Homewood Suites by Hilton, Riverwalk San Antonio

We loved the location of the hotel, and the breakfast was decent with a nice view. The staff was friendly. The hotel is old, pretty run down looking and needs updating. Plumbing fixtures leaked, in general the place did not look clean. I would not stay here again on my next trip to San Antonio for these reasons.

It was a great hotel room. Enjoyed the stay will definitly stay again.

I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel it was clean and the staff was really nice and professional. I would recommend this hotel to all my family and friends.

Great hotel, great location, great price and friendly staff but need to hire more maids - my room was not cleaned till after 4PM three days in a row

I would go back to the Homewood Suites in San Antonio. For what seemed like a reasonable rate compared to other hotels right on the River, our room was a suite with a full kitchen and we took advantage of the breakfast every morning as well as the cocktail hour during the week. As another review stated, the hotel is located right on the Riverwalk but […] at the quiet end - restaurants and bars are a 5-10 minute walk away. Unfortunately, you do have to pay for parking but that just goes with the busy city...don't try to shuffle your car around to get a better rate, you'll only save about $5. great location and great room/suite

My baby is 12 months old and when crawling around on the carpet got completely black on hands, knees and feet. I asked at the front desk and was told they were cleaning carpets next week. Super yucky! Also, no tub to wash the baby in, only standing shower. Otherwise, breakfast was good and location was good. We chose this hotel for our wedding anniversary. There is no clear entry point from the sidewalk. You literally have to enter through the valet drive. Valet staff stated we can leave the car there until 2pm the next day (turned out to be an addition charge). Check-in time is suppose to be 3pm. We arrived at 4:30pm to check in and was advised by Victor […] that our room would not be ready for 30 more minutes. I made him (Victor) aware that we would be waiting in the lobby, which Victor stated he would come find us when our room was ready. At 5:30pm, one entire hour later without any word from Victor, we go to the desk to check the status of our room. The gentleman at the counter gets on the radio to check the status of our projected room (#514). The cleaning staff advises that the room is STILL dirty. He then asks the cleaning staff on the radio to see if room #708 is available, but oddly asks the staff to response in Spanish (??). He then advises me that the room has been cleaned, but that sheets have not been put on yet and that it will be another 20 minutes. Twenty minutes passes and our room is finally ready. It is now 5:50pm, exactly 1hr 20mins since we walked into the facility. Note: There were a total of 3 groups that waited nearly 3 hours to get into the rooms. This facility was not prepared at all. We enter the room to find a blood stain on the door leading into the bedroom. Deciding to not risk waiting another hour for a room, we didn't even bother to alert the desk. There were no local TV stations to watch at all, which forced us to pay $$ to have some entertainment before we fell asleep. Their "free" morning buffet was not a buffet at all. It was more of "eat this or go somewhere else" kind of meal. While we are packing to leave I call the valet desk to have them bring my car. We just spent three nights here at the Homewood Suites over St. Patrick's Day Weekend. The suites had plenty of room that included a small kitchen area with table, two double beds, and a fold out sofa bed. Another reviewer said the TV's were old but they must have been recently replaced. The room had a full size fridge with ice maker, small stove, microwave, […] and some utensils. A few little downsides with the hotel. There are only two elevators which can mean you may be waiting awhile to get to your room. The rooftop pool is small but the kids enjoyed it. The morning breakfast was pretty good but nothing special. The worst part about the breakfast was they had 3 stations set up where you could make your own waffles. The issue was one person would make 10 at a time for the whole family. The light evening snack was a nice surprise. It was a full dinner and they even had a menu posted in your room on what they were having during the week. I thought that was a nice touch. The hotel is located on the end of the riverwalk on a nice quiet area. You are never more than about a 15 minute walk from any attraction on the river...except for maybe the tower of americas. It's walking distance close great location, but not worth the money. First, there check-in is a joke, people mentioned it on line, but I didn't think it would be a problem but it was!! Check in at 3pm. At 4pm they told us our room not ready. Four family's were already waiting in lobby! The pool is a tiny cold joke, 6x10 feet max. We had to call to have […] the room cleaned, then call again after two hours because no one came. The worst is there valet, it costs $23.96, a day not $22.00 like what was on the Internet, then further insult the valets used my boyfriends Lexus to smoke in!! They left trash, ashes, a huge mess, bus tickets, and even documents from the hotels insurance program. Like this is where they took there breaks for two days!! He is a smoker so they thought we couldn't tell. But they left trash and documents, we found the insurance info and bus transfers after we were all the way home in Plano. Such a disappointment from what we expected from a Hilton. What time is check-in? No real pool or jacuzzi, the valets will ruin your car, so not worth it. Even butts on the floor board and after we gave a big tip the first day. Hilton should look into this property. Continua a leggere

I enjoyed our stay, we had a late check in and left early so we did not get to enjoy everything... My only suggestion would have the breakfast a little more organized and maybe add a waffle maker... not much of a selection.

This hotel is located in a great area of the River Walk and the staff is so wonderful to all your needs. the room was clean clean clean and comfortable. We will stay next time we head to the RW

This hotel was everything we expected. Rooms were nice and service was great. We didn't know about the diners at night when we made our reservations so it was a nice extra.

I stayed here only for one night as I had a business meeting in San Antonio. There is a Westin located almost next door so I took both my evening and morning meal there as I am a picky eater who doesn't eat gluten or sugar (basically the contents of "continental breakfast") but love food. My room was very clean but the bathroom had only a shower (no […] tub) which was a bit of a bummer as I enjoy a soak before retiring. Overall, I would say this property is perfectly adequate for a business overnight or two, especially if you don't plan to spend much time there. We stayed with two eighteen months old children and found the facilities ideal, with a small shop and laundry being useful to have. The room was a good size and had everything we needed. Everything about this hotel was enjoyable! Except Gabriel... He must have been having a bad day, because he did not explain anything about our stay and when we asked he seemed bothered. Another employee had to have noticed because she came over and was so helpful. Thank you Destiny! I can say it left a bad tastes in my mouth, if paying 20.00 night, […] I hope to get some sort of service... And I garauntee I didn't 20.00 a night. He needs more training. Our check in time was to be 3:00P.M. Our room was finally ready at 5;15. The bathroom floor was filthy with long black hair on the floor. I should have said something to the office because they were very nice, but we were there for on night. They really were very busy, but the room should have been spotless.

The 0.2 miles showed on hotels.com must be the stairway, because this hotel was right on the River Walk but around the corner from all the clubs and restaurants. So it was nice and quiet at night to sleep w/o being disturbed.

Fantastic stay! Price was great. Room was great. Very spacious with the suite layout that includes a kitchen area. Will definitely do this again.

I took my sister and niece to San Antonio for a production of "CATS" at the Majestic Theater. Our stay at the Homewood Suites was perfect for that occasion. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Even the housekeeping staff left notes on our beds each day wishing us a good day! The breakfast was wonderful and the rooms were very clean. The room we […] were in seemed to be in need of some updating where the carpet was concerned. Just worn, not dirty. The hotel got a 3 for that in an otherwise very comfortable room (the carpet was coming away from the baseboard in places). The hotel also got a rating of 4 for the area. We know San Antonio very well as we all travel there several times a year and so were not put off by the location in the downtown area. The river is literally right out the back door of the hotel, we were able to walk to the Majestic from our hotel, the trolley runs literally right in front of the hotel. Those complaining about valet cost/service need to understand that NO WHERE in downtown San Antonio can you stay at a hotel and park for free at the facility. There are parking lots where you can park cheaper, but they are not always secure and, unfortunately, San Antonio like many large cities has a problem with cars being broken into and/or stolen. If you are flying into town, you might want to consider taking a cab/shuttle to the hotel and renting a car for the day if you are going to the missions or other day trips. Save yourself car rental and valet costs. I would most definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends. In fact, my husband and I are looking at a trip to San Antonio for our anniversary and we will be staying at Homestead Suites. Continua a leggere

Staff was excellent, accommodations were excellent; pricing was great; location was great - we will be back!

15 minute walk to Convention Center, Alamo, River Center, etc. Great staff, large rooms, ample breakfast. On the Riverwalk but in a quiet section. What you save on room will buy a nice dinner somewhere. Valet parking only and expensive. Cheaper lot very close by. Would be my choice again.

The hotel room exceeded all of my expectations. The level of service provided by all staff, with whom I had contact, was professional and excellent. The location was on the River walk, close to services, entertainment and restaurants. Well worth the visit.

We had to cancel a reservation at a different hotel due to uncleansiness of the room and walked into a beautiful hotel with a nice view, clean room and easy access to the river walk. Definately will stay again.

I've stayed at other Homewood Suites and have been very satisfied. This property is in need of upgrades and basic maintenance. The toilet would inadvertantly come on and off throughout our stay. There were many nicks and paint scars throughout the room. The mattress was very soft and was the smallest Queen I've ever been in. In fact I'm almost certain […] it was a full/double because it was cramped with my 12 year old daughter sharing it. Most of the staff was good. Breakfast was terrible...powdered eggs. My stay at this hotel was the most pleasant. It was a very personal hotel with a very friendly and welcoming staff, always willing to answer any questions I had. The front desk personnel were excellent and displayed an exceptional effort to serve us. The hotel is centrally located within walking distance to the Riverwalk and other areas of interest. […] The suite was very clean and comfortable. I loved the ceiling fan in the bedroom, such a warm touch of home. I enjoyed the buffet breakfast, although not too wide a selection, the quality was good and appetizing. Nice Hotel, Clean comfortable room, Great breakfest bar.

This hotel has large, comfortable, relaxing rooms. We enjoy staying here every time we visit San Antonio. The lobby has great views of the riverwalk all along the side, places to sit and view, and comfortable seating with large screen TVs for the sport enthusiast who also likes to gaze out at the passersby from time to time. My family and I checked in on a Monday and stayed yil Friday. The staff at the hotel was nothing but first class. The women in the mornings with breakfast were great. The cleaning people were awesome too. We will always try and stay here when we come back to San Antonio. The Homewood Suites is right on the Riverwalk, but a couple of blocks from the 'Main Drag' area. Close enough to enjoy the nightlife, but quiet when we wanted it. The breakfast & manager's receptions were very nice. The bed was advertised as a queen, but was actually a full size bed. My only complaint is that the trash pickup for neighboring dumpsters […] occurred about 3:30 a.m.. Continua a leggere

This hotel is toward the end of the River Walk, but it is right on the river and is away from the noise that comes with the center of the river. It is in a nice neighborhood and is close to all of the San Antonio downtown attractions. The hotel was clean, well-kept, and the staff was friendly. I definitely recommend this hotel.

This is a great location, parking is high however you can come and go and not have to re-pay. Room was clean and spacious. Staff was very courteous. Complimentary breakfast was great, out two children loved the selection. Our 2nd time to stay here. Great location and wonderful breakfast & Happy Hour type food! Rooms are very large, and VERY clean! Only downside-- $25 to park, nightly.

The hotel was nice enough and the breakfast was good. The one main concern that I had was that there was some unsightly caulking marks on the windows and that we could hear the rooms on both sides of us. But overall the hotel was nice and suited all our needs.
