vase up to my room when they noticed I was carrying a bouquet with me!! GREAT location in SF Japantown surrounded by cherry […] blossoms, with numerous shops, delicious restaurants & sights all around. Our rooms were clean, AND the entire hotel runs on eco-friendly standards! From organic toiletries to apppliances/lights that shut off when no one is in the room... they also have free wifi IN your room (can be a rarity- even nowadays!) I highly recommend this modern, eco-friendly, affordable hotel to ANYONE staying in SF. I loved them and I will definitely be back (soon!) Domo arigatou gozaimasu, Hotel Tomo!! Continua a leggere

"Very Clean Hotel, but bed is uncomfortable."
Everything was very clean, and the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Very close to Pacific Heights with a lot of great places to eat within walking distance (3 or 4 blocks north of hotel with American Cuisine). The only complaint was that the bed was very hard and uncomfortable.

"Hotel Tomo in SF Japan Town"
Great hotel, kids friendly and excellent location close to food and attractions. This is our first time staying at the hotel but it will not be our last. Definitely will recommend it to families.

"inexpensive option in SF"
We stayed here for a night and had an interior courtyard lower floor room. The room was comfortable, and pretty clean, although the carpet was worn with some stains. The bed was comfortable and the shower was really strong. What was disappointing was the noise. The walls are really, really thin. I used a white-noise app on my phone which helped, but […] the worst noise came from the heater. Every time it switched on, it mad a loud BANG that kept waking us up. Eventually we turned off the heater, but then woke up because we were cold. Very frustrating. In months when heat isn't required, it wouldn't be an issue. Continua a leggere

"Perfect place"
I stayed two nights and really enjoyed it. The neighborhood is super quiet and safe. The hotels is cute, super clean and no-nonsense place. They have all the stuff you need and very well run. Clean without smelling like bleach everywhere. The colors are pleasant and the room was sunny. I would recommend this place to anybody!

"cheerful and fun in Japan town"
Walking into the lobby of Hotel Tomo, I knew I had made a good choice. Cheerful, fun and whimsical, the hotel was exactly what I bargained for. Not a luxury spot, but very decent, clean, comfortable rooms and a great location. I value for money was bang on and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The neighbourhood is safe and interesting with lots of great […] Japanese restaurants and quirky shops. Continua a leggere

"Fun place!"
No complaints about the hotel...my room was on the ground floor near the sidewalk but I did not find this noisy at all. Fitness center was orderly (consisted of eliptical, treadmill, stationary bike and free weights), parking in garage was tight but I got a spot.
"3rd Stay at the Tomo - Speaks for Itself"
No longer an unknown find. My only hesitation in writing another review is the more the Tomo becomes "discovered", the higher the prices get.
"Clean, quiet, comfortable"
Don't expect luxury. This is a standard motel that has been cleaned up and painted. It was a nice stay. Comfortable. Quiet. Easy street parking.
"Doors slam"
Throughout the night...doors slamming shut on my floor. Inspite of a very comfortable bed, the noise was very disruptive. Could hear the TV in the next room.

"Great Stay at Tomo"
Away from the downtown craziness, this hotel is in a nice neighborhood. The location was still close enough to get to nice restaurants, shopping, and visiting place around the city. The staff is friendly and helpful and most importantly, the beds are comfortable. Not the typical hotel, but a really good place to stay if you are visiting for several […] days. Continua a leggere

"BEST HOTEL IN SF!"
Greatest deal and such a charming place. Love the rooms. All of the guests staying within our party were impressed.
"Best Place to Stay with a Group"
I recently stayed at the hotel Tomo with a group of 7 other guests. Tomo was kind enough to give us two double-bed connecting rooms. The rooms were super clean, very chic and spacious. The rooms look just like the photos on Hotels.com. The hotel staff was very helpful and personable. The location was so convenient and safe. Everyone was so impressed […] with Tomo! Definitely will return. 5 stars!!! Continua a leggere

"Best Hotel so far in San Fran!"
We have stayed at a few hotels in san francisco and so far this is the best. Friendly staff, cool and comfortable room, surrounding neighborhood if WONDERFUL!!! Parking was a bit steep but yet again almost every place is so not a big deal. When we go back we are booking there again.
"Affordable and comfortable!"
- Location is great if you plan to use public transportation. There is a bus stop right in front - Room was clean with basic necessities - Service was good - There are good massage/spa places close by. - Room rates are very affordable if you book early We would definitely go back and stay there if we are in SFO.
"nice"
Hotel Tomo is great! Quiet, interesting neighborhood with cool Japanese shops a block away. Easy to get in any direction walking or by bus. Takes about 15 min to walk to Financial District; we also walked to North Beach, about 45 minutes but through a park and lots of interesting sites along the way. Friendly staff, all good!
"hotel tomo one of a kind"
I had an amazing stay at the hotel tomo. It was in a very convenient location. close to all points of interest. Easy access to catch a cab. Rooms were great for the price. I will definitely stay here again.
"Adequate"
We stayed at Hotel Tomo after a concert at the Fillmore. The hotel is conveniently located to that and the great restaurants and shops on Fillmore. Check in was smooth, and the rooms are fine. But just fine. Beds are a bit hard, no little extras, and while the high ceiling was great...our semi-subterranean room wasn't great re light. And in fact the […] lighting in general is pretty low, which would have made me crazy if we had been in it for more than our brief stay. We would stay there again as a place to sleep after a concert, but it won't ever be a "destination" hotel for us. Continua a leggere
"Nice hotel in Japantown"
Hotel was clean and new. Decor was a bit odd, with 1 wall completely covered with a strange anime scene, but room was great otherwise. Front desk was friendly and efficient. Free wifi. Street parking was okay. Neighborhood is great--close to Fillmore district and away from most tourists. My only complaint was with the coffee maker. Room had a Keurig, […] pod-type coffee maker and I was looking forward to a nice cup of coffee in the morning. When I tried to brew a cup, I found that the coffee maker was not plugged in. In fact, the cord did not reach the nearest outlet, so I tried picking up the coffee maker to move it closer. The cord was fixed to the back of the desk, making it impossible to move it. How stupid! Why do they put a nice coffee maker in the room, but make it impossible to use it?! That was my only complaint, but it was aggravating first thing in the morning. Continua a leggere
