L'hotel è centralissimo, a due passi dal centro finanziario di Downtown LA. Stile "Old England", ha una bella hall, camere carine ed abbastanza spaziose (ci hanno assegnato una 2 queen beds) ed il prezzo è contenuto. Unico neo i bagni: troppo piccoli e con sanitari obsoleti. Il problema è il seguente: al calar del sole la 7th strada diventa uno dei […] luoghi più pericolosi e meno raccomandabili della città, in giro non c'è nessuno eccetto spacciatori e malviventi che ti fanno il giro attorno con l'auto per prenderti le misure, non c'è uno straccio di locale aperto nel giro di chilometri. Abbiamo dovuto immediatamente ritornare in hotel, prendere l'auto ed andare verso Hollywood. Comunque ci siamo persi e, nel raggio di 60/70 chilometri in piena Los Angeles, non abbiamo neppure trovato un ristorante aperto e così abbiamo anche saltato la cena. A coloro che intendono andare a Los Angeles consiglio di soggiornare ad Hollywood (non costa assolutamente più che da altre parti) o a Santa Monica e di evitare Downtown la quale si può visitare di giorno. Dimenticavo, anche in piena estate sappiate che a LA fa fresco, soprattutto di notte: portatevi una felpa. Continua a leggere

prezzo buonissimo, posizione strategica a 10 minuti a piedi dalla metro blu 7th street e al centro di downtown, personale gentile e caffè in camera tutti i giorni..unici problemi: senza frigorifero e moquette polverosa nonostante le pulizie giornaliere e l'impeccabile cambio asciugamani..non lo consiglierei a chi soffre di asma

I really enjoyed my stay at the Mayfair. The staff was friendly, I had no real mechanical problems (the Internet was a bit hit-and-miss, but I called the front desk and I think they just restarted the router and everything was fine), and my bed was comfy. I opted for the smallest room they had because I really just needed a place to sleep and shower, […] so it was perfect for me. House keeping came by at 9 in the morning, though. Luckily I was already awake, but I would have been really annoyed if they had woken me up. The price of the room was ridiculously lower than other neighborhood hotels - probably because of the neighborhood - but I was on the 12th floor and none of the on-the-street shenanigans affected me. There's several buses that stop directly across the street, so getting to downtown and then to other regional destinations was incredibly easy, and the staff was very helpful in giving transit information like bus schedules and fares. I would highly recommend the Mayfair for someone who just needs a place to sleep. The hotel has a beautiful lobby and a facade reminiscent of historic downtown, but doesn't offer anything fancy like a spa or pool. Oh, and there's a parking structure! We stayed here for a Lakers Playoff game. We took a taxi to Staples Center and it was a flat rate of $10. After game we hung out at LA Live, then walked back to hotel. It was like a 15 min walk, not bad at all. 7/11 is right next door which was very nice and convenient. However, the room was another story. We paid $12 for parking, the beds were not […] very comfortable, the bathroom floor was old and a bit gross, and when we checked out, they made us wait for someone to check if everything was ok in the room!...what was that about?! I have never written a review for a hotel until now. Worst experience ever on hotels.com. I decided to stay here because the hotel was so close to the Staples center. Which it was, however, the room I stayed in was TERRIBLE!!! THE PHOTOS OF THE ROOM LOOK NOTHING LIKE WHAT MY ROOM REALLY WAS. I felt like I stayed in the maids room. The room was very […] small and I was suppose to have a queen but had a twin. The bed looked nothing like the photos, I was scared to even sleep in it. The shower was so small that (no offense taken) I felt like it was made for a dwarf and I am only 5'3!! One person could barely fit. The toilet looked like the ones from a gas station where you have to use your foot to flush it. Imagine me in the morning!! And the sink was broken, splattered water all over me and the drain was broken I had to wait several minutes for the water to go down. I stayed in room 901 just in case you do not listen to me and stay here, do not get that room. On top of that parking is $12 a night. Take it from me, pay a little extra and find a better hotel. Stay here only if you have to! The elevators are scary and the bathrooms are tiny. Bathrooms are dirty, but sheets and towels are generally clean!

For $60, it was a decent hotel. Neighborhood looks sketchy but I felt safe walking around the daytime. Rooms are tiny. Carpet is pretty gross but the sheets on the bed were clean. Perfect for just the hubby and me but would never stay here with the little ones.

I was happy to see that the Mayfair Hotel was not in a scary part of town. The staff were prompt and helpful. You will be paying for a place to crash, not a luxurious retreat. The nice part is they do have a gym if you're trying to get in some exercise while on the road.

It's not as bad as people make it out to be. The rooms are small, the AC didn't work, and it is ghetto outside. Other than that, the hotel is nice, clean, and classy for its price. The front desk was very helpful in answering questions and trying to find us transportation. And the Internet was free.

Historic is correct when describing this hotel. The rooms are small, the bathrooms are small, and the beds and carpet feel as if they have been around for many, many years. You are conveniently placed in downtown LA; however, there are lots of "people" roaming around outside of the hotel at all hours. If I stay in LA again, I will choose a different […] hotel. I've been in 2-4 hotels a week since 2001, and this is by far the worst I have ever stayed in. Period. I really wish I could upload photos, lol. I'm not gonna waste my words on this establishment. I will say that while attempting to sit on the toilet, my right leg could not fit between the toilet and the wall. While this is going on, my left side was […] resting against the sink. To recap, you'd have to sit sideways on the toilet while leaning against a nasty sink. The shower was too small. The bathroom was so small that I had to stand on the bathtub to open and close the door, lol. The front desk tried to tell me that all of the rooms were like that. I think not. This room is not fit to be sold to anyone for any reason. Stay away from this hotel. If you do stay here, at least avoid room 925. But hey, I was told that every room was like this. The hotels was very old and the room we stayed in DID NOT look like photos online and the continental breakfast is not free ($10). The staff was rude, the neighborhood was not the best and the room was so small that two people could not pass each other in the room without running into each other! The bathroom was tiny, old and you had to turn faucet […] to a certain spot, or it would make a loud noise. There was an iron (burn) mark on the carpet near the bathroom and a dresser drawer was broken and lopsided. We checked out a day early and drove home, even though we had paid for three nights online. Though it is an old hotel, management can provide better water pressure to the rooms, fix the lights for the elevators, provide better bedding, change the carpets in the rooms, provide shuttle service to L.A. The Mayfair is conveniently located near the LA Convention Center and the Staples Center Arena. It's just a few minutes' walk. The hotel has not apparently been recently refurbished. The lobby is lofty but nondescript. A PA features music from a cheesy FM radio station. My room was spartan. The only desk was completely dominated by the large CRT […] television, so there was no place to work. The restaurant is only open for breakfast. Historic is in the name which lets you know it is an older hotel. The carpet could use a good cleaning, there is a bit of a musty smell as well as some stains. Shower was small and cramped. The air conditioner was not working but it was January so I just opened the window. I booked the Mayfair to see Downtown and be near to Union station the following morning. The Metro is within 10 mins walking distance (underneath HSBC) and is then around 10 mins to the station from there. The location is towards a rough looking way out of Downtown, but I'd happily walk towards Downtown from the Lobby in reasonable evening hours. The […] lobby is huge and there is a doorman, so any issues in terms of security were fine with me. The area isn't a drug den, but it's were the shops start to get grotty and there's a growing amount of begging people as the day turns into night. Many of you might want to grab a taxi which is of course the safest option, but if you're looking for bargain hotels I imagine you are realistic about how nice areas will be that you are staying in. The room was clean and the the bed felt good to sleep in. The room was worn in certain ways which I'm always ok with, but things were functional and the Wi-Fi worked well for video streaming etc. Asides from my noisy neighbours in the early evening, I slept very well and got a great start to my next days travel. If you get a good price go for it but I wouldn't expect to pay much more than £50 for the standard of the room I stayed in. Continua a leggere

I wasn't sure quite what to expect since the star rating was low but it was one of the cheapest hotels I could find within walking distance of the staples center. The room was smaller than my bedroom at home. The bathroom was so small you would have to hug the wall in order to close the door. The room wasn't very clean and the bed was hard as a rock. […] California winters can still be very warm so we wanted to turn the a/c on but it wouldn't work. We called the front desk and they told us that the a/c is shut off during the winter and there was nothing they could do. The thing that really got me though is the fact that I had to pay $25 to park in the hotels parking structure even though I was a guest. You would figure guests would get free parking but nope. Was okay once got there. Its in the middle of a neighborhood with not much within walking distance. Staff seemed confused sometimes and rooms were small and horrible. The bathroom was small and some of the lights were out. WORST part was that not only you have to pay for parking, I was told the A/C for the buidling was only turned on during the summer. […] So there is know heating and cooling for the rooms! I had to open my windows for air which allowed the noises from outside to come in. The police and fire were always going back and forth. Came for business, I was expecting this hotel to be a 1.5 star and it is a 1.5. The only reason I booked this hotel is because of the price and location. The air conditioning system does not work unfortunately so expect the room to be a sauna if you like a cool room such as me. I was a bit disappointed that "you have to pay to park" was not disclosed […] adequately. The location is convenient to downtown. I requested a late check out and as expected the message did not get placed into the system or get passed during the shift change over and my phone was ringing before 11 AM asking me when I would check out. Booked it because of price and location to downtown LA. The bathroom size is made for Europeans (no offense) definitely not Americans as the size is petite small.
