As usual, the Athenee staff nailed every detail.

Great place to stay. Room was perfect, shower was amazing, instant hot water. I could sleep at night, no noise. Darling little bar and restaurant. Great bar tender, helpful staff. also room service was on time and very good food. Perfect place to stay and highly recommend it! The internet fee was a little high

Wonderful hotel with great staff and lovely rooms. Ideal East Side location and fantastic restaurant. Will definitely stay again.

Old facility needs updating

Hotel is wonderful in every imaginable way - excellent service and room comfort as you would expect from a 5 star hotel. I am picky, so here are my only concerns: - Charging for internet. Already paying a lot for room, cannot believe this is not included in this day and age. seems petty to "nickle and dime" guests - Lobby: While it tries to be "grand" […] i think it just looks old. - Room Service: Surprisingly limited menu, but fantastic food and delivered in 20 min on both nights. The Hotel is very cute, clean and has a good service. The location was perfect for us ..

The hotel is riding an old good reputation wave. Everything was a let down. The lobby needs renovation. Thebroom service operator needs a crash course pleasant interactions. Thenroom a/c control is from another age.... The only thing thatnwas kept up are the room rates!

Loved everything - Great location, great service Great Bed, but coffee in the room would be a HUGE improvement . As simple as it sounds I do not like having to go to the restaurant to get my morning coffee .

Due to weather-related flight delays, I arrived well after midnight. I had called ahead to let them know. At check in, the staff thanked me for keeping them apprised of my delays. They had filled all the rooms in my request-range and upgraded me to a beautiful suite. They could not have been more pleasant or professional. A wonderful hotel.

For us, it is the barometer by which all other hotels are measured.

Everything was perfect! The hotel is very nice and clean. Perfect location. The service was excellent!

We arrived at noon and were not only able to get into our room, but upgraded to a beautiful larger king room. Gorgeous hotel, perfect service, so quiet at night, excellent beds, spacious bath. Great little bar for drinks. Concierge had a great reco for dinner. Our neighbors, despite the no smoking room, decided to smoke and it filled the floor. The […] hotel handled it beautifully, bringing up an ionizer an deodorizing the hall at midnight. The location was perfect for theater, shopping, and dining. We will definately be back!! 5* Arguably the best uptown block in Manhattan. A classic.

This is a type of hotel that has fallen out of style - old world, refined, European in feel. The rooms aren't done in glass and greys; there is nothing more modern than a flat screen TV and internet access. It made for a refreshing and, yes, gracious change. The service was understated; impeccable yet friendly. It's not flashy, but neither is it snotty. […] The Plaza Athenee feels like a hotel for assignations, Dukes, low key polo players. I don't quite know how many of those exist in the world, but I'm betting they stay - or have stayed - here. That said, they probably had a better room than we did. Ours was decorated beautifully, with more closets than we have at home, but it was dark. Our one large window afforded us a fabulous view of air conditioning vents and the back of other brick buildings. It made the room claustrophobic and no amount of turn-down service could eradicate it or the feeling that if we had paid more, we would have gotten a better room. This was my first time staying at the NY Plaza Athenee. And, my experience was wonderful. It felt like it was my home away from home. I stayed in a renovated room -- which I understand does make a difference at the hotel. The room was spacious for a New York hotel, elegant and so very comfortable. The Plaza Athenee is a beautiful hotel perfectly located in Manhattan. Our room was lovely, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. We didn't want to spend money on their very pricey breakfast, and the staff directed us to two great nearby neighborhood restaurants which were quite reasonable. The summer special rate (three nights for the price […] of two) is a terrific deal. We will definitely stay there again, but maybe only in the summer when we can get the special rate. The front desk felt like they were cast from Jersey Shore rejects. The dorrmen were always outside smoking cigarettes and chatting about their respective nights. They were anywhere but near the door. The bellman had an attitude when asked to bring the bags down. The first room was so noisy at night that I had to change rooms and the second room was […] worse than the first. Having stayed at many of the leading hotel's in NY over the years, my first stay at the Plaza Athenee was a very pleasant surprise. The front desk, concierge, bell men and housekeeping staff were all excellent and extremely helpful. The bar and bar staff are exceptional. A great place to stay! Close to Central Park, accessible for shopping & reasonable distance to Broadway. Staff were helpful. Our room was next to some building works - so a little noisy the first morning, but apart from that - no problems.

The position of the hotel is excellent and the staff are discrete, available and courteous. Rooms are comfortable and well appointed. Lovely hotel and would go back.

I booked this room through hotels.com so saved close to $800 on my five-day stay. The location is perfect, the lobby and hallways beautiful, the service excellent, the linens delicious, and no bedbugs! The doors are set to close very slowly so that the slamming doors of other guests don't intrude. However, given the high price of this hotel, the decor, […] while nice, should have been better. The carpet was coming up against the walls, pictures hung crookedly, you had to get out of bed to answer the telephone, and the water pressure in the shower was nearly non-existent. There were two closets but the only drawer space was two night tables; there was also no fridge in which to store food if you wanted, say, to bring home a yogurt and have it for breakfast, nor was there a coffeemaker, which I think ghastly in a hotel of this price and caliber. The hotel breakfasts were absurdly expensive even by New York standards. However, despite these quibbles, I enjoyed my stay, slept like a baby, and enjoined its superb location. Continua a leggere

my wife and I stayed at the Plaza Athenee in New york earlier this week and it was a very positive experience.We had a spacious ,quiet and well appointed room and the staff were uniformly helpful and friendly. This is by New York standards a small and friendly hotel which justifies its five star rating and offered us reasonable rates.

King room was a bit smaller than expected but bright and clean. On arrival room not ready until 4:00 pm. Front desk staff was pleasant and helpful. Doorman was superlative. Room service prices were ridiculous. Stay but eat out.

This is truly a beautiful hotel, well-appointed rooms, top-rate service, comfortable in all respects -- and in a convenient upper East side location on a quiet side street. No complaints. It's not inexpensive and my only caution is that if you get a good deal on the price, you may get a room on one of the lower floors where the banquet rooms, health […] facilities, etc. are located. SMALL AND PERSONAL GREAT LOCATION FOR SHOPPING UPTOWN AND MUSEUMS QUIET ROOM...NO HALLWAY NOISE

We stayed for our 25th and the Hotel was awesome! They accomodated our every ask, and went above and beyond.

My wife and I love the Hotel Plaza Athenee. We have enjoyed they're gracious staff and outstanding accomandations on several occasions. We always prefer this Hotel, and the great restaurants in this neighborhood.

Great hotel and wonderful service. The original room was too small for a roll away bed, so we had to upgrade. But the staff was very helpful.

I read all the previous reviews of Plaza Athenee before booking and they were pretty much on target. Staying at a nice hotel in NYC is expensive, and often you get a small room and cold, "modern" decor. This was not the case at the Plaza Athenee. The staff were very attentive and warm - we felt very welcomed. The room's furnishings were very high-end […] and very, very comfortable. It was the kind of room in which you're happy hanging out if the weather's bad. There were some small issues with mechanical things. The TV's picture wasn't perfect, the shower curtain leaked if you weren't careful, the lighting in the bathroom wasn't great for putting on make-up (my wife told me). But these really were minor problems in the context of a great stay. I'd highly recommend the hotel, especially if you want to stay on the upper east side. Continua a leggere

Spectacular place. Spectacular service. Incredible Upper East Side location. Expensive? Sure. It is a beautiful place in one of the most spectacular locations in Manhattan. And it wasn't THAT expensive compared to some of the other hotels within a block or two. Highly recommend. Also, the restaurant: wow. BY FAR the meal at the Hotel Plaza Athenee was the finest we enjoyed in Manhattan this trip. Extraordinary. Ask for the Pear Sorbet.
