Mercure Oxford Eastgate Hotel Oxford

We got a special offer for this hotel, which was conveniently located next door from the Oxford Examination Rooms in the city center. It was very easy to arrive, and reception was friendly. The staff was very nice and helpful, really one of the best things of the hotel. Rooms are distributed in two wings, one with a lift, the other one without. Ours […] was in the lift-less wing, on the 3rd (top) floor. We were offered help to get our things into the room, which we kindly rejected as we had light luggage only. The room was nice and warm, but not very big, and it seemed a little crowded with our two small trolleys. The worst thing of it all was the toilet: the flush did not work as well as it would be expected, and it required some practice to learn the trick. Other people staying at the same hotel had the same problem, so this was not an isolated case, unfortunately. The room had some niceties such as trouser press and an iron with board, which worked perfectly. The breakfast bouffet, included in our reservation, was excellent. Continua a leggere

I really enjoyed my stay. The hotel is clean, well located. The rooms are reasonably quiet; the Tv works weel, and you can even plug in your iPod! The food is good. The staff are very friendly and service oriented. Overall, I found it to be the best price-value relationship in the town.The single rooms are a bit small, though

Room was great but too warm overnight! Everything easy walking distance but High St was pretty noisy all night, e had window open all night in Feb as couldn't turn down heating.

Mini bar packages which need to be ordered from the room service? toilet which doesn't flush properly? Bar which is closed at 21:30? Paer-thin walls where you can hear everything from next door? Great location, short walk into town. My room was tiny, but the bathroom was big. Went into the bar for a cocktail and left after 10 minutes for a pub. Could see staff in a backroom doing things other than serving customers. The hotel is clean but average.

The hotel was very nice and clean in a convenient city centre location. Close to all of the tourist attractions and write next to Oxford University Examination School. I had beautiful views of Oxford University Examination School from my 3rd floor room. The room was small but contained everything needed. Nice hotel in listed building close to city centre and a short 15 min walk from the train station. Nice room with spacious bathroom. I would go back again.

We spent a few nights here over Christmas and we couldn't have been happier. Great location in the middle of town next to a gorgeous college. Modern and very clean room with a brilliant bar area near the foyer which we took good advantage of. If we stay in Oxford again we will definitely be staying here again.

Hotel OK, need to have staff training, not real helpful. Close to centre of Oxford that was good.

Had a wonderful two night stay. Room was very cozy with great view of Magdaline Tower. Bed was very comfortable. Staff, friendly, professional and accommodating. Excellent location. What more can I say?

Good hotel in a very central location. Very convenient with car parking in the back yard of the hotel (a bit expensive though), and we also had a nice dinner and breakfast at the hotel's restaurant the night we stayed threre.

Sadly this was a disappointment. Room was not very big and definately not very clean. The beds were straightened rather than made, glasses left unwashed, hair and dirt around shower screen-I could go on but would be out of room. That said once complaint was made to reception our room was re-cleaned while we went out for evening but too late to change […] our minds. First impression is the most important! Continua a leggere

Our stay was a joy; the staff were most helpful with tourist information and other matters and were a pleasure to deal with. The restaurant served delicious meals. Minor concerns: The mattress was not that comfortable, it seemed to have a dip in the middle. The steps leading to the rooms at the end of the corridor were an inconvenience with heavy suitcases. […] The floor in the room squeaked in spots which may have been a nuisance to those in the room below. Rather an upsetting experience. Hotel staff were seemingly unhappy to be serving us. The room was extraordinarily small and the closets couldn't have fit clothes for a night let alone a longer stay. One would do better to arrive with a well-appointed tent than stay in this offering.

Staff were professional and helpful; we chose the hotel for the parking and the fact it is in the centre of the city.

Really enjoyed my stay here. Lovely room if a little bit on the small side. Great location in the centre of Oxford (a little tricky to find due to all the one way streets). Fantastic breakfast. Overall would thoroughly recommend.

Hotel itself highly professional though somewhat less characterful than it used to be years ago. The great thing is the location which is central, or at least very convenient for visits to colleges, museums etc if you know your way about a bit, but it is just across the street from Magdalen with its wonderful gardens (try Addison's Walk), Christchurch […] Meadow, and the Oxford Botanical Garden. So for a family with small children there's plenty of room to run around after all the art and architecture. Continua a leggere

Nice hotel in old building. Be sure to specify bed type as double meant one full bed in a tiny room. My husband and son each hit their heads the first time down the hall at an unmarked low ceiling spot. Good breakfast service in dining room. Tea (from the restaurant) taken in the lounge was a nice way to take a break in the afternoon.

It took 45minutes to get my car out of the parking lot since they misplaced the keys of the car they parked behind mine, so watch out!! Service is considerate but slow. The single room is nice and comfortable but smaller than in a College dorm.

Certainly did the job. Rooms a little on the small side but otherwise a good base for one night. Perhaps not the sort of place one would 'holiday', but for the purposes of a flying visit, 8/10 with fair value.

very centrally located in oxford and in a quaint, historic building. I didn't see the need for a quaint, historic mattress however. Breakfast extremely dissatisfactory, very expensive for unacceptably low quality food.

The Hotel was easy to find and couldn't have been closer to the centre of Oxford. The room was clean and comfortable and loved the fact the fridge was a fridge and not an expensive mini bar! Staff were helpful and polite and overall we had a lovely stay. The only down side was having to pay extra for parking, travelling from Leeds and having to go via […] Lincolnshire to drop off our daughter with her grandparents we had no other option but to drive, so thought it a bit steep to then have to pay to park onsite. A gem of a hotel, just off the High Street. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the central location is complimented by the pleasantness of the Staff. Well worth a stay.

Nothing stellar in this hotel but does the job well. Everything is clean and decent value for money, not classy. Fairly central, breakfast is very good too.

This hotel was excellent value for money. It was very centrally located, just off the High Street and very close to Merton and Christ Colleges and not far from Quees, Magdalen etc. I didn't eat in the restaurant (The High Table) but it had excellent reviews in some magazines I read and there are several excellent restaurants nearby. The bar was comfortable […] and reasonably priced. The hotel is in an old building and this is reflected in the size of the rooms or at least my room which was on the third floor right under the roof and was a little small but very comfortable, the bathroom contained a shower but no bath but was fine for my purposes. This hotel is NOT suitable for any business traveller. It does NOT provide, despite its enormous cost, a business office where guests can access their email. I had to walk miles in the cold rain to find one of the few internet cafes in Oxford. A true disgrace and a sham. Stay away!

The location of the hotel was great - very central just off the main high street. However, the room was very small (the bathroom was probably bigger than the bedroom) with only basic amenities. The food ordered through room service was also nothing to write home about. I wouldn't go out of my way to stay here again.

Hotellets rum er forholdsvis små men har det man skal bruge, rent og pænt og rigtig god morgenmad - spiste på to "bedre" hoteller men Mercures morgenmad var klart bedst. Så alt i alt et fint hotel med super god beliggenhed og rigtig godt til prisen. Dog STORT minus - man skal betale for Wifi - og det er altså for old school!

Fikk rommet allerede ved adkomst kl 11.30 , det var deilig siden turen hadde begynt 04.30 i Oslo. Rommet var lite men rent og ordentlig. Koselig lobby . Grei bellighenhet i forhold til flybusser og med Oxford sentrum i umiddelbar nærhet.

部屋はオシャレでいいホテルでした。 12時ぐらいにホテルに行ったのですが、チェックインの手続きをしてくれ、荷物も預かってくれました。 オックスフォードは駅から遠いホテルが多いので、徒歩で行ける範囲のホテルとしてはいいんじゃないでしょうか。

Vi hadde en flott weekend på dette hotellet. De ansatte var hyggelig og hjelpsom. Rommet var fint, et minus med teppegulvet, men god luft. Vi hadde betalt rommet inkl. frokost , vi kunne spise fra buffeen og bestille fra menyen. Dette var et pluss. Det var en koselig lobby med bar hvor en kunne slappe av og spille spill som var tilgjengelig.

Hotellet er centralt beliggende på High Street med mulighed for parkering ved betaling til hotellet. Værelserne er rigtig fine, hyggelige og rengøringen er i top. Personalet, derimod, var meget forvirret. De ansatte opførte sig som om det var deres 1. dag på arbejde, hvilket i høj grad gik ud over serviceniveauet og skabte en del irritation.
