We really enjoyed the hotel...the pool was very clean...we couldn't hear any noise from the hallway. The breakfast was very good.

I think for the price of this accommodation I would be wiling to spend another $20 to stay at the Hilton, Marriot, or similar accommodation. The phones didn't work properly and after several tries I went to the front desk where I was informed they were "changing their system" and instructions on how to use the phone were given, this info could have […] easily been left in the rooms. I made several trips to the front desk for one thing or another at which time I was told " we are making changes" and "sorry for the inconvenience". I was left feeling this property was mismanaged and poorly maintained. I would suggest either spending less and getting the same type of accommodation or spending a little more and getting a much better accommodation. Holiday Inn in Portland was great for our family weekend away.. suite was perfect for us with small children.,.Kids loved the pool and the Breakfast buffett was very convenient. I think this hotel is a great value in comparison to the direct competitors in the area. Clean, convenient location with great friendly staff and decent amenities. I plan to stay there again on my next trip to Portland.

We were in Portland for a weekend getaway. The hotel was clean, the staff were friendly and great. The location was nice, many shops around and not too far from downtown Portland. I highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel pool and gym were both under renovations during our stay, however there was no forewarning on their website. The hotel was also supposed to have wireless internet, however it did not reach our room. Finally, the mini-fridge in our room was broken and it took 2 phone calls to have it changed. Otherwise an OK experience.

We have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express several times and find it conveniently located and pleasing. There were a few problems, however, with our last stay. We registered 4 people in the room and were given only 3 large towel sets. I wrote a note to request more towels the second night and I still only received 3 sets. It was inconvenient. The wifi […] was not reliable. We were traveling with teens and wifi is very important for their happiness. It didn't work well in the room and our daughters had to stand by the door to get service. They were not happy. We will probably give the hotel another chance but if the problems persist we will choose another place to staff the next time. Continua a leggere

Hotel was very clean. I just wish that since our reservation was for 6 and we paid extra for the extra people we did not have to come in each day and ask for additional linen and coffee cups. Everything came quickly but it was something we had to think about each day.

This Hotel was in a GREAT location and looks so nice as you drive up the road to the hotel. We were a little disappointed with the Cold Pool :( We also got with Towels that had old Makeup on them (ewwww), However the lady at the front desk was very good about getting us new towels (That had no stains :) Overall nice place and they had the BEST Complimentary […] Breakfast! The room was perfect for the price. i was able to use the extra space to set my toddler up so he would not be affected by mommy and daddy staying up past bedtime. The little kitchen area was also very useful for taking care of a toddler. The people who work there are friendly. They were accommodating about having coffee available extremely early in the morning. There was plenty of room, it was quiet and convenient. I would definitely go back. Is is far better than the Marriott on the same road, even though it doesn't have a restaurant.

We found the hotel to be large family friendly. The breakfast was good, with a wide variety of choices. We enjoyed the pool. The beds were quite comfortable. The staff where very friendly and courteous. There was an odor in the hallway, but it did not smell badly in the room. We enjoyed our stay.

We have stayed at this location 4 times, Always have great service. This time the mattress was not as comfortable as before. We stayed on the fourth floor and it was quiet and the air was better than on the sixth floor.

We got a suite because we had 3 adults and 3 children. The suite was so tiny we barely had floor space for our bags. The bathroom was so tiny you could not get in with your bag and close the door without holding your heavy bag over your head! When we pulled the 3rd bed out of the couch there was no bedding and the linen closet was empty too. When we […] called the desk for bedding they only brought sheets. We rented a King suite that happened to have handicap access. The carpet felt oddly damp, and the whole concept of having the bathroom sink in the bedroom is just plain gross. On our second night we were disturbed TWICE by an unidentifiable alarm place high on the wall that beeped and flashed briefly, then stopped. A call to the desk was not too helpful- […] they did not know what the alarm was and we were told that there was no engineer available but if it happened again they would move us to another room. An hour later it went off again, and they found an "engineer" from the hotel up the street who took the alarm box down and could not figure out what it was for. He left and finally came back to tell us that it is a handicap doorbell for deaf people, and that "kids must have been playing in the hall and ringing the doorbell." Except there was no doorbell outside the door- it was all just a meaningless annoying interruption of sleep. Continua a leggere

Registration staff gave me the keys while continueing to have their personal conversation-didn't ask if I had any ?'s. Went to room on first floor, toilet had wet used toilet paper left on seat, shower head was not clean, sheets on bed had already been slept on. Breakfast was a good spread. We have some experience with Holiday Inn Express Hotels in previous stays in the Saugus , Mass. property. Coming into Portland, Me. on what I find out later, was the busiest night in Portland's history...what with a large Music event, a Marathon, and all the Vacationers, a hotel room was hard to come by. I was "rocked" to hear this news as I came in […] without a reservation. A young male desk clerk , expressed his regret about no room available for us, but then gave us the latest update on where one might find a room. He thought a dozen rooms might be available at a , dare I say, Days Inn. Long story short, we did get one of the last rooms in Portland that night. We went back to the property the next evening and had a wonderful stay. The room was the best in our week long stay in Maine. The hotel claims to be non-smoking, but the sixth floor and our room absolutely reeked of foul old stale smoke. The mattress was somewhat uncomfortable as I could feel the springs poking me slightly. The air conditioner was an older style beneath-the-window affair, and its fan runs constantly at your choice of loud or deafening. Bizarrely, the lamp […] on the desk was unplugged, and there were no unused receptacles to plug it into since the only nearby plugs were taken by the nightstand lamp and alarm clock. This leads to the next problem--there are no convenient available plugs to recharge your phone, laptop, or tablet. The hotel includes free wifi, but it was overloaded and unusable during prime evening hours. Finally, the cleaning staff shorted us one towel and two washcloths each night. On the plus side, the room king suite was fairly large and the tv didn't have the slow, annoying lodgenet service that is so common. Parking was free, convenient, and ample. We liked the hotel's location too, near to many restaurants, shopping, and access to highways. For the cost, I expected much better. Continua a leggere

Well upon entering the room the room smelled of "garbage". It was so bad that we went to Target to purchase some perfume to spray in the room. That made it better then we went to dinner, upon coming back the room resumed back to the original bad smell. So we sprayed again, it was better then we woke in the am. The smell was gone, but really we just […] got accustomed to it, cause upon leaving and returning a couple hours later the smell was back. Lucky we only stayed there two days, otherwise it would have been unbearable. I wanted to complain, but my wife refused, saying they had our infomation & would make it bad for us somehow. This hotel is a good bargain -- inexpensive, breakfast included, comfortable beds, spacious rooms. It's the perfect stopover place. My only real complaint is that the breakfasts are really unhealthy; they should offer more fruit and real yogurt and boiled eggs, etc. And the coffee is weak. But it's included in the price. Good overall.
