Recensito da un utente di Hotels.com in data 2 ott 2012Avevo prenotato una doppia e mi hanno assegnato l'equivalente di una suite, luminosissima, molto curata e pulita. La stanza era molto confortevole, con wi-fi, grande tv e bollitore per potersi fare una bevanda calda in camera. La signora che ci ha accolto è stata di una disponibilità squisita, ci ha fornito tutte le informazioni che ci servivano. Colazione ottima (inclusa nel prezzo modesto del soggiorno). Come tutte le pensioni "storiche" scozzesi l'ascensore è assente (alcuni hanno annaspato nel portare le valigie al secondo piano), ma almeno le scale sono ben ampie. Unico neo a mio giudizio la posizione: è in una zona residenziale non proprio centralissima, ben servita dai mezzi ma con i continui acquazzoni scozzesi bisogna armarsi di un po' di buona volontà per mettersi in cammino. E se non si ha voglia di uscire pazienza, l'alloggio è spettacolare...

The management and staff could not have been more accommodating. They booked restaurant reservations. The bellman transported our bags to the train station and helped load them on the train. Very nice but not 5 star. No shower caps, cotton wool or even tea/ coffee tray supplied in the bedroom. Available when requested but not there as standard. We had a problem at check-in, there was a breakdown in communication over the booking. We had booked inclusive breakfast, but this message had not got to hotel. So print out your emails! "Disappointing"
Very disappointing check in experience- wanted to check in a bit early (1.30) as was not feeling well. Was told room was almost ready and waited in drawing room. 1.5 hours later still not ready, this was after 3 enquiries when we were told that the room was "almost ready", there was an apology and an explanation that the reason for the delay ws that […] we had requested a twin room. Needless to say was shocked when we arrived in our room to discover two single beds joined together with king sheets! This is not what I would expect by a twin room. At that point was tired and fed up so did not raise the issue, however at check out the following day I noticed a £3.95 charge- this was for a coffee I'd ordered during our long wait- I had assumed was complimentary, given our complaint at the time AND that we did not request or sign a bill. So at this stage I vented to the girl at reception about our experience, who was quite blasé in telling us that there was little she could do about our experience at that stage and that we should have complained earlier. Left quite a bad taste in our mouth as we left. Not what one would expect from a 5 star hotel. We won't be returning. Still feel upset about the amount of money I spent. Loved The Balmoral-absolute luxury with attentive but not overpowering staff. We had an executive room overlooking the castle. It was immaculate and beautifully furnished. The bed was very comfortable too but we did hear street noise at about 2am from late night revellers so if that may concern you ask for a room that does not face on to the street. "Just perfect in every single way"
The Balmoral is next to the train station and within short walking distance to everything within the city that we wanted to do and see. The Balmoral is a beautiful historic hotel in a great location right in the centre of Edinburgh and only a couple of minutes' walk from Waverley Station. The service is fantastic. The staff can't do enough for you. The only downside for us was that we didn't have a great room. The room was not very large so a bit cramped and the view was looking onto […] the brick walls of the hotel itself, rather than the great view of Edinburgh most of the other rooms would have afforded. "elegant and centrally located"
The Balmoral is in the grand old hotel tradition. The only slight lack in an otherwise lovely experience is that there are no grand parlors on the first floor; they appear to have been turned into conference rooms.
