Mälardrottningen Hotel Stoccolma

Prima di prenotare avevo letto alcune recensioni che sottolineavano la scomodità delle camere. E' vero che la camera è piccola, ma è altrettanto ovvio che non ci si possa aspettare altrimenti, trattandosi di una "cabina" di uno "yacht" e non di una camera d'albergo!!! La cabina è pulita e la moquette sembra nuova. Il bagno è anch'esso piccolo, soprattutto […] il lavandino, ma è nuovissimo e pulito. Unico inconveniente che abbiamo avuto è che non arrivava l'acqua calda. Ci hanno spiegato che, essendo una barca e quindi soggetta a oscillazioni, si formano bolle d'aria nelle tubature...bisogna far scorrere l'acqua per un po' prima di farsi la doccia! Ottimo il buffet di Natale offerto agli ospiti dell'albergo ad un prezzo di favore. Suggestivo il ristorante situato sul ponte a prua! Ottima la posizione, centralissima: in pochi minuti a piedi si arriva a Gamla Stan, il centro storico della città. Concludendo lo consiglio soprattutto a coloro a cui piacciono le barche e che quindi sanno cosa aspettarsi rispetto ad un normale albergo e che possono soprattutto apprezzare l'emozione di guardare il mare dall'oblò della propria cabina e fare colazione sul ponte! Posizione comodissima e strategica per la visita della città: in due passi, davvero due, si va in centro e il metro, se serve, è anch'esso a due passi. Bello anche il panorama, dato che la nave-hotel è vicino ad una terrazza verso il mare. Abbiamo alloggiato nella "baita first officer", comoda e spaziosa, a parte il piccolo bagno. Siamo stati benissimo: […] letti comodi, ambiente silenzioso e pulito, c'era anche un tavolo con due poltroncine. Colazione varia e abbondante: davvero bello passare qualche momento, dopo colazione, nei tavolini sul ponte della nave, sopra la sala della colazione, con fantastico panorama sulla città. Dovendo poi prolungare il nostro soggiorno di due giorni a causa di un volo annullato, ci è stata assegnata una cabina più piccola: al di là delle dimensioni della stanza (molto più piccola della precedente) anche qui letti comodi (pur se a castello) e camera pulita. Il wifi ha funzionato bene e comunque presso la reception dell'hotel è disponibile un computer per navigare liberamente. La seconda camera da noi utilizzata era in effetti molto piccola ma è normale che sia così dato l'ambiente del tutto particolare. Contesto dunque affascinante, ottima posizione e personale particolarmente disponibile e gentile. Ci torneremmo sicuramente, magari possibilmente nel primo tipo di camera ma in ogni caso posizione, ambiente, pulizia, comfort dei letti e colazione abbondante meritano sicuramente, anche alloggiando in una camera più piccola. Posizione ottima, vicino alla metro. Quartiere tranquillo. Albergo molto piacevole, ben riscaldato, colazione ottima e letti comodissimi. Ci ritorneremo sicuramente!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if you like ships and cruises then you can experience a cruise in a comfortable early XX century passenger ship ...moored in downtown Stockholm The sailor cabin is a bit small but the view from the window is beautiful, just remember closing it in case of hard sea, you could find your cabin flooded!

la stanza era davvero molto piccola, il bagno nn ne parliamo, ma comunque ne vale la pena data la posizione ottima in centro città. la colazione davvero ottima! abbondante e tutto buono! se serve solo un appoggio x visitare la città, questo hotel è l'ideale

My husband and I fully enjoyed our stay on the boat! Lovely warm room, maybe a bit too warm at times! Pleasant staff with a relaxed atmosphere. Breakfast was lovely, great selection of food. Location was ideal. We would recommend this place to anyone!

Very comfortable (albeit small) rooms, in an amazingly central location. I was pleasantly surprised over the very modern, clean en-suite bathroom, extremely comfortable bed, free wireless internet, great breakfast in the morning (included)... and it's lots of fun to spend the night on a boat. Boats are charming but not always the best when it comes to the actual hotel experience. The smell of diesel and run-down boat in the entrance, had me believe for a brief moment that I had made a mistake in booking Mälardrottningen. This negative impression didn't last very long. My cabin was smaller than a reglar hotel room, but definitely large enough, […] very clean and pleasant and the bed was comfortable and tall enough for my 1,90. This hotel was comfortable and clean with excellent service and friendly, English speaking staff. The food for breakfast and dinner was also great. Try their Glogg! The only thing which might deter someone from staying here is that the rooms are very small. But they are comfortable for one person and the bedding is SO soft and warm! I booked Mälardrottningen because it was close to my meetings... I really did not have any expectations at all. Walking on board i was pleasent surprised of the enviroment that was really typical for a boat, but as functional as a big receptiondesk anywhere. The rooms where clean and nice and the bed and covers where better than anyother hotel i stayed […] at. The breakfast was just as great as the rest. So my warmest recomendation for Mälardrottningen! This is a very cozy ship lying in the harbor in the center of Stockholm. Friendly reception people. The room was a small cabin but with a very comftable bed, shower and toilet. Breakfast very good. Really value for monney

The boat is in a very central but quiet location, close to Gamla Stan with great views across the water. Even though we had a bunk bed cabin it felt spacious, but the walls are thin as we could hear the people next door. Breakfast buffet was great - plenty of tasty things to fill up with for a day of sightseeing.

great location, wonderful ambiente, nice staff, good value

3 minutes from the subway station, 5 from Gamla Stan, the hotel location is unbeatable. The cabin is very, very small, so is the single bed with a rather soft mattress. No view from the tiny porthole. All the essentials are there, all is very clean and breakfast is super nice. If you are looking for space this is not the place for you.

I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. It was everything and more of what I hoped for. the location was perfect to walk everywhere. I felt safe in the neighborhood. The restaurant had wonderful food. The breakfast was great and my room was very small but filled my needs. I would certainly stay here again on a future visit. Staying at the Mälardrottningen was a fun ( I haven't slept in a top bunk for about 50 years) expericence! Even thought the room was tiny we had a wonderful time . Loved the location and the outdoor cafe just outside the front entrance, overlooking an incredible view. We would definitely stay there again!

My smoke detector triggered from the heat of my shower. It was OK, but I found it weird that no worker on the boat asked me if I were OK.

I spent a night in this ship-hotel. The cabin-room had a water-conduit inside. From around 11pm a series of floods and flushes started to cross the conduit very loudly. I was already sleeping at that time and it was quite scary to wake up in the night for the loud sound of water flushing in a ship. The sounds didn't stop for an most than 30 minutes […] and the receptionist couldn't help. The flushes started again after 6 in the morning which made impossible to have a good night-rest. I was very disappointed and tired. The hotel completely failed to ensure its primary service: a calm night-sleep. The rreception had no official form for making complaints, only an e-mail address was given to send my complain. No reactions until now. Continua a leggere

Great location to Gamla Stan.

It's definitely worth the experience if you like a bit of an adventure. The scenery on the "port" side of the boat is fantastic and the location a short walk from Gamla Stan and Slussen is very convenient for strolling. Breakfast was a very good quality wide selection of Swedish fare. The only downside is the size of the rooms. It's a boat so rooms […] are obviously very small. It was a little uncomfortable. This hotel is actually a middle-size ship, whose cabins are refurbished to be used as guest rooms. It has a very good location for tourists for two reasons. 1: It is almost at the geographical center of stockholm, which is around 5 minutes walk to the old stockholm (where the royal palace is), 15 minutes to the famous city hall and 20 minutes to central […] station. 2: The location where the ship is parked is actually a scenic point by itself, which appears in many picture poster of stockholm (you can even find the ship itself in many posters). Right from the ship, you have a very good view to the city hall on the other side of the water. Everyday, we could see tourist bus took people to this point, taking pics and so on. The only issue about location is that, don't underestimate the winter of sweden. In particular, a 20 minutes walk in late March from the hotel to central station can still take quite of your energe, and you definitely don't want to do it frequently. The main negative side about this hotel is that the room is very very very small, especially in the bathroom. I turely doubt that whether a real big guy, say a 300 pounder, can sit on the toilet in the bathroom, as the distance from the toilet to the wall in front of it may only be 20 or 30 cm. So, basically, the room in this hotel can do the basic job, namely, letting you take a shower, have a sleep, check your e-mail (free wifi), look at the news (TV with very limited chanels), and walk around easily. But besides that, you really shouldn't expect more from it. For the food, the breakfast buffet was pretty good (included in the reservation). You have a good number of choises from egg, yogurt, bread to bacon, sausage and fruit. Of course, coffee and orange juice are also included. The last thing is that I strongly recommend the dinner buffet at the hotel resturaunt (located at the head of the ship). What a fabulous experience... this hotel is actually on board a ship! It floats in the harbour with really great views across Stockholm. The cabins are clean and comfortable and the atmosphere and ambience is excellent. The ship is 85 years old and classically built... it has class and reminds us of how they used to travel before the aeroplane. The room was very small, but you are staying in a sailors cabine. The boat is not the newest, but everything is clean. The bathroom does not look so good, but everything was working and there was no mould! The breakfast buffet was great and the staff was pleasant all the time.

Greeted by very friendly staff. Quick easy to check in. Knowledgeable. The location was very convenient as I had a conference to go to at a nearby hotel. Did not eat at the restaurant but it looked very nice although quite pricey. The Lobby area and public areas were very nice and was cosy. Used the Ironing room. Good ironing board and iron which […] for business travellers is important! I booked fairly last minute and it was one of the cheapest hotels I found that was in central Stockholm. The room I stayed in was of decent size but not super high quality. It was neat but felt like it was a bit old. Everything was clean and what you can expect from a 3 star hotel. The walls are also very thin so it's a good idea to bring ear plugs as I could hear people next door. Wifi in my room on the bottom floor was sporadic but you could get good connection from the reception. TV had Viasat Sport 1 channel and Champions League football was on the TV the night I was there which was very nice. A very short walk to Gamla stan (the Old Town) so location was great. Great views from the hotel as well. If you need a bed to sleep on, want to be quite central and don't have too high hopes on the room I'd definitely recommend this hotel to others. The hotel is very easy to get to from Arlanda, being just a stone's throw away from Gamla Stan metro station. It's comfortable, in a very picturesque area of the city (save the building site next door, which will disappear by autumn 2011). The staff are friendly and helpful, and the food is delicious. My daughter and I stayed here in Stockholm on a short visit. We walked from the train station in about 10 minutes and the check-in process took only seconds. The room was very small, but since we used it only for sleeping, it was all that we needed. The bunk beds were comfortable, and we had a lovely view of the City Hall tower. It was fun to be sleeping […] on the water. The yacht is very close to Gamla Stan, the old town, with its narrow lanes and touristy shops, and there was easy access to the palace, parliament and ferries or bridges to the rest of Stockholm. The included breakfast was excellent. We would stay there again -- good accommodations at an affordable price (in a very expensive city). Continua a leggere

Excellent location, very good ratio quality/price, considering the high level of prices in the centre of Stockholm, but I must say that I took advantage of a special offer. I was in a sailor's cabin, so, if you choose this type of accomodation, don't expect extra comfort: room is extremely small, but has shower and basin, and for a single traveller […] it's more than enough. First of all, the location of the "hotel" is awesome. It's on a small island full of beautiful old mansions and it's right next to Gamla Stan (Old Town) -- about a three minute walk from the Gamla Stan Metro Stop. My room was absurdly small though, and the bed was tiny (but the room, and the hotel, were very clean). It rained during the third night […] of my stay and the next morning I discovered that there was a leak in the ceiling that completely drenched part of my room. The hotel staff were very responsive to this (and in general were very friendly and helpful) and assigned me to a new (and much bigger) room within minutes. Hotels in Stockholm are always very expensive, but this one just wasn't worth the price. The novelty of staying on a ship did not make up for the cost. If I had paid hostel prices for the room, I would give a more favorable room, but as it is, I would avoid this hotel unless you are able to get a great deal. Continua a leggere

The hotel is just off Gamla Stan - the old city. The location cannot be faulted - just a couple of minutes walk from the best bit of Stockholm. Many good restaurants and lovely streets for sighteseeing. An easy walk to other areas too - the City Hall and bost trip departures for example. The hotel was good value on the special offer that we had. The […] basic cabins are as they say - basic. We had the Chart Room which was lovely - spacious and attractive. The views over the water are excellent. The hotel is very small with all you need as a base for sightseeing, but no extras and certainly not plush.
