OVERALL, THE HOTEL IS DECENT. MY ONLY COMPLAINT IS THE "CONTINENTAL" BREAKFAST OFFERED AND INCLUDED IN THE ROOM'S RATE. VERY POOR (STALE CROISSANTS, PLASTIC CUTLERY,...) IN A DARK ROOM ADJACENT TO THE LOBBY. BETTER OFFER NOTHING AND MARK DOWN THE ROOM'S PRICE.

Only problem we encountered was the chaotic dining room during the free breakfast service. Guests were queuing for tables in a very small space, we gave it a miss on the second morning.

The reveiws were right on target... friendly helpful staff at this lovely boutique hotel with spotless rooms and superior linens. The free continental breakfast was perfect. OJ was fresh squeezed and the self service coffee station included a carafe of steamed milk. Would stay there again!

Hotel was very clean, updated, comfortable and conveniently located. The people who greeted us at the front desk were very friendly, efficient, and helpful. A complimentary continental breakfast was served in the morning as a nice touch. I will definitely use this hotel again upon returning to New York City.

Great neighborhood is the best feature of the San Carlos. That said, I found the beds incredibly uncomfortable and the staff not terribly friendly (they were competent but did not go out of their way to be friendly - since I was not there to make friends, this was not a terribly important issue). The printer in the biz center was inoperable and there […] was no one to help out. Housekeeping staff was prompt, courteous and helpful. I would stay there again but only if other hotels comparably priced in the same neighborhood are unavailable. Not bad but no my first choice. Continua a leggere

This hotel was clean the staff was helpful and pleasant. The location was just minutes from everything we came for. Parking was reasonable. I was happy with the size of the room, roomy with high ceilings. It was very comfortable for NY standards. The water pressure in the shower was strong.. great. The soaps were brand name. The kids (two kids under […] 7) slept on the pull-out sofa which was fine for small children. The noise level was low. We had no sleep interuptions from outside and was never disturbed by other guests/rooms. The reason this did not get a 5 star is because we ordered a King Suite and recieved a Queen Suite. I didn't realize technically they couldn't guarantee a king. Why they cannot guarantee a king is puzzeling I think they should. The continental breakfast was ok. Not much to choose from. Expect more of an a.m. snack. The building is older for the wear. But clean. Overall very good. If you have a small family I recommend their suite as a comfortable and affordable option compared to other Hotels in the area. Continua a leggere

This hotel is well located, clean with large rooms including the bathroom. It was also relatively well priced. The service is terrible and the hotel workers are rude. There is not enough workers so the same person is helping people get their luggage to and from their rooms, onto the street, hailing cabs, and putting and retrieving bags from the storage. […] All while the lazy desk staff ignore the needs of the guests. Highly recommended central location. Comfortable room, knowledgable and friendly staff.

We enjoyed the San Carlos. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The location is excellent. The rooms are clean and well maintained. Breakfast is pretty basic and often inviloves waiting in line for a table.

We looked at a lot of reviews before choosing this hotel and we were not disappointed. Exceptionally friendly staff, immaculately clean rooms (and good size for NYC) and very well designed and maintained. I like this part of NY - only three blocks from Rockefeller Centre/5th Avenue but less chaotic than Times Square (which we could still walk to easily). […] Just right for us with two young children. Free breakfast was welcome - simple but good quality and enough for kids. Breakfast room a bit crowded but we always got a table. We would definitely go back when we're in NYC and I would happily use it for my next business trip. I've stayed in a lot of hotels in NYC over the years and this is a real find. Continua a leggere

Excellent service

Great hotel! Great concierge! Gave us an extra rollaway bed. No fuss. Worth every penny!

The Staff at the San Carlos is very pleasant to deal with. Our rooms are nice, clean and the beds are just perfect - not too soft, not too hard. The San Carlos is within walking distance to the Empire State building, the Rockefeller Center, 5th Avenue and even the Central Park. It is right around corner from the Waldorf Astoria which looks much busier […] and certainly more expensive. On the day we checked out, we left our bags with the Bellman so we could spend more time in the city. We will return to the San Carlos soon. Continua a leggere

Firstly I must say the service here is very, very good, however it’s the tangibles that let this place down. Dated rooms, huge, loud air conditioning unit in the room. I heard good things about this place from work colleagues, but on their second visit they were also disappointed. Would recommend the San Carlos if the rooms were slightly more looked […] after. Very pleasant and extremely helpful staff made it easy for us to plan our day and navigate through New York. Surprisingly great location too!! Rooms were very comfortable and clean and made the trip all the more relaxing after each packed day of sightseeing. I would highly recommend it and plan to stay here on subsequent trips to New York. Excellent quality and value in this part of town. Nothing fancy just well kept and clean with good sized rooms. Te absence of view and an on-site restaurant make this a functional business hotel. Lots of restaurants around and a nice breakfast place across the street fit in well.

This was our first trip to NYC. The San Carlos hotel staff made it an excellent vacation. They helped us with every little detail...above and beyond at every turn. Great location. Large room for our whole family. Thank you!!!

Great, comfortable hotel.Very nice staff. Large spacious rooms - largest of any hotel I've been in in NY. Feels more like a comfortable condo - not like a hectic NY hotel.

Have stayed at many hotels in NYC and this hotel was my favorite so far! Big room, comfy beds, fast elevators, early check in, free breakfast (little weak. but free), and the hotel staff didn't constantly hound us. Also great location! Would definetly recommend!

I chose the San Carlos based on Trip Advisor and Hotels.com ratings, and I'm delighted to say they were spot on. The staff was friendly and accommodating, the room was clean, quiet, and comfortable, and the location was terrific---easy to walk anywhere in midtown or the east side, easy access to the subway, and located next to Mint, a Zagat-rated restaurant […] that fed us very well one evening. My 10-year old niece and her friend had a wonderful introduction to New York, and are already clamoring to return. Continua a leggere

We were so excited for our Christmas trip to NYC and this year we decided to stay over night. We considered the Waldorf but were so glad that we chose the San Carlos! we had 2 super comfy queen sized beds plus a kitchenette and a sitting room. PERFECT for kids. Plenty of room to spread out. The room was immaculate the bed s were so comfortable ... lush […] bedding and higher end ammenities made this hotel a dream. We are going to come back again next year and stay at San Carlos again for sure. perfect location, close to rock center, central park, radio city music hall and all the great shopping FAO schwartz, you name it. there was a cute litte diner across the street we had quick and affordable lunch. The owner of the hotel even greeted us at breakfast!! So nice. So warm and the staff just made us feel like we were their only guests! they helped us find spots to eat and were so friendly -- we had a big stroller that needed to get hauled around and they helped alot. I stayed here for business...the rooms had free wireless internet, which was great! The room was very comfortable; service was oustanding; food at hotel restaurant was pretty good (so long as you do not mind the overly trendy lighting). I would recommend this place to anyone!

i was extremely please with this hotel. it was absolutely spotless, the beds were so comfortable that i wanted to sleep all day, and the staff was friendly and wonderful. i would definitely stay here again.

The San Carlos Hotel was much nicer than I anticipated. We usually stay at the Omni but it was booked so decided to take our chances with the San Carlos. We were pleasantly surprised. My room was small but very, very clean. It was also quiet for NYC. The hotel staff was very pleasant and responsive and the fitness room is top quality. My only complaint […] was no room service. I had a spectacular experience at the Hotel San Carlos. I was greeted with smiles and outstanding customer service. The front desk clerk was super and even had the owner of the hotel come out and say hello. My room was larger than most hotel rooms in the same price range in New York. Location was prime, hotel was clean, and noise level in the room was […] minimal. WOW! Is all I have to say about the Hotel San Carlos. 总体来说还不错。有简单的自助早餐。地理位置也不错。相对价格合理。

Nous sommes parti à quatre et avons loué une suite avec salon et une chambre séparé.Très bon aceuil et service de la part du personnel, valises gardés par leur soin. Le petit déj, bien que n'étant pas assez varié pour certains contenait l'éssentiel. Diverses variétés de pains, des croissants, des fruits etc, et tout ce qu'il faut en boissons : chocolat […] chaud, jus d'orange, thé et café. L'appartement était spacieux et en bon état. Et ça pour chaque piéce. Très bon lit dans la chambre, salle de bain assez grande et chose pas toujours présente dans les hôtels deux grands placards pour ranger les affaires. Attention le coin cuisine contient un frigo et un micro ondes mais pas de plaque de cuisson donc impossible de faire à manger sur place, juste rechaufer. Deux petites critiques : impossible de dormir avec le chauffage ou la clim alumé car fait vraiment trop de bruit, nous étions à l'hôtel en période estivale intermédiaire donc on pouvait l'eteindre la nuit mais qu'en est il en hiver ou en été? Le confort du canapé lit dans le salon est assez sommaire. En résumé c'est un bon hôtel, avec de grandes piéces, le petit déj et assez bien placé. Continua a leggere
