Overall the hotel was great but the television reception was bad, the hotel was not aware the mall was closed on Easter Sunday (we went there and security asked us to leave), and the pool needed some maintenance (floor was not leveled and there was puddles of water everywhere around the pool). We stayed for 4 days to visit DC sites which were about 5 to 10 minutes via metro rail. Hotel was connected to the fashion mall which was great as we shopped and ate at restaurants in the mall. The metro rail is also at the mall so we didn't have to step outside to catch it. Hotel was clean and safe. Friendly staff throughout the hotel. Luv the steam […] n sauna rooms. "Convenient and comfortable hotel"
The hotel is 2 metro stops (6 minutes) from National Airport...and 10 minutes from DC on the Metro. It is basically imbedded in a shopping center and is probably the closest Ritz-Carlton to a Costco in the world. Nice service and comfortable room. I usually don't stay at a hotel in this category of high service, but the location was perfect for seeing the sites of DC without having to drive into the actual city. You don't have to go outside to get to the Metro stop. Just exit the hotel into the upscale Mall and go down to the food court level to access the Pentagon City Metro entrance. My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights with our two small children and we were amazed at how nice and helpful the staff was. Every need was met and the staff went above and beyond to make us happy. The room was a little small compared to what we have stayed in when visiting other hotels but it was still comfortable. The room had plenty of towels, was […] super clean and appeared to be well maintained. Our only complaint was that the AC only kept the room at about 74 even though we had it set to 68. We arrived at the hotel a few days after a devastating thunderstorm had knocked out power to a large portion of DC, MD, & VA. The hotel had opened up to refugees that had no power so they did not have a room with 2 double beds as we had ordered. They gave us a room with a king bed and a rollaway bed. "A very good hotel in a good shopping area."
I would recommend this hotel to guests that would like to be near good shopping and have a car to get to other areas of DC and historic civil war sites. I can't say enough about the professionalism of the staff. The hotel lobby and common areas are very nice, the rooms could use some renovations but they are still "nice"--just not what I would rate as a 5. "Not as nice as it used to be"
This definitely isn't the same Ritz since it became part of the Marriott chain. Other hotels in the area are better updated, like having charging ports in the rooms for laptops / cellphone. The Ritz granted aerly check-in at my request, but we arrived at the normal check-in time at 3:00 PM. As mentioned in preivious reviews, the staff were very friendly and courteous, the room was very clean and modern, and the location allowed for last minute shopping, since there are several shopping areas nearby.
