I was looking for a reasonable hotel in Halifax and discovered The Hallibuton. The price included parking and breakfast. You are also within walking distance of most downtown Halifax attractions. I loved staying here it was great. The location was great close walking distance to amenities and some attractions. Bus routes near by made going farther easy. I especially loved the Bearly's blues bar accross the alley, I had an awesome time hanging out with the folks at Bearly's they were so hospitable. I loved the inhouse restuarant Stories, they […] put on a great feast.The lovely front desk gal "M" was wonderful she made sure an issue I had was taken care of right away. My issue? The cleaning staff at the halliburton actually clean the quilts on the beds! But the quilts have been cleaned so much that all the batting has seperated and collected in big lumps therefore leaving big cold gaps in the quilt. But "M" found me a couple blankets and another quilt. So they just need to replace the well washed quilts with new ones. housekeeping could use a little more care, I had 2 extra blankets put on my bed but they couldnt be bothered to make the bed with the extra blankets on so I had to do it. As well i used the shampoo and conditioner but it was never replaced for the next use. All the towels i had hung on the bar to use again were replaced, so much for following they're own environmentally friendly policies. other than that, which is nothing really i would love to stay there again and will definatly go back next time! Nice old hotel in a quite area of Halifax, Service was very good. Stories Restaurant was exceptional as was the service.

The bed was comfortable, the room was clean and quiet. My only issues were with the climate control - there is none, each townhouse is centrally heated/cooled, so there is no way to control the temperature of your individual room. They do include a tabletop fan and heater with the room, but I would have liked to actually cool the room, not just blow […] the air around, and the housekeeping -The room was very clean, and was cleaned every day by the staff, however, not once during our stay were the complimentary water bottles, toiletries or drinking glasses replaced. It got to the point where my wife had to put the drinking glass in the tub with the towels just to get a clean one. The hotel is very well located and is close to tons of restaurants and pubs, and overall I was very happy with my stay, I would just have liked better housekeeping services. Continua a leggere

Beautiful hotel in a great area of the city. Rooms are very clean and nicely updated with a good size bathroom. I would definitely recommend and will stay again. Best coffee of anywhere I’ve stayed.

Amazing place to stay! within walking distance to lots of restaurants, historic places & shopping. More of a bed and breakfast feel to it with each room being different. We will be back!

Quiet yet downtown. Mid-hill so close to the water but not all the way up the hill to get back to the hotel. Friendly staff. Rooms in 3 separate buildings of 3 floors each so, potentially, lots of stairs. Gracious feel to rooms but I couldn't stand upright on my side of the bed because of slanting ceiling. For our needs, the Halliburton Inn was perfect. Very nice, large ``queen-sized`` bedroom, perfect location, free parking, great breakfast. Our evening meal in the restaurant was excellent. I have only good things to say.

Don't come here unless you like hiking stairs with your luggage! The breakfast was lovely but we had to walk outside to the next building in the rain to get it. The room was really big and lovely but that did not outweigh the lack of an elevator and the walknin the rain for breakfast. Would not come here again.

Historic buildings with charming room in a great location.

The Haliburton Hotel in Halifax Nova Scotia is a sweet boutique hotel with all the amenities, free parking, and is close to the wharf area of Halifax. The hotel is housed in a historic building and has a lot of character. I especially liked the quiet courtyard behind the hotel with its peaceful garden setting and fountain, and the awesome curved stairs […] inside which lead to the second and third floors in the building we stayed in-- The Lithgow House, two doors down from the main hotel building. My only complaint was that our particular room had centrally controlled air conditioning, and it was a bit on the warm side - probably because we were on the top floor, and happened to visit during an unseasonably warm spell. it's downtown so if you are used to a quite night sleep this might not be for you.... if a little street noise wont bother you then this is a GREAT hotel, great staff, great breakfast and a beautiful building. the room had a great inviting and comforting feel to it. unique and enjoyable!!!!!!!

The Halliburton is my idea of the perfect little hotel. It was comfortable and offered all the conveniences I needed in the atmosphere of an historic boutique hotel. The incuded breakfast was more than adequate with fresh fruit salad, yogurt, boiled eggs, toast, banana bread, juice and hot beverage. With the included breakfast, I considered the room […] rate to be excellent it value. Ialso appreciated the complimentary local telephone calls and the wireless internet had a good reliable signal. The staff were friendly and caring. For me the most important thing was a good night's sleep on a comfortable bed. Very comfortable large room with all amenities. Good restaurants close by. Handy to the waterfront and the Westin for airport shuttle. Staff very helpful and friendly.

The complimentary continental breakfast was delicious and far more that we expected. Free parking downtown was also a plus. We would stay there again.

Loved almost everything about this hotel. Great location, beautiful quaint building, great parking, friendly staff. Our room was very large for the price, and the included breakfast each morning (coffee, choice of toast, spreads, cereal, juice, and cold boiled eggs), was adequate. The dining room was great. The only downside was the cleaning. The facilities […] were very clean and in good repair, and the cleaning person did make the beds, replace the towels, and left an envelop for tips each day. But something was always amiss- no new but needed shampoo and conditioner, no new toilet paper, forgot to replaced water bottles, only one packet of coffee every day despite two in the room, curtains not opened. Almost like they had ADD or they were under time pressure. Never had such limited housekeeping before. But the hotel was well worth it overall and would go back in a heartbeat. Continua a leggere

We were very pleased with the location of the hotel, and the fact that parking was included was convenient. Our room was large and very clean, and the bed was comfortable. We found our room to be a little cold, but found a space heater in the closet that warmed the room up in no time. Before I even review the hotel itself EAT AT THE RESTAURANT! The dinner we had at Stories (the hotel restaurant) was incredible to say the least. I am a linecook in PEI and I am extremely picky about where I eat and what I am being served. The menu changes daily and is very fresh. If you are a foodie this is the place to eat. I loved that our room wasn't your typical Ramada inn "heres the bed, heres the desk with the padded computer chair, and the armoire with the television inside. There was a small seating area and it was just quaint. The rooms weren't huge as stated in other reviews, but by no means would I say that we felt crowded or that the room was too small. the bathroom could have been bigger as two people can't really get ready to go out at the same time. I also agree that i would have liked to be able to control the temperature of our room. It wasn't too hot, but after you've been outside in the cold all day you want to come back to a warmer room than we came back to. However, it wasn't that big of a deal. the hotel staff was extremely helpful and very polite and even looked up things for us to do during the day. The continental breakfast was great in my opinion. Admittedly it was cereals, bagels, toast, yogurt and not an eggs and bacon deal. However, the bread wasn't wonderbread, the scones and cakes are made there, and the fruit was fresh cut and not out of a fruit cocktail can. I would rather have a higher quality cold breakfast than mediocre ham and runny eggs. All in all I would stay there again, eat there again, and recommend it to anyone and everyone. The Halliburton is a small hotel with rooms in three historic houses. It is located near the water front boardwalk, some decent restaurants (gourmet pizza, Thai food, pub food). It is possible to walk most places in central Halifax from there - including Dalhousie University (approx. 20 minute walk). Since it was winter when we stayed there, we sometimes […] used our hire car and appreciated the free parking space that came with our room. Breakfast was included in the price of our room. It was a basic self-serve, cold continental breakfast. Cereal was not offered. This was fine with us since we just wanted something light in the mornings. The rooms are decent and very clean. We had a little problem with noise from people out street on the Saturday night of our stay, but the other nights were quiet. Earplugs are a good idea if someone is a light sleeper. Our one issue with this hotel was on the last night of a three night stay, when something went wrong with the heating. Our room became unbearably hot. We had to close all the vents and sleep with the windows open. When I mentioned this to the front desk they said they were having the issue fixed, but I felt it might have been nice to discount our stay on our final night as we did not sleep well. I recommend this hotel for travelers who would like a clean, pleasant, centrally located place to stay. Continua a leggere

Helpful staff, convenient location, and delicious breakfast. Air conditioning was not turned on soon enough when weather got hot. Hotel employees were unable to turn on AC. They said the AC system was totally computerized.

The first thing one notices when arriving at the Haliburton Hotel is the down home charm of the place. It feels as if you are staying at a friend's place, or a distant relative's place instead of a hotel. The Staff were extremely polite, helpful, and accommodating. A big thumbs up to Dave at the front desk for helping to improve our stay with his suggestion […] of room type, permanent smile, and follow through on our requests. The breakfast in the morning (which was included) was delightful. From the server, to the cleaning staff of the hotel, everybody was super nice! We were greeted very courteously and our room was just as charming as we expected. The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of city attractions.. the wharf, many restaurants, the "Old Burying Ground", and the Public Gardens just to name a few.

We loved our stay at the Haliburton. It was our Honeymoon and everyone was so kind and helpful. We loved the location and the style of the hotel. We will definately be staying here everytime we come to Halifax.
