Mi sono fidato delle recensioni prima di scegliere questo hotel e devo dire che non sono rimasto deluso. La posizione è veramente ottima, vicino ad un grande centro commerciale all'aperto con vari negozi e ristoranti. L'atmosfera non è quella tipica dei grandi alberghi, ma più vicina a quella di un residence. Elevata la pulizia. Il servizio manutenzione, che abbiamo dovuto chiamare per un piccolo problema con il condizionatore, è rapido ed efficiente. Molto gradito il parcheggio gratis. Un po' scarsi i prodotti trovati nel bagno: abbiamo dovuto far richiesta dello shampoo.

Che bello! bed e breakfast veramente accogliente. Ambiente caldo e molto rilassante. Padroni di casa molto discreti ma disponibili e gentili. Park gratuito a un minuto. Colazione abbondante, snack e frutta a disposzione durante il giorno. Ottima biancheria da letto e da bagno. La camera Laguna beach è un pò piccola con letto queen,ma noi siamo stati benissimo. E' un bel quartiere ma decentrato meglio l'auto.

Molto gentili, camere un pò spartane ma pulite e spaziose. Colazione al piano terra ma "in piedi" o ai tavoli fuori se il tempo è ok. Park gratuito a due passi. Vicinissimo al Kodak . Buon rapporto qualità prezzo. Tornerei sicuramente

bellissimo hotel, confortevole, silenzioso, stanze ampie e pulite. Buona la cucina del ristorante, per la posizione è più adatto a chi si reca a LA per lavoro...

"Flea Bitten Dive"
I knew what to expect as I had read a lot of other reviews but I $ was tight and I needed to stay downtown for an important meeting and the location was a few blocks away. This place is old, not very well taken care of and dirty. The pillows in my room under the covers had hair from a previous guest on them as did some of my "clean" towels. I actually […] slept in my sleeping bag and with my own pillow (on top of a towel I brought) because I wasn't willing to investigate the bed further. Although the bathroom seemed to be clean, the shower barely had luke warm water when I used it and the shower products were seriously lacking in size (they give you only 2 tiny bars of soap and 2 packets of shampoo/conditioner.) The good news: There are 2 parking lots next to the "hotel" that were incredibly affordable (I spent 8 dollars for two days). There is a bar adjacent to the lobby that had a neighborhood feel and was even offering some live music when I arrived on Saturday evening. Seemed fun though I didn't go in. The location is perfect if you need to be in the downtown area. They've really cleaned it up down here and it's obvious they're desperately trying to create Times Square West with recent developments like ESPN building, giant AMC Theater, etc. next to Staples Center and the Convention Center. There are a lot of good, smaller restaurants in the area and even a large Ralph's for grocery needs down the street. Bottom line - the Stillwell is good on price considering the locale but in this instance you get what you pay for. I think you get better bang for your buck with a chain type ala Best Western, etc. It might mean a bit of a journey to get to this area but at least you've have clean sheets & towels. My expectations were low to begin with but I do expect minimal cleanliness when staying anywhere and this place failed miserably in that department. If not for that & the hot water issue I'd have given it 3 stars but as it is it gets 1 from me. Continua a leggere
This was NOT the advertised hotel that is pictured on Hotels.com. The environment felt more like your we're in a motel-where you can have a "fling" with a person and that's it. It was especially funny to see signs up that said "No guests allowed in rooms unless they are social services or disabled guides." How are you gonna place signs up like that […] and you have two bars as soon as you walk in downstairs? I DO NOT recommend this hotel/motel at all as it completely is NOT represented well on hotels.com. I strongly encourage hotels.com to visit this location as if they are promoting quality establishments, this is not one. Continua a leggere
"Stillwell Downtown LA"
Great location in Downtown LA, a little tired but clean room, bed and bathroom. Lots of hot water and friendly helpful staff. Wifi worked well too. Felt completely safe here. It may not be the Marriot, but if like me, you resent paying silly money for a clean place to sleep and shower, this is fine. Would stay there again.
Hotel staff was excellent. Hotel needed a lot of updating. Location was ok.

"It was fine"
Not a 5 start hotel (or 4 or 3), but it was fine for a single guy on a business trip who was just sleeping there. I probably wouldn't take my kids there, but it did the job. Just a really old hotel. 10 minute walk to the convention center.

"Hotel Stillwell downtown LA - only extreme budget"
Stayed Oct. 2011 for walking distance to convention center. Very low room price but you get what you pay for: noisy AC, constant dripping noise from AC of floor above, lowest grades shampoo and soap, loud bar open to lobby, smelly side of indian restaurant open to lobby, colorful types of people walking around, really bad WiFi. But hey - the reception […] were informal and very helpful in everything, UG restaurant for breakfast is authentic and convenient, room was generally clean. Continua a leggere

"Caliph's House"
I was reading The Califph's House on the single night I stayed of my 5 night reservation. Stillwell felt like I was in the slums of Casablanca - at least I saved the air fare to acheive the ambiance
"The Stillwell- an okay stay"
The Stillwell was an okay stay for the price. We came in exhausted after a big concert and the person who checked us in was friendly and helpful. The shower was dirty (used soap and other people's hair), there was grafitti in the stairwell/elevator, and it smelled like smoke. Otherwise it was quiet, the rooms were small but we got 2 for the price of […] 1, and the beds were clean and comfortable. "knock it down"
i travel 4 days per week and stay in many parts of the state. many out of state. this place should have knocked down years ago and the very expensive land space deserves a new building. in fact haveing already paid for the roon and having checked in , i made several call to other local hotels to find alternative accomodation. the money that i paid was […] my loss and dont care. i just would encourage the internet site to do a more vigarouse job af listing places with a better discription. i have learned my lesson and i may never use this site to book new hotels again. "Stillwell Hotel... Good only for going out"
The hotel served its purpose at a minimal level. It gave us a place to sleep and stay, which was pretty close to the Convention Center. The hotel itself... isn't that great. On the outside it looks rundown and on the inside it smells like cheap soap. The rooms themselves... They were pretty spacious, I was surprised. However, our TV was broken so we […] weren't able to relax for long periods of time before we got bored to death. Another downside to the whole joint... our bathroom door and our actual door to enter the room was broken... There wasn't a key needed to open the door... and the bathroom door just wouldn't ever close. On the upside... at least our AC worked. Other then that I give this place a bad rating. Upon arriving we went to the room came right back out and left for another hotel! This hotel is nasty and I wouldnt recommend it to ANYONE!!!! Trust me when I say DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!! P.S. Hotels.com you shouldnt even offer this on your site!

This hotel is not clean at all, the sheets in teh room where like burlap sacks and full of something that caused an alergic attack. I would not recomend this hotel.

I don't know what kind of hotel these other reviewers have been going to, but it is not the same hotel I've actually stayed at. This hotel was clean. Some of the other reviewers have mentioned the age of the furnishings. They might have been old, but the hotel was kept spotless. I did not see any roaches or bugs at all and I stayed for 4 days. Some […] reviewers have also mentioned no wifi. But the hotel signs clearly state that wifi is in the lobby. And they have plenty of seating for you to use. There are two restaurants and a bar connected to it, which solves the breakfast, lunch and dinner issue. One is called Uncle John's Cafe (Chinese and American Diner food) and the other is GIll's Indian Restaurant (Duh, Indian food). The food at both places was amazing and I highly recommend you try them both. Also, there is 24 hour Ihop two blocks from the hotel. And there is a sports bar across the street. The staff was friendly and helpful. They gave me numbers for reputable cab companies and showed me where everything was. The hotel is about 3 blocks from the 7th street stop on the Metro. You can go sightseeing on Hollywood (Just take the train to Hollywood and Highland). Hotel is also 2 blocks from a supermarket. My room was equipped with a mini fridge which I filled with cold drinks from the market. It is also close to the convention center and the Staples center. All in all, for the location, price, and level of cleanliness, this hotel is awesome. I would definitely come here again. Continua a leggere

"Disappointed"
I was expecting a little more of the Stillwell based on some of the photos I saw posted and for the price I paid (while not expensive, it was still more than I would have paid for a room like this). The room was clean enough - the sheets were clean and I saw no bugs, but there was a smell to it that really bothered me, so much so that I actually left […] after 1 night, even though I had paid for 2. "Older Hotel"
The hotel was centrally located to the Staple Center and LA Convention Center. Considering the amount of people in LA for the NBA All-Star game, I was satisfied with the sleeping arrangements; the hotel served the purpose for my needs. This was not the Ritz, but I was able to get a good night sleep.

this hotel is great on a budget but hardly worth the $ I spent on it a night. The room are like a 20 year old comfort inn. If you need something close to staples or the convention center on the cheap it is good for location only. the customer service is almost adequate. the internet is almost nonexistent. It is also a resident hotel for the low income. […] The area is on the rise it is close to a supermarket. I wouldn't recommend taking anyone with who is scornful as I also had a roach in my room that I found the second night of my 2 night stay. and the age is apparent in the bathroom. and with the furniture. no bed bugs I checked. and the room was generally clean but dingy. "Traditional Hotel in Downtown L A"
Arrived on a quiet Sunday morning, past a huge deli serving Brunch, the Stilwell is a traditional wood-panelled hotel in an up and coming part of LA's downtown. There's also a cafe off the lobby for breakfast, and an Indian restaurant open lunchtimes and evening. The hotel is also handy for the Metro Blue, Red and Purple(& future Exhibition) lines at […] 7th Street/Metro station, 15 minutes from Hollywood, and an hour to Long Beach. As it was a brief stay, we concentrated on Hollywood, including a trip to Universal Studios. Just had time to pop down to Long Beach to see the restored Queen Mary. The deli up the street had excellent breakfasts, and I can vouch for the quality of the hotel's in house curry. The overall experience with the hotel was ok. It wasnt way good or exceptional but it was average. It was quiet, small and smelly since we got a smoking room. (quite contrary to some remarks about this hotel) air conditioning was working ok, bathrooms and room was pretty clean and there was no noise whatsoever. The front desk woman was nice but other […] than that, we didnt see any other staff member around. Overall the hotel was clean and for the price acceptable, but we were on the top floor and the air conditioning did not cool the room.

I came to find out that this is a residential hotel. The rooms were very old, with walls that were peeling, curtains with holes and no bath mat in the tub/shower so I almost slipped and fell. I had to walk 2 blocks to get a cup of coffee. The food in a downstairs dinner restaurant was very good. I do not believe any other women were staying at this […] hotel, but I felt safe enough. Upon check-in was told we're being "kicked up". Whatever that meant. An upgrade? We did get a 9th. floor room all the way towards the back which was quiet if not fancy. The painting from the lobby to our room was done very sloppily. This hotel has such potential but the owners are not spending any money on it. There is an Indian restaurant and two bars […] in the lobby area. Paid parking on both sides of the hotel ($5/day). The best thing about the Stillwell is the location. It is within walking distance to the historic Original Pantry and Clifton's Brookdale Cafeteria plus a wonderful discover: Bottega Louie. "Fine room for the money"
I could only get two nights in a conference hotel but needed two more nights for the convention. The hotel I was staying at was exorbitantly priced for the same features I got at the Stillwell. The Stillwell's interior doesn't look very nice and most fixtures are from the fifties but it's clean and had everything I needed plus it was much quieter than […] the conference hotel on Figueroa. The bar and restaurant downstairs was great too. I sat down there and worked while I ate, made friends with the waiters and other patrons. Tienen a Ralphs cerca y el metro, por lo que es bueno para movilizarse. Como hotel, si buscas un lugar solo para pasar la noche este hotel es bueno, es comodo. Lo unico que debe mejorar es el acceso a internet que solo en el lobby tiene y no en las habitaciones.
