La posizione del ristorante/bar sulla terrazza è spettacolare, specialmente di notte quando si vedono i monumenti (Tempio di Zeus, Partenone) illuminati. Very convenient location. Hotel staff excellent. Beds, pillows comfortable. great view from rooftop of acropolis and temple of Zeus. Free computer lounge to stay connected. Honestly, stay here.

Overall very good. Close to Acropolis within walking distance. Avold the breakfast 25 Euro's much cheaper in a cafe round the corner from the hotel !

Overall a good hotel. Restaurant prices very expensive and not related to the quality of the food.

Hotel room is big as according to Europe Standard. Start my stay with a welcome champange & local almond nut and reception staff was professional Near to the Zeus Temple and Acropolis. Their train station is a main street away from the hotel.

The hotel is in very good location near to Acropolis, Plaka, Parthenon and in very good neigbourhood.

The quality of the room was very poor with no kettle/tea/coffee. We had to ask the concierge to put extra shampoo/bath gel. The bar was over-priced and lack of variety at breakfast. Definitely not a 5 star hotel and more like 3.

A great place to spend your holiday,centrally located with every thing you need. Very friendly and helpful staff. 2 mins from Acropoli station and 10 mins to Gazi area. Great service and great hotel just over rides the overly priced resturant.

We were upgraded to a room with a panoramic view. Simply breathtaking. The decor is perfect, the service impeccable. Ok, the breakfast buffet was mediocre (but included) and the breakfast staff not that attentive. But the view from the rooftop restaurant was compensation enough. The location of this hotel is the best. Within walking distance of virtually everything you want to see. The lobby looks 5 star, but beyond that, it is at best a 3 star. Even by European standards the room was tiny. There were virtually no amenities with this room. Service was lacking. Had to call for extra toilet paper. Had to call twice for extra […] towels. What a wonderful hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and felt like kings and queens. Beautiful hotel, beautiful rooms, bathrooms are amazing. Staff are wonderful and went overboard to help us with everything. Great breakfast. Centrally situated. Easy walk to Acropolis. Everything was WONDERFUL. I wish I could live there !!!!!

The hotel is in very good position,the rooms very nice,the baathrom a little small.The rooms oriented to the town have nice balcony,the only problem is the noise from the street.

Across the street from the park containing The Temple of Zeus and Hadrian's Arch, a very short walk from the Acropolis Museum and the Acropolis itself, this hotel is ideally located for a tourist wanting to take in the sights. Public transit is conveniently available with access at the Acropolis Metro stop. This was a godsend during the taxi strike […] of July-August 2011. I stayed in an "Executive" single which was comfortable, quiet, and nicely air-conditioned by a central unit effectively controlled from the room. One caveat is that this room was served by a different elevator system than others and the elevator had conventional hinged doors rather than automatic doors. This made it rather awkward to trundle luggage up to the room. I had opted for breakfast with the room and was very happy with this choice since the hotel provided an excellent breakfast buffet including eg freshly squeezed orange juice. You will want to check out the roof top restaurant and bar which offers a stunning view of the Acropolis and the monuments across the street beautifully lit up at night. The restaurant is expensive and the choices are somewhat baffling but I settled on a entree of beef tenderloin which was tender, generously sized, and served cooked to specification albeit somewhat salty. That entree cost 48 Euros which may serve as an indication of the cost of dining there. This and a hotel in Istanbul at the other end of my cruise were my first experiences booking with Hotels.com and I must say I was delighted with the experience. Continua a leggere

Excellent locaton for visiting the Acropolis and fanastic view from the 7th floor (but very expensive ) restaurant especially at night.

The Plaka tourist area, the New Acropolis Museum and other landmarks are all very close to this hotel. It was also very easy to book tours through the reception desk. Unfortunately the hotel restaurant was closed for private functions several nights that we were there. However, it was worth waiting to get a table! Apart from the hotel being very good value for money it has the most helpful, friendly and knowledgeable doorman in the world.

If you want 5 star - do not stay here! We extended our stay in Athens & our other hotel did not have a room & we booked this hotel for the extra night. Advertised as 5 star but not. Shower of bath (old plastic) with SHOWER CURTAIN. Desperate need of revamp. Booked Queen Bed & there was 3 single beds!

While the reception area/ foyer is extremely impressive and sparklingly clean, my bedroom had a bathroom which remained smelly during my stay and consequently made the room generally unpleasent. The breakfast buffet choice is limited and of low quality compared to other hotels in this price-range and the breakfast-room's staff focus apears only to be […] on whether or not customers had included to pay for breakfast in their reservation! The overnight rate for the hotel room was fabulous, but don't let that fool you. The restaurant had a marvelous view of the Acropolis at night, but for the service and portions, I would not recommend dining there. Very expensive...very, very.

Larger than you might think from the outside. Fro the outside it looks like it could be a five star. The lobby looks equally nice and even the ground level pool is "nice", although its decor is dated. A very strong point is the roof top restaurant, with one setback: Pricing for North American five star standards is about 20% too high. Relatively speaking […] meals are at least 30% above other Athenean restaurants "in this class". But the rooftop of the Roya Olympic has a grand view of the Acropolis and the temple of Zeus. We came to see the main classic Greek monuments, had a great time in Athens and the proximity of the Royal Olympic to the Acropolis helps. Reception desk service is truly five star. We interfaced with four different staff members and each was courteous, professional, ready to meet needs and to provide high level service. Internet (WI-FI) is good and was included in our room rate. Breakfast: The buffet is ample and offers what you would expect, except for freshly cooked eggs or freshly cooked omelet (as so often is available in modern American hotel chains of 4 and 5 stars). Where the Royal Olympic has its weak spots is in the area of being "dated" (needing modernization or not up to date as a five star hotel as of 2011): 1. The elevators are tiny and slow. 2. The rooms (at least our room in the older part of the hotel) are small. Carpets and decor are defenitely dated. This is not 5 star level! 3. Beds are OK (not better than OK) and not with top notch modern matrasses or pillows. Old fashoned blankets. 4. The small LCD screen in room is just ok for the small room size. 5. The bathroom is dated and no more than a 2 to 3 star. New faucetts to set constant temperature levels (not heating up the shower when the neighbor flushes his toilet) are a minimum. In short: OK if the price is not too high for what you get (from that perspective we were OK), but do not expect 5 star accomodation. Blow dryer was not that great. Air conditioner was not working, but the weather was nice so I opened the balcony door at night. They didn't provide iron, so we had to pay to get our clothes done. The hotel itself is great, but that's where it ends. Customer service is everything, particularly at a 5 star hotel, and they have a lot to learn. I don't normally write reviews, but this experience was disappointing enough that I felt I should take the time to do so. We made arrangements in Oct 2010 to travel to Athens and stay at the Royal Olympic […] for New Years. Outside of hotels.com, we booked a New Years dinner with the hotel at a rate of 180 Euro per person. Yes, it was expensive, but we figured we could splurge and it would be worth it. Long before arriving, we requested that one of the meals be vegetarian. They said it wouldn't be a problem. When we checked in, I reminded them of it at the desk. Later in the day on the 31st, I called the restaurant and spoke with the manager to make sure the information had been relayed and was told everything would be fine. We arrived in the restaurant and the staff and chef were shocked to learn about the vegetarian meal. They had to come up with a menu on the spot and what they served, by a normal standard, was embarrassingly pathetic. They didn't even have what they needed, so they left out an entire course altogether. And when it came down to it, thy blamed us as if we had failed to inform them. I complained to the hotel shortly thereafter and didn't hear back for almost a week. When I finally did, the hotel's Sales Manager offered a lame excuse and promised to look into what happened. I haven't heard back and it has been almost a month. Yes, it's just a dinner and the hotel itself is nice. But the way they treat a customer says a lot about how they value business and the service they provide. When it comes down to it, why waste so much money on a local hotel with poor service when there are so many other options at hotels that always aim to meet or exceed a high standard? Very well maintained hotel, close to Acropolis. Very helpful staff at the door and registration desk. The hotel has a restaurant on the top floor. Though the restaurant is pricey it has magnificent views of the Temple of Zeus and Akropolis. It is also within walking distance to nice restaurants on the Plaka district. The hotel was near the Acropolis and very convenient to most major sites. The only negative thing if I must say, was the neighborhood at night was a bit shady. Perhaps, the climate (HIGH ALERT) time was reason for so much police vigilance and constant sirens!

If you are looking for a real 5 Star Hotel, The Royal Olympic is not it. The prices are really good, which should have been the sign, you get what you pay for. There is no concierge and the front desk staff are not as friendly or helpful as they should be for a 5 star hotel. The hotel lobby is beautiful but the rooms are in need of a serious update, […] along with the bedding. I would not recommend this hotel if you are expecting 5 star service. Excellent hotel. Great rooms, pool and facilities. The roof bar and restaurant has views to die for both by day and by night. We would definately stay there agin when we next visit Athens. Close to metro, Acroplois and city sights and a close taxi or metro ride to Pireaus. Well done Royal Hotel Olympic

Beautiful, romantic, paradise!

Royal Olympic Hotel in Athens was excellent in terms of location (close to everything), luxury, cleanliness, attentiveness from staff, comfortable room, great breskfast buffet. The view from the rooftop is breathtaking! Great seection in Athens!

Stayed one night at the Royal Olympic September 11, 2010. Awesome hotel. Beautiful, clean and great location. Overall, a great value for the money. Make sure you visit the rooftop restaurant/bar. The nighttime views are spectacular.

We stayed here 2 non-consecutive nights to bookend our trip to Greece. The first time we checked in, the front desk clerk was a little abrupt. We indicated in our reservation a room on a high floor, away from the elevator and got a room on the first floor, right next to the elevator. The second time we got a room on the 3rd floor. The room itself was […] very nice. We had a nice dinner at their roof garden restaurant, which has a great view of the Acropolis. The food was good. The immediate surrounding neighborhood seemed a little sketchy, but it was easy to reach all the sites from this location and close to the subway. My one complaint is that the pool closed at 6:00pm. I was pleasantly, surprised about the hotel, as I was traveling alone. The staff were excellent and all very friendly and professional. I thoroughly enjoyed my two night stay at the Royal Olympic in Athens. I would definitely stay there again and I have highly recommended the hotel to people on my vacation on my cruise to Turkey and Greek Islands and […] to all I know in Canada. The Royal Olympic Hotel is within walking distance to many of Athen's sights and only a short metro or taxi ride to others. Great place to stay - only negative is that breakfast was not included in our price and there wasn't an inexpensive place to eat in the hotel although, again, there are many inexpensive cafes nearby. We booked this hotel for the start of a family vacation before boarding a med cruise. When we booked we were very delighted by the photos of the rooms, the hotel and its location. However, upon arrival, the staff are not friendly at all, and do the minimum they have too. They don't even greet you with a "hello, how are you?" You would expect a little […] common courtesy for a 5 star hotel. When we had a problem with the TV, they were borderline rude when we called back after 30 minutes as we hadn't heard back from the desk as they said they'd call back. The executive rooms, look NOTHING like the photos. These rooms are clean, a little on the small side, but haven't been redecorated since the 1970's. The breakfast was very nice, however, the staff continued to be unfriendly here as well. We thought well maybe that's just the way it is in Greece, but we went to dinner at another hotel across the street and the front desk staff and restaurant staff where in a different league, and that was only a 4 star hotel. So, there is a major problem with the management at the Royal Olympic. Maybe that's why we were able to book a "5 star" hotel for that rate. They didn't even have a concierge. If I had to rate the hotel I'd do so as follows: Hotel Lobby: 5 stars Location: 5 Stars Staff: 2 Stars Rooms: 3 Stars I would never stay at this hotel can as there are plenty of other hotels in the price range, hopefully with nicer rooms and service. Definitely a five star hotel. Try to get a hotel room facing the Temple of Olympic Zeus. The view is incredible and you get to have breakfast in the morning on the top floor.
