I booked what was the smallest room at the River Hotel, that came at a very good price for Chicago's standards. Lean and straightforward hotel, fantastic location - free wifi and chilled water. It was small by american standards, but not for European or Japanese standards. Highly recommended hotel -

"Hotel Holiday Inn O'Hare di Chicago"
Si tratta di una soluzione molto comoda per chi resta in città pochi giorni e prevalentemente per lavoro: l'hotel si trova infatti vicino all'aeroporto, effettua servizio di navetta gratuita da/per l'aeroporto 24h/24h, ha la connessione internet gratuita in tutte le stanze, parcheggio gratuito, ecc. Se invece siete diretti a Chicago per motivi turistici, […] sappiate che l'hotel è piuttosto lontano dal centro. Tuttavia, si trova in prossimità della Blu Line (3 minuti a piedi), che in 35 minuti vi porta nel Loop e vi collega con tutte le altre linee di trasporto pubblico della città. Il rapporto qualità/prezzo è abbastanza equilibrato tenendo conto dei prezzi medi degli hotel in città. Alcune stanze sono un po' fatiscenti, altre migliori. Ovunque trovate la moquette, non proprio il massimo se avete allergie agli acari o alla polvere. Il buffet della colazione è un po' ripetitivo e non particolarmente ricco (se scegliete la colazione compresa nel prezzo, altrimenti è alla carta), così come il menù per la cena. Continua a leggere

"Good Hotel"
The Holiday Inn is located very close to the blue line, which is a 30ish minute ride into downtown Chicago. The blue line is open 24hrs which is great if you're going to be out late. The room was clean, on site restaurant was good, the staff were ok but could have been more helpful. I would stay again.
"Holiday inn, Cumberland"
Not a friendly staff. Room needs updating. Have to cross a major intersection to get to the train. Buffett breakfast not stocked well. Waitress never came back to check on us and we could of used more coffe. There was cereal but no milk, plates were dirty. Not going there again.
"1st visit good, 2nd time not so much"
this was my second time staying here for a business trip. the location near the airport is what made me choose this hotel in the first place. when i stayed last year everything was great. i would have recommended it to anyone. however this time i was disappointed. the shuttle bus from the airport never arrived to bring me to the hotel, or if it did, […] it was over an hour late and i had to get another ride in order to make it to my work on time. the room was not clean -- there was hair in the bathrroom. maybe i did not notice this the first time, but there were not many channels on the tv. overall, i did not feel as comfortable there as i did on my first stay. since i go to chicago a lot for work, i will probably try a different hotel next time. "Dont stay here"
Unnecessarily expensive and average quality for a "great" room. Later recieved a $50 charge after my stay that I was not informed of. Still disputing this ridiculous charge

"Business Traveler"
The renovations to the bar and restaurant are fantastic over what it used to be. The additions and changes to the personnel working in the hotel everywhere were a big improvement. I have stayed here numerous times before. It appears they are still getting around to the actual room details and upgrades that need to be done. I did not get my queen size […] bed that I booked instead I got 2 full sized beds. Not very comfortable and my toilet leaked. But the staff was very attentive and very kind. Continua a leggere
"Very nice hotel."
Perfect location, wonderful staff. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Only odd thing was, because we joined your 'club' we were supposed to be upgraded to a suite. We were not. We 'spun the wheel' as new members and landed on 'upgrade room' and were told we were already upgraded. We were not.

"Reasonable"
Reasonable is the one word that I would use to describe this hotel. It isn't fancy, it isn't five starts, it is simply a reasonable place to stay at a reasonable price near O'Hare and about 40mins from downtown Chicago (due to traffic)
"Holiday Inn O'Hare not good"
My wife and I stayed there one night and that was long enough. When we arrived at the hotel, granted early for check in (2:00pm) we were greeted by an un-welcoming front desk person telling us to come back later, when we were finally checked in they gave us a room where the toilet did not work, wind blowing thru the air conditioner making it very noisey […] in the room, and black flies around the window, when we requested a room change, there was a new person at the front desk, he did not apologies/nothing, for the poor room, (as if he did not care) gave us a new room, but we had to ask what the room number was as he just gave me new key cards. This room was better but need a major renovation. At check out, the staff did not ask about our stay. The one positive about this hotel, the restaurant/bar in the hotel was excellent, the food and staff were excellent and they saved our stay. The location is very close to the blue line but there are other hotels within a block or two. I wish we would have stayed there! Continua a leggere

"The Holiday Inn O'Hare-so convenient and comfortab"
We were pleasantly surprised to find that this hotel near O' Hare was just as good as staying downtown and at half the price! We could jump on the Blue Line train which runs 24/7 and be downtown in minutes. We also took buses right off the Blue Line rail and it was so convenient, easy and inexpensive. The staff was great and the people of Chicago are […] all so friendly and helpful. We had a lovely suite at the hotel that made us feel like we were staying at Trumps. Very nice, indeed! "OK"
Hotel is fine. Room was missing tissue box and wash clothes. Sink was very slow to drain. Not a big deal. However, the roll-away for my teenage daughter was horrible. No padding. Just springs. She did not sleep at all.

Hotel was easy to find. The bar in lobby was loud but could not be heard from room upstairs. Staff was friendly and I would stay there again.

"Holiday Inn O'Hare-you don't have to rent a car!"
Our stay at the Holiday Inn O'Hare was very satisfying. It was our first extended trip without a car, or without renting a car. And, everything was great! The Blue Line is a 10 minute walk, and we had purchased a 3-day CTA card, so we didn't need any cash for any other trains. And, the walk back to the hotel at night is very well lit, and we felt pretty […] safe coming back as late as midnight. Our room was comfortable, air conditioning was fine. The staff was very helpful, and the shuttle was a blessing in disguise. The shuttle even took us to the Ram Brewery, a very nice restaurant a few miles from the hotel. And, the Bar Louie was fantastic! It is now open 24 hours, the opening weekend was when we were there, and the bands and music were a lot of fun. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone coming into O'Hare, and especially if you do not want to rent a car. Continua a leggere

"Holiday Inn Ohare"
Ok, the first night there, i request a crib at check-in, 30 minutes later we had to call the desk for it again. Ac unit not working and Shower not working. Reported it to the desk. Next afternoon we return to the hotel shower fixed, still no air. Finally they replace unit. No one ever offered apologies, free breakfast for our troubles, nothing. Well […] we get home and there is a $50 charge ran through on our card that we knew nothing of. My in-laws were in the room next to us, they had nothing ran through on thier card. My wife calls, "oh yeah, that will fall off in 7 days". My wife voices her displeasure and she gets tranfered to a manger, guess what , voicemail. Needless to say we will not be staying there again and we frequent Chicago. Continua a leggere

"Horrible in every single way"
Noisy, outdated, dirty, uncomfortable and expensive. This place is right next to the highway; the old windows and wall A/C unit make you fell like you're sleeping under the highway. 1st room the gave us was dirty and we changed it for another one; the door locking system failed for the second one, master key did not work and with no serviceman available, […] we were locked out, we ended up sleeping in a different room (my fiancee had to throw away her contacts, we had no tooth brush, clothes..nothing). 4th room we were given the next day and in was on the VIP floor where the only thing that is different was the carpet, very funny :)). Front desk staff tried their best to save the embarrassment but this place is just HORRIBLE, I wouldn't never stay there again!!! Continua a leggere

Entering lobby, realized hotel was not up to date. Room on second floor and the hallway was too dark with dark wood and carpeting. Other negative was the lack of attentiveness when I stopped at the bar before going to my room that evening. And no Sauvignon Blanc available. AND THE PLUS SIDE of my stay. Excellent mattress and pillow. A good night's rest. […] Clean room and especially the bathroom, which is very important. Good shower head which is somewhat rare in hotels these days. "Good and Bad, but in the end all was well."
OK ... first the good. This hotel seemed fairly well maintained, and I was thrilled that it was within a very short walk to the Blue line train station. Reported to be about 500 feet ... but ... perhaps a bit more by the time you made turns through the bus station to get to the "L" ... but considering that nearly every other reasonably priced Hotel […] in the Chicago area that I found was miles walk from the nearest train station this was a definite plus. The room we ended up with was spacious and very comfortable with a King bed and the entire hotel was non-smoking ... another big plus. Now ... the downside, when we checked in the desk clerk looked and acted frazzled and unprepared. I had booked a King room weeks in advance, but at check-in was told a single Queen was the only thing available but that they may be able to move me to a king the next day. When we checked into our room, the room was smaller than I expected and no where near a queen size bed. It was a "Full" size bed at best ... the two of us (normal sized adults) would have been cramped for sure. I'd called down to the desk and asked to speak to a manager about the problem. The manager was VERY responsive and changed our room immediately to the King size room we eventually stayed in (not sure why we didn't get that room when I first checked in) and even personally ran the key up to me and apologized for the problem. This manager, Derek I think?? was the shining star of the place. Responsive and dedicated and made what started out as a not very good experience into one that I could give 3.5 - 4 stars. All in all, I think this is a decent place, and a good value for the money and everything ended on a high note ... but it wasn't without a few glitches and phone calls to get to a decent result. All and all I can recommend the place, but just be prepared to possibly have a challenge or two. Continua a leggere

"Holiday Inn O'Hare"
The hotel itself was pretty nice, but be careful about what you request in a room. We asked for a room with a king bed and a pullout, and were told that's what we would get, but when we got there, they said they had no such room.
"great hotel, convenient location"
We were very impressed with the hotel. The rooms were very nice and comfortable and the restaraunt in the lobby was great. The location was very convenient with an L train station across the street and the hotel was very easy to find and get in and out of.
