The hotel is ok for a quick emergency stay for men. Does not feel safe for family at all. The neighbourhood does not seem to be safe. Also, the price seems expensive in comparison to what you get. I have stayed at better places with the same prices.

The front desk tried to blame Hotels.com for having the wrong information about their hotel. They gave me to double bed, instead of the king bed I had paid for. Hotels.com was great, gave me a credit and called the hotel to find out if they really had no rooms with King-sized beds. (Of course, they did.) I will not be staying here again.

Close to the SF Airport. Lower floors were being re-done so we could not have a lower level room..also the elevator was broken. ( not happy, as I am disabled ) Could not get the room heater to heat up..all it did was blow cold air.. so, we froze all night.

The best thing about it was the maid service. They did a good job . Construction was going on constantly. Something we should have been told about up front when we booked. And non smoking means you can smoke in front of your room and everyone else ' s so the smoke travels into the rooms when you open your doors.

The photos looked fantastic but once you go to the hotel, you realize it's a converted motel. A lot of details are disappointing - peeling wall paper and some smell in the bathroom. The bed is comfortable though.

Currently being refurbished but did not disturb our stay. Our room yet to be refurbished but was still high quality, clean, comfortable and good soundproofing of windows - we rarely heard any traffic noise. Continental breakfast of good quality and quantity.

Convenient, close to the freeway and shopping areas, room was small but newly renovated and comfortable. Elevator was out of order, stairs could be steep for some, not all front desk staff was cheerful or courteous. Breakfast was simple (bagels, bread, oat meal, and fruits). I originally had planned to stay two nights (had only reserved one night, but had spoken to clerk upon my arrival about possibly one more night), but when I went to make coffee, the grounds were still there as well as coffee in the pot from some previous guest....I decided one night was enough. Also, the parking is very tight and crowded.

THE GOOD: - tasteful room decor (no scary psychedelic bedspreads!) - sheets were clean and so soft it was like sleeping on a large kitten - nice-sized flat screen tv - fridge, microwave, coffee maker, blow dryer - bathroom spacious and comfortable THE MEH: - tiny and uninspiring breakfast of pre-packaged pastries, bagels, cereal and instant oatmeal - […] not that I was considering swimming in October, but the pool was tiny and right off the street...kinda...uncool - room was on the smaller end of acceptable THE ANNOYING: - stayed for three nights, had to go back and get my key card reprogrammed EVERY NIGHT - maid came around at about 8:30am (she was very nice); when told to please GO AWAY, she smiled, nodded, then proceeded to return every 45 minutes. She is VERY DETERMINED to clean (though I will note she did a great job once we finally left). Use your DO NOT DISTURB sign or it will happen to you. OVERALL: Nothing to complain overmuch about. A nice little hotel in a moderate and unassuming neighborhood near downtown San Mateo. It ain't a Double Tree, but if you're used to Motel 6 or the like, it's quite a treat. It's a motel, basically, but the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean and sufficient. Flat screen, HD TV with cable. Coffeemaker worked well and coffee is provided. LIght switch inside door did not work, but it was easy enough to turn on a lamp once inside. The only chair was a rolling, leather desk chair. I stayed for 10 days. Very nice staff & clean room with new floor. Only downside was that the water pressure for the shower is too lite. The pool looked great being outside, it was too cold for my tastes. For the price it has a good mix of expected amenities.

This is a no frills hotel. If you want more stay elsewhere. That said for the class of hotel that it is I was very happy with it. And the bed was super comfy. If you are planning to use public transport be aware that the nearest train station is a little sketchy to get to (I didn't try it at night) and the other is pretty far. I stayed in this hotel for a week for business purpose. The apartment was all the way to the back of the building, therefore I was able to rest without much noise and disturbance in the morning. My husband and I didn't spend alot of time at the hotel or in our room but when we were there it was comfortable and the staff were friendly. The staff reacted with a sense of urgency when we requested additional services. The cleanliness of our room and the hotel itself was acceptable. Most everything was fine. But there was some wallpaper that was starting to peel. Just a maintenance thing that gives a bad impression. The beds were very comfortable though, so above all, that's the most important to me.

My only critism is that the cleaning staff seemed to slack some. I noticed this on more than one occasion. One instance they forgot to re stock toilet paper which I had to call the front desk for.

The front desk clerk was rude when I told her that I can't iron my clothes because there was black tart (gooey) all over the iron bottom. I asked her to replace the iron. She told me she will, but never replace it for the entire 6 days that I was there. Over all my stay was good.

coffee in the room but no sugar and cream. waited forever for hot water in the shower.........discoved that the valve was plumbed backwards........hot was cold and cold is hot. toilet seat was ill fitted..........moved around on the bowl. was awakened at 7:15 am Sunday by housekeeping vacuming a room close by...........comon, really???

The stay was comfortable but the oom was dirty. There was a weird smell in tha bathroom for all the 3 days. When we opened the towel , there was a big spider in it. The location is good but the cleanliness is something to be concerned about.

PROS: The bed was EXTREMELY comfortable, the bed sheets and towels were the softest of any linens at any hotel Ive ever stayed at (which, over the years, adds up to be a ton), and the room was exceptionally clean. CONS: They had obviously been doing renovations, which appeared a bit shotty/rushed in some areas of the bathroom ceiling and walls around […] the shower. The bathroom was very clean, but the patchwork was not the best, and detracted from the room a bit. It is a bit of a drive into downtown SF/attractions (~20-30 min), but ease to and from freeways is nice, and public transportation is a great option if desired. Parking at the hotel is quite tight as well. Employees were fine when encountered, but we over our four day stay we did not see many, which is the only reason I rated it a 3 (I didnt have enough data to rate low or high). Finally, their "complimentary" breakfast might as well have been non-existent--the options were two choices of cereal and a handful of pastries/bagels. My husband and I just stocked up the fridge in the room and used the microwave when needed and were fine with that, but for those of you that expect to get full on the breakfast here, I would highly recommend having a backup plan. Overall, though, this is a great hotel (the pros FAR outweight the cons), and I would absolutely recommend it and would stay here again myself should I ever find myself in the area again. Stayed at this property many times in the past and was satisfied with everything, When I entered my room this time the entry light was not working which I reported to the front desk. Not fixed 2nd day and again reported to front desk not fixed and reported again. When I checked out on the 4th morning the front desk could have cared less with this issue […] - too bad. Clearn comfortable room at a very good price. Only two problems: First, there was no power to about half the outlets in the room. Second, the neighborhood was not great. It was fine in the day time, but was hesitant to venture out after dark.

Room was clean and the TV was excellent. Our room was close to the road and you could hear the traffic going by. We also had a noisy neighbor. The remodeled bathroom did not have a soap holder and the vent did not work. The office/ breakfast room is very tiny and cramped with only 4 tables. We used this location to be close to SFO.

When I checked in, the staff told me that the next day some cable guy was going to come through my room between 10 and 5 to do some work. Parking was free, which is nice for the Bay Area, but again leads to other issues with the adjacent guests likely to stay here. The free breakfast was of the "you get what you pay for" variety, with a few bland cereal choices, oatmeal packets, cellophane pastries, bread and bagels.
