Hotel deLuxe Portland

very nice hotel! on each Thursday they organize the cinema open-air on the roof with old black&white movies. very nice!

The hotel is convenient, quality of service was excellent, great location and the hotel is beautiful. The rooms are a bit small and they could use more sound proofing. The staff could not be more helpful when our bill/rooms got screwed up. The worked to make it right. We were pleased with our stay and would return.

very nice place. older hotel but been completely refurbished to bring back the classic glory. Nice restaurant and cool little bar area. Enjoyed my stay very much. As with all older hotels, rooms were smaller but clean and classy. I would stay here again.

This is the second time I've stayed at this hotel and I travel to Portland at least 2-3 times per year. I like the decor and theme of the hotel. It is very comfortable and clean but the rooms are smaller than other hotels I've visited. I could do without the noise of the railcars throughout the night. The restaurant is excellent with great service. […] My biggest complaint was the cable TV. In the morning most of the channels didn't work and the night before they were fine. The young lady at the front desk asked me about my stay and I told her about the problem. Only an apology was offered. She thought maybe the cable was loose. I told her again a few channels work so it couldn't be that. At that point I felt she wasn't listening to me and didn't really care. My first stay was great, but this stay may have changed my mind about staying again. My business associate stayed in another room and he said his remote didn't work and that he had to stand at the TV to operate it. Continua a leggere

I would stay there again

Hotel was great for the price! Upon arrival, we were immediately checked in, even though we arrived at 10am. The staff was extremely courteous and accommodating. They gave us Californians "loaner" umbrellas. The restaurant at the hotel has delicious breakfast. I would recommend this hotel to friends. I consider it a 4 star hotel.

Instead of going thru the detail I will just say that the Hotel DeLuxe is a great hotel. I travel at least 1 to 1 1/2 weeks a month for work and I always to stay at smaller / boutique hotels . The Hotel DeLuxe fits that to a tee. From the welcoming by the doormen to the fair well at checkout it is an overall great experience . We stayed at the Hotel deLuxe for 4 nights during our first trip to Portland. We had a great time and loved our choice of hotel. The room we had was big, with high ceilings and lots of light. The bathroom was OK, and there was a walk-in closet. The fitness facility left something to be desired, but we weren't expecting much anyway. The location was […] great - close to everything we wanted to see/do. We got a few restaurant recommendations, which were great, and the staff was always pleasant. The breakfast (room service) was so-so (definitely better places to get an egg breakfast in the city), but the lounge area in the lobby was cool and the menu looked great. The hotel is in an old building and has been extensively renovated to look beautiful, luxurious and full of old Hollywood charm. Black and white pictures of Hollywood stars are everywhere. Decided to spend a couple of nights in Portland with my wife. It was her birthday and we were going to take in a Trailblazer game and a concert. I chose this hotel as it was decored using items and pictures from the glory days of Hollywood films. One of the best moves I have ever made. This is a lovely property and the service is exceptional. I try to stay here when I am in Portland. It's not in the heart of downtown but a very easy walk to the Pearl etc. The rooms are on the smaller side but are very comfortable. It is an older building so it makes sense. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Hotel is very clean and bright. Rooms were on the small side and felt cramped. Location is technically close to the Pearl and downtown, but difficult to access because is separated by a highway and is in a strange/undefined neighborhood. Not conducive to walking from the hotel.

This is a really nice boutique hotel with a Hollywood theme thoughout. Freindly and helpful staff. However, 22USD for parking nightly or a fraction thereof if you take your car out multiple times is just a bit too much. Then, when you can get broadband access at home for about 10USD per month, to have to pay 10USD per 24hours in a hotel is ridiculous. […] Was the only hotel we stayed in on a west coast road trip that wanted to charge for wifi.... Hotel felt like it catered to a young and chic crowd, paintings of Monroe and movie stars on the walls...Room was small, but comfy and adequate, I travel for work weekly and seldom review places unless they stick out to me...I liked this place.

Excellent hotel. clean, super friendly, and charming too! the staff was so welcoming and nice. will definitely stay there again! came down from seattle for the night...will be back again!

Gorgeous details in both the lobby/indiv. floors as well as the rooms itself. Felt a little wierd to have a puppy stay there with us in such a nice place, but the hotel staff was overjoyed to see him (or at least faked it well) and reassured us that it was very normal at hotel deluxe to bring your pet along. They even provided him with a large pet ped, […] water/food dishes, a toy, and even a complimentary bag of treats! The only bad thing was the size of the rooms apparently designated for pet owners. It was VERY small, one of the smallest rooms Ive stayed in west of the Atlantic, but still managed to be cozy and quaint. Overall it was a great experience. Hotel deluxe is definitely on the high end of the pet friendly spectrum, but if your looking for a bit of luxury with your pet by your side, hotel deluxe is definitely the way to go! Excellent hotel. Hadn't stayed here since it changed from The Mallory. Great renovation, great restaurant, just a nice classic hotel. Room was excellent, but just a tad small. The bar off the lobby is great and they really know their mixology!

The decor was very nice, although our room was rather small and dimly lit, which made it difficult to see things in the closet. No arm chair, just a small table and chair. Bathroom had retro subway style tiles, but it was very small, pedestal sink, no counter top for toiletries. Coffee/tea facilities are located on a small cocktail trolley, not much […] room to make coffee, no silverware either. No in room safe! The location is very good, close to the Max red line light rail, that goes to the airport and down town. The MLS soccer stadium is just a couple of blocks away. Continua a leggere

We had a Mom & Dad weekend getaway recently and stayed at the Hotel dlLuxe for the first time. We booked the bigger of the King rooms which was very comfortable and clean. Easy walking distance to the Pearl and Northwest districts and downtown. We walked to the Symphony. Staff was attentive and helpful. The bathrobes were comfy too. The only negative […] was there was no heat in the bathroom, which was a bit cold since it was very cold outside -- it was [slightly] snowing. It also is an old building, and we did smell a slight musty smell in the room. Food (and drinks) in the restaurant were very good. We spent the weekend with friends in Portland. Loved the hotel and its bar and dining facility. Great staff and very comfortable room. We all enjoyed the decor, so much fun seeing all the oldies but goodies flim stars. Great!

The hotel was very conveniently located, the staff was nice, and the atmosphere was great. I would definitely stay there again.

The hotel was great but they only offered spray-shampoo and conditioner that was in a hard bottle that made it impossible to squeeze. They also charged the standard hotel rate of $25 for parking your car literally across the street and don't offer to let you park it yourself. fun hotel, room a bit small. Gracie's for dinner was great!

I felt that the hotel could have had complementary parking as they own the parking garage next door. For an overnight stay it was an additional thirty dollars.

When we were told there is only Valet parking or street parking we were a little surprised. Instead of empathizing with us, the valet attendant said,"Everybody's got to make money." So we paid to valet the car with the hotel.

Very nice. Staff was excellent, we would visit again.

We stayed at Hotel DeLux on a recent trip to Portland. As we are originally from Portland, we know the history of the hotel when it was The Mallory. Our grandparents used to stay here. They have done a beautiful job restoring it. We had brunch at Gracies-it was one of the best brunches ever. We met old friends in the lobby and had drinks, very confortable. […] Rooms are small-more European style-,so be aware of that if you are used to large hotel rooms. My family usually meets for Christmas Eve dinner at Gracie's, a fine restaurant in the Hotel deLuxe, so, as the out-of-town member, I decided to book a room there. As others have said, the rooms are small -- typical for an older hotel -- but quite comfortable. Staff was friendly and courteous. Parking can be an issue: valet parking with unlimited in […] and out is the most expensive, or full day parking at the garage across the street is less. Both are in line with other hotels. On-street parking is available (meters take debit/credit cards), so, having arrived in the late afternoon, I paid up to 7 pm, when parking is free, as it was the next day, thus saving a bundle. Meter rates go up during events at nearby Jeld-Wen Field. The small fitness center on the 2nd floor has eliptical trainer, treadmill, recumbant bike, etc. Wireless internet is available for a fee, or free if you allow them to email you about their rewards plan. Everything about the hotel was charming. The room looked just like the photos online. Clean, well-decorated, high ceilings, friendly and helpful staff. You have to walk a few short blocks to/from the MAX, but it's not too bad. The classic Hollywood theme is well-done.

This wonderful hotel has a lot of old world charm and is unique with its hollywood/art deco interior design. The staff, from the guys working the front doors, to the front desk staff are first rate. I want to expand on this a little and add that they were very friendly, helpful and not the least bit stand offish or snotty(which has not been the case […] with the youth in Portland). Just clean cut great american college people trying to make it the old fashioned way! The hotel is a few short blocks away from the action-but this is a good thing because the area is quieter and therefore more conducive to a good nights sleep. Our hotel stay was great and the staff was very friendly. The website pictures make things look a lot roomier than they actually are. Our standard room was the smallest room we have ever stayed in. Even though we were shocked by how much smaller the room, lobby, and bar were than online pictures the hotel had great quality. The restaurant serves amazing […] breakfast. Street parking wasn’t hard to find and a lot cheaper if you are going to be coming and going. Since it is several blocks from the center of downtown we drove a lot and paid parking tickets work all over the city. Wonderful old theatrical theme throughout the hotel. Very welcoming lobby. Wonderfully appoint bar. Beautiful diningroom. The rooms were large and quiet. All the staff were friendly and very helpful.

Loved the Hotel deLuxe! Aside from just a couple of downsides, it was a great stay. The staff is phenomenal as is the service. The hotel reeks with old Hollywood charm and is upkept exceptionally well. The location is pretty good....within walking distance to downtown Seattle and the Pearl District but the light rail is right outside. Rooms were clean […] and comfy. I had a corner room and it was really roomy, although I have heard that the others aren't. An upgrade is probably worth it. Glamorous dining room and swank, darkly lit bar. Downsides are.....thin walls, couldn't sleep in because you can hear the next door neighbors shower and flush as well as the light right outside. And...small bathroom with poor lighting, not very conducive to a woman getting ready as there are no other mirrors with outlets in the room. Loved our accomodations. Great staff, service, valet, everything about the place is terrific. The fact it's been a hotel since 1911 with all the wonderful updates makes it very special. Try the Elvis pancakes with a friend, to much for one person, but very tasty. Try the flights of whiskey and vodka, they were enjoyed by our husbands

I was very impressed with this porperty. Not only was the service top-notch, the property was lovely and comfortable. I would request a room away from the street as I was in a corner room an it was quite noisy. It didn't really bother me, but it would be too noisy for a light sleeper. Most impressive was the bartender in the Driftwood Room. I had dropped […] a case with my Mont Blanc pen inside. He quickly went to the front desk, they called my room and returned the case. The Hotel deLuxe is superb! Exceptionally classy and fun. If you find a good rate, I say go for it. They have a pillow menu in case the pillows in your room aren't up to your standards. They also have a button on the phone just labeled "make it so." Upon pushing this button one of their many friendly staff members will attempt to provide you with whatever […] your heart desires. The location is great, just 3 blocks from the fareless square zone in downtown Portland, making it easy to see the downtown sights. Be sure to also check out the Hawthorne and Belmont areas with the purchase of a simple bus ticket. The decor is exceptionally classy and the entire hotel is lovely.
